We lived here about 60 years ago. As migrants, my parents thought that this would be a good place to live, after arriving at Hervey Bay. The weather is good for older people, but there was never any employment. We eventually moved away at great personal expense. Good luck with promoting Maryborough, but it will have to be something more than a museum (too many already exist in Australia) to entice people to live here.

I live in Maryborough QLD AUSTRALIA. this picture is not of Maryborough. I do not recognise this place. The hill in the background is a dead giveaway. There are no hills like this in or around Maryborough.

Lots of photos there are nothing to do with Maryborough - but that is probably the point, as they want locals to envision popular places like that and try and recreate similar venues in Maryborough. I grew up in Maryborough, and no longer live there but I do visit the Wide Bay-Burnett region quite regularly. I have seen Maryborough decline in many ways, so I wish the Council all the best regarding any attempts to invigorate my home town.

Maryborough has a lot of History, but the future looks a little bleak as very few young people are interested in past era's. Maryborough itself is good to come back to, and it still has the sense of an unchanging time. The problems here are similar to all communities, but once Maryborough boasted to be the millionaire's capital, per head per population of its residents. I personally preferred Maryborough back wen I was growing up in the 60's, all innocent and carefree, for the times are a changing....
