Some people are defective. My fiancee is the middle of 5 kids, and most of her family is awesome, but her youngest brother is defective. He's in his late 30s and has no desire other than to just do as much blow and drink as much as possible without being homeless, and he has plenty of friends that enable him. The family is in the painstaking process of just cutting him off right now, nobody wants to, and if there was any other option they would never do it, but everyone has already given him a thousand options to do something better and stop screwing everyone over, but he's just never going to change. He's defective.

This "grandson" makes me sick. When my great-grandmother was nearing her death, her mind was starting to go, and she off the cuff said one day " It's all these black people's fault." However, immediately after when I questioned her about it, she was confused, as was I. She was a woman who held no hate in her heart and had black family members meaning it was just the illness talking. I never disowned her, never went to the news, because I loved Granny and I still miss her to this day. It depends on what she was blaming them for. If you are talking about the vast majority of violent crime then she is right. Being racially aware is just self preservation. If one group of people is 50x more likely to commit a violent crime against you than another, I would hope you would act accordingly.

As a young woman who lives alone, if someone were trying to open my door in the middle of the night. I’d have shot too. Who tries to just open the door of a house they’re not familiar with? The only houses I walk into without knocking or calling first is mine and my parents. I live alone and my parents usually know when I’m on my way and I have a key. If I just yanked on the door over and over again, my dad would answer with a gun in his hand. Probably wouldn’t shoot because you can kinda see through the window, but he’d still be ready for trouble.
I really feel for the little girl and her family. There is zero reason for that dude to try and hurt her and her family. The fact that gun laws didn’t stop this from happening is exactly why imposing laws on people who don’t follow them to begin with is a stupid idea that only puts law abiding people at risk. The guy who said his grandfather was racist is a stupid kid who doesn’t talk to his grandfather. That’s all I got from that interview.

I’m a white male from Canada.
As a person who was watching TV/ movies all the way back to the 1960s, it’s always been obvious to me that southern accents have often been put on by actors portraying “ the bad guy” in films. Discrimination against southern white people by northern whites has been routinely carried out without anyone with any voice making any mention of it. It’s a disgrace. And it’s likely in operation when stories like this come up. White media skirts over southern whites.

Man, tell me about it. I'm a dual citizen of Canada and the US. I have a drawl because I was raised in Virginia. I have experienced more racism in my 40 years from the tolerant Canadian multicultural fans than probably every black person in this country combined. They even tried to force me into special classes for a speech impediment because my nomenclature is different than folks up here. I mean, judging somebody based on their skin color and birthplace used to be the definition of the evil r word.

This story made me so angry I got anxiety, Yarl will be able to never work a day in his entire fking life because some almost 90's year old guy shot him by mistake and the shot was so not-serious he didn't even spend two days on the hospital, 3,5millions dollars is already enough to buy like 10 houses and you'll still have a lot of money to spend for years and years to come yet that poor guy got shot for protecting his daughter and is still on the hospital and im sure 90k wont even cover the medical bills if he survives, fck!

I've made the same mistake that Ralph yarl made, except the colors were inverted. I, a white guy in my early 20s, showed up to an elderly black man's house because I input my friend's address wrong. However, the major difference in my case was I was there at dusk and not 10 at night, so the old guy was just confused and said "no worries"

I lost my grandfather when I was 18, he was my major father figure growing up and without him I don’t know where I would be. But I do know that I miss him every day. This grandson is a total piece of shit, the elderly are incredibly vulnerable, you can’t expect them to just wait and see what this stranger entering his home without announcing himself in any way wants… it’s ludicrous to expect an elderly citizen living alone to wait for the danger to become immediately life threatening before he defends himself. Luckily the young man survived, I would hate to see a young person lose their life over a simple misunderstanding.
The old white guy asked through the door "How would you feel if you hadnt eaten breakfast this morning" and the black kid on the other side of the door responded with "I dont understand i did eat breakfast this morning" so the white guy got scared and started shooting.
In the case of the old man shooting the teen it's interesting that fear for one's safety doesn't justify the shooting here yet this is a common defense allowed for cops.

He’s a great father as he covered her to protect her. I pray for that whole family and for quick healing both mentally and physically.

The fact that the old guy didn't even shout, "Who is it" or "What do you want" before opening the door suggests to me that he thought his house was getting cased and he wanted that smoke. If I were on the jury, I'd be open-minded and I wouldn't entertain the baseless assertions that race was a factor... but I'd still be heavily favoring a conviction for assault, reckless endangerment, or attempted murder.

Just to be clear, Ralph Yarl didn't cross the threshold, but he had grabbed the handle of (was opening, or was reasonably perceived to be opening) the glass storm door. The homeowner opened his interior door, and when Yarl moved to let himself in the exterior door, the homeowner fired. That's why the shot was through glass. If an elderly homeowner can't be in reasonable fear upon that fact pattern, we're going to be making uncomfortable precedent that they have to allow a stranger to enter their home at night before they can defend themselves.
(Also, prior successful stand-your-ground immunity hearings have been successfully upheld, despite the decedent never entering the home or being shot through the door, especially in the case that it's occurring at night.)

My mum used to live next door to a high ranking terrorist. It was in Belfast, Northern Ireland in the 1990s and there were lots of terrorists about, we even have openly former terrorists in our government, or had up until very recently.
He was the best next door neighbour (apart from his noisy house parties) and when a mother confronted him after he let a firework off and accidentally it landed behind her deaf son, he meekly apologised and nothing like thatever happened again. He would certainly have not shot a 6 year old girl on the street (although he had probably shot and was prepared to shoot people).
Being a felon is no excuse or reason for shooting that 6 year old girl and her family.

They charged a guy with murder for killing a black man who was attacking him in his shop. It was clear self-defense, yet they charged him with murder. Charges were dropped after a short while, but the fact that they were brought in the first place on such an obvious case of self-defense is revealing. I think the fact that Tucker Carlson presented the video on his segment with commentary might have helped, otherwise they wouldn't have dropped the charges.
So the fact they're doing this to the old guy is not even unexpected, as it's less clear than that one.
