if you constantly tap the touchpad while typing by accident, you can go to the touchpad settings and change the delay of the tap while typing to medium delay or long delay. That should help a lot!
NightfireEdits I haven't experienced the keyboard falling asleep in awhile. They must have addressed the issue through drivers and BIOS updates. I constantly keep the tablet software up to date.
How do you solve the mobile keyboard falling asleep problem @1:22? I'm considering buying the mobile keyboard but it would be annoying to have to undock and redock it to get it to work
It's been a while but you can just download the latest version of the graphics driver off the Dell support page and then here is what I changed in Graphic properties. i.imgur.com/UBKZCMS.png
Dell has a fix for the keyboard going into sleep mode, in the registry but i think you can do it from the device manager by disabling power saving feature for all the USB devices to avoid sleep mode
Thanks for the advice. I have tried the registry method before but it still freezes a bit sometimes. I just applied the method you suggested through device manager. So far no freezes!
Mine has apparent problems with the motherboard. Mine has been changed 3 times so far. It just came back January,28, 2018, and now, it is doing the same thing. Will have to send it out again to the Depot for repair. Very disappointed in this tablet. You think that after 3 repairs, they could get a motherboard in the machine that works correctly. Glad I bought the extended warranty. Good luck with your unit. You will need it!
I purchased a Dell Venue Pro 11 i5 128GB RAM in November,.. It didn't arrive until Jan 16th and has been a huge dissapointment with months (now approaching end of April; 3 months..) and still, it sits as a useless brick. I had all the lockup problems described in this excellent video. Constant freezes, hangs, timeouts, failure of virtual and physical keyboard and battery replacements with at most, 1hr a week failing within 3 weeks. Oh yes, and plenty of power problems; the microUSB connector begain jiggling within the first two weeks and unless you prop it at JUST the right angle, the AC power will connect-disconnet constantly; very difficult to get/maintain a charge and untenable for use while tethered. Dell finally sent me a replacement AC adapter and microUSB even though I told them this was not the problem (does it with other USB powered cables). Dell then had me wait weeks later for a replacement motherboard. OMG, the nightmare tripled! The tech had never worked on one before and with considerable difficulty, he took it apart and replaced the motherboard. During the process, my wife noted he had a part left over,.. he simply laid it inside the case (didn't see what it was) and closed the case up! Afterward, it is nearly impossible to turn on (new on/off switch doesn't press in like the old one) and it can take over a minute of pressing, pressing harder and getting frustrated before you might occasionally get it to turn on. Oh yes, I know all about having to hold the pwr button down for at least 10 seconds after a bad shutdown to then cycle it back on... Now, the only way to turn it off is to remove the back and physically remove/replace the battery! The tech confirmed this was the only way he could turn it off now. When he left, he said there were a lot of problems with these tablets and recommended I try to get dell to replace it outright. More calls to Dell and week after week after week they call me just to say there are many people with these same problems; that dell does not have a solution but asks that I be patient while Dell tries to address all these issues. Oh yes, and that the replacement will be the same model but have all these issues fixed. I've been a long supporter of Dell but this tablet is a disaster. they appear to have (as the rep said) a big backlog and while the website says they will ship the first week of May, yesterday they changed it to June! I have only used this tablet for at most 20 hours over the last 3 months and for weeks, it just sits gathering dust. I simply want my money back so I can purchase a second Surface Pro 128 which my wife has owned since they first released and has never had a single problem. I STRONGLY discourage anyone from buying into this table series. Dell, return my money and get me out of your dead-machine queue.
UPDATE: Within minutes of my post (coincidence; I cannot imagine Dell had a chance to see my comments, they agreed to a full refund; that they had many customers all struggling with this i5 tablet and stylus. I am sad that it did not work out but Dell is well aware of all the problems and said their engineers still do not have a suitable replacement. I am happy that I can return this > $1,000 tablet, stylus and extended 2yr warranty. Waiting for a return shipping box but at last (for me), I am out of the huge holding queue at last. Thank you Dell, you did right by me. I hope Dell comes up with a working tablet someday soon. Best of luck to everyone!
Hi! i put it on charging for 2 days as i travelled and forgot, and after that the tablet reset when i connect the keyboard with battery within, sometimes stayed few seconds before reset, when i take keyboard battery off, they can work normally, do you know how to fix that? Thanks bro!
LOL, Back in the 1970s I used to disassemble 6 Volt "lantern" batteries to get the 4 "F" cells (yes, that's a "size"!) I would wire 2 of them up in series to make "long life" batteries for my little radio (3 volt) that used 2 "AA"s. Damned things would last MONTHS. 😊 Today, every thing from "AA"s to "D"s might be inside of a 6 Volt battery.
Hello Vincent, how can I change sleep settings on my dell venue pro 11. I have this problem about the tablet screen going black when I am playing music. Automatically the music stops too. Is there a way I can fix this?
just go to control panel power option stop sleeping at all couse it have issues in all kind of windows just make the screen goes black after 5 min without sleeping
Hi, The tablet is running pretty good now. I have not tried any of the new updates from January yet; I will update it soon and see how it performs. I had an issue with the fan being very loud, I sent it in to Dell to get it repaired but the sound was always there. My warranty ran out so I opened the tablet up myself and added some silicon lubricant into the fan bearings which helped lower fan noise drastically. If you haven't bought the tablet yet I would suggest getting the new model (7140) as most bugs should have been sorted out since this was a first generation product.
2 in 1 's for the same or better price ? How is Office working, because I am a student and I use nearly every day. Is it possible to play League of Legends? I want to buy a i5 version with 4gb ram
Hi Thanks for your review ! Can you tell me what was the thouch issue you had and that have been fix by uninstalling the Intel Display Driver from Dell and replacing by the older Intel Display Driver from Intel website ? Thank you !
All the touch issues I had has been resolved for my tablet. I installed all the latest updates from the dell site including the Intel driver (they have updated it). There was a setting the Intel Display driver I had to change. I went into Graphic Properties > Power. In there I turned Panel Self-Refresh, Display Power Saving Technology and Extend Battery Life for Gaming to OFF.
Ok great thanks ! But what was your touchscreen issue ? Because I have my touchscreen responsivesness which is sometimes very bad and there are many missed tap and so I have to touch many times on a link for example. Did you have this problem and managed to solve it by disabling what you've said or did you have another problem ? Once again many thanks for your review and answers !!
Lorhdak21 Yeah I also had this issue. I can't remember what I did exactly but you can try to re-calibrate your touch. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Tablet PC Settings. In here you re-calibrate to suite you better. There was also a firmware update on the touch panel awhile ago if you haven't updated yet. I'll try to see if I remember what I did exactly and I'll let you know. Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much ! I'm very happy to hear that you had this issue and solved it, so that it's not a hardware issue :) I will try to use your setting on the Intel Graphic Properties :) Thanks again !
Hi! do you charge your keyboard separately or with the tablet on it. Becouse I just bought my keyboard! but I don't like the idea that I have to charge first one device and then another.
Hi! I depends because when the tablet is connected to the keyboard it uses the keyboards battery first. If by the end of the day the keyboard is low but the tablet still has a high percentage then I just charge the keyboard. But if they're both out/low, I charge them when they are connected together.
It's a 24w, the charger has a dual rating on the back it says Output: 19.5V/1.2A or 5V/2A. The Micro USB cable is 3FT long. Dell does not sell an extension for it though so you will have to look at third party cords. The top of the charger is removable and you can add a 3 prong AC power cord, here is one from Monoprice bit.ly/1kTIQge
I'm not using the tablet anymore, moved onto the XPS line. But while I was using it it would have troubles turning on at times and I would have to plug in for it to turn on
Hi, Without: For me the battery last around 1-2 days on very light use. I only have Chrome and Onenote open and use the tablet for about 4-6 hours a day. With: The battery last about 2-4 days again with very light use. I will see how long it will last using it for gaming and more demanding task and I will get back too you. I'm making a Steam streaming video soon and will probably be uploaded next week as it is the long weekend.
My first one would shutdown expectantly and freeze.I got my replacement but it still freezes ones in a while for short 10-15 sec. Have anybody figure out if this is software or hardware issue? I tried calling their customer service, but you know how idiotic there are.
There has been reports of both software and hardware issues. In my case it was all software except for the stylus which I got replaced. Check out this dell forum there is a lot of people with different solutions on trying to resolve certain problems. dell.to/1kfkfo3
You didn't sell this at all. I've been living with my Dell Venue 8 Pro and it has been amazing. Plays all the last gen games like GTA, Oblivion, Skyrim, and CS:GO. Runs Word accell and power point perfect. I play games on it. I use all Bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard. Awesome.
Civilization 5 would be a good start, especially with the touch interface enabled in-game. And also how a "normal" RTS would work with the active pen. Maybe something simple as OpenRA. Thanks!
The fan noise is okay when performing light tasks but it will get loud when for example watching a video. I find it annoying when I use it in bed at night time because all you will hear is the fan. Also when it's not in a still position (docked in keyboard / laying down on the table) and the fan is at a high RPM and you tilt it around you'll notice noises like the fan is grinding against the walls in the tablet.
+jo Meyer To make everything bigger you have to use the scale setting. You can see how to get there through this screenshot puu.sh/oz7Gu/1c4030bc52.jpg
I never understood the purpose of a camera on the back of a TABLET. Even though I am a photographer, I'm no "camera snob" (even if I am a Pentax guy,LOL) I'm NOT against using a phone for photos, You have a phone with you always, and the camera you have WITH YOU is 100x better than the one you LEFT AT HOME!, But a tablet would be LESS convenient and less quality than even the CHEAPEST "Wally World" point and shoot camera. Tablet makers should put the BETTER camera on the FRONT where it will be used in video calls.
Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it boots, sometimes it cools the CPU, sometimes it charges the battery. Dells have been chintzy, quirky pieces of shit since I was a kid and this is the last one I'll own. Yea I "like" it too when everything is going great.
this is not really problems you can fix them your self :D but the pen one it is stupid to make it with battery i used note 4 the pen has no shit it just anoraml palstic carp act like a pen

Xanifur Which GTA runs well on it? If you're talking about IV or V I'm impressed.
Xanifur that's great. I bought a pro 11 with the i5, I should be able to run those on ultra.
Could you try streaming games from Steam? Good video!

wtf, a 9v battery is literally just a box of six AAA batteries?!

A lot of good info!
