My daughter fell in LOVE with this song. I saw Mr. Swims on American Idol as well singing this song. Long story short my daughter's son just turned 3 this April, his name is Xavier. Xavier sings this song with his mom & when I'm babysitting, I must play this song a zillion times!! Xavier dances & sings the words he knows. So Grandma did find the lyrics so I could sing with him & get ALL the words right for my little singer!!

I'm really glad that you found something here, in this song, to help you feel that comradery. I'm so sorry for all that you've been through and are currently going through. I'm not a vet so I will NEVER understand what it is that you go through, but I actually just went back to therapy today after a year for CPTSD. I would really encourage you if it is viable for you to pursue some kind of professional help. It's not easy or often a straightforward process, but it is a worthwhile one. There is no cure for CPTSD, but with a good match/therapist and the right resources you can be given guidance and be educated about healthy coping mechanisms. Not only that, but it can be beneficial to also simply have someone to listen to you who's not a part of your everyday life along with some insight to how your mind works. Something that really made me feel like I wasn't alone or a freak that no one could ever understand/help was that my therapist could reach over to a shelf and pull out a book that is full of extensive documentation of people experiencing the same things I do. Documentation that goes back centuries. But, regardless of what you do I wish you and your loved ones nothing but the best.
TLDr: from a non vet who also suffers from CPTSD, I just wanted to let you know that it can get better. You are not and you will never be alone brother. Stay safe my friend.
