I remember when I was around the age of 11 or 12, this was the first time I literally sat in front of my little CD player radio & listened to an entire CD Album from the beginning to the end. It was the CD Album, Writings on the wall. No offense , but It's hard to explain to the new generation the difference between a beehive stan and a old school Destiny's Child fan who has rocked with Beyonce from day one, witnessing her growth and hardwork flourish her into the present greatest entertainer in the world. My generation is what you call rolling with Bee the long way 😂🤣 and don't come for me with senior citizen energy because I'm only in my thirties 😂🤣 Beyonce's gifts of vocals, dancing, and overall "IT" factor was clear from the start but I believe neither Beyonce or any of us forseen her becoming the most Grammy Award winning artist of all time!! Our generation feels a deeper connection of being a part of her whole journey 😂🤣

    Sixteen carriages drivin' away
While I watch them ride with my dreams away
To the summer sunset on a holy night
On a long black road, all the tears I fight
    Sixteen carriages drivin' away
While I watch them ride with my dreams away
To the summer sunset on a holy night
On a long black road, all the tears I fight
At fifteen, the innocence was gone astray
Had to leave my home at an early age
I saw Mama prayin', I saw Daddy cryin'
All my tender problems, had to leave behind
It's been umpteen summers and I'm not in my bed
On the back of the bus and a bunk with the band
Goin' so hard, gotta choose myself
    Underpaid and overwhelmed
I might cook, clean, but still won't fold
Still workin' on my life, you know
Only God knows, only God knows
    Only God knows
    Sixteen carriages drivin' away
While I watch them ride with my fears away
To the summer sunset on a holy night
On a long back road, all the tears I fight
    Sixteen carriages drivin' away
While I watch them ride with my fears away
To the summer sunset on a holy night
On a long back road, all the tears I fight
    Sixteen dollars, workin' all day
Ain't got time to waste, I got art to make
I got love to create on this holy night
They won't dim my light, all these years I fight
It's been thirty-eight summers and I'm not in my bed
On the back of the bus and a bunk with the band
Goin' so hard, now I miss my kids
    Overworked and overwhelmed
I might cook, clean, but still won't fold
Still workin' on my life, you know

To the summer sunset on a holy night
On a long black road, all these tears I fight
At fifteen, the innocence was gone astray
Had to take care of home at an early age
I saw Mama cryin', I saw Daddy lyin'
Had to sacrifice and leave my fears behind
The legacy, if it's the last thing I do
You'll remember me 'cause we got somethin' to prove
In your memory, on a highway to truth
Still see our faces when you close your eyes

Hopefully this will make other's understand that country music isn't just about drinking beer and driving trucks. Almost 90% of country music has real meaning so of course people in today's age wouldn't understand and relate because they have no depth and no will to give it a chance. This song should be a door that will hopefully change some minds on what good music really is! ♥️👏🏻

It's a good song but it's absolutely not a country song... You can't just throw random country like instrumentals on top of what is clearly an R&B song and call it country. Just cuz you put on a cowboy hat doesn't make it country. Instrumentals in the vocals do not match at all. I would love to hear this song without the instrumentals that they paired with it because I actually do love her voice and singing of this song.

    • @rickmerritt128
      @rickmerritt128 Місяць тому

@@tinamarie1894 true not country music. Seems a lot these days is getting the country music tag when it may only have a tiny bit of country music influence. Much of that is marketing. But people who respect the music and history and who made it great, make music that has country music influence and do not use marketing gimmicks to sell it or perform it or call it country music. There is a certain amount of respect coming from the artists.

They got what they wanted with Destiny’s Child-number one records and hit albums.
Then even more when Beyoncé went solo.
So she worked hard and sacrificed A LOT of her life for her music and to take care of her family, essentially. When Beyoncé got paid-so did her family.
“I saw Mama cryin’ and I saw Daddy Lyin’…”
And while she was working, performing, making music-she missed out on being with her family while slowly watching her family fall apart.
You gotta keep in mind, Beyoncé and her Dad was on the road together, so I’m sure she saw him doing things that she shouldn’t have saw while simultaneously watching her mama cry from being hurt from it all….
