Opinions on this subject always vary greatly depending on whether someone values fresher design vs classical tradition. With Josh leaning towards the latter, it's no surprise the likes of Alabama, Penn State, and USC found their way into the top 3 positions followed by Michigan and Notre Dame. LSU road unis are iconic and instantly recognizable. Think about the fog game vs UF. Never had to wonder if it was Bama or Oklahoma because both teams sport great unis
The problem with LSU is the alternates they have. You wear a uniform or you dont. If you wear an alt twice a year then you have a traditional and an alt. If we are talking about LSU in the 1970's then yes.
@@theknowitall4090 But Ole Miss Powder Blues are on the honorable mentions? Does not hold up.
@Jimmy Carolina if anything, that consistency would be a plus by Pate State rules. Yeah we have used alt purple unis a few times but Michigan has worn seven different alt jerseys.
To each their own. Just pointing out the inconsistency. Totally cool for people to like boring uniforms.
@Jimmy Carolina TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! Those Royal Purple home jerseys are beautiful and they seldom wear them.
My top 5: Powder blue UCLA, Texas, Penn ST, Ohio State, Michigan: Honorable mention Tennesee, Nebraska Miami
No disrespect but LSU definitely needs to be in this convo we got tradition and good looking unis
I agree as a Bama fan. Even the Purple tops/white helmets are awesome.
For the same reasons as Josh mentioned, I love being able to watch videos of a game in black and white and immediately know it's Ohio State vs Michigan because of the winged helmet and Buckeye stickers. They're the same jerseys our great-grandfathers fell in love with.
The worst are the ‘smurfs’ of Boise State and the ‘peeps’ of Oregon.
I like LSU’s traditional that we wore when I was on team in ‘8o-‘83 with purple/white jerseys over gold pants.
This is the best video on this topic!! You know what you're talking about!!!
Bama and Auburn both have really clean and classic away uniforms and their homes are both really good too, it's part of why the Iron Bowl is always so cool imo. LSU has great aways but they don't wear home jerseys much for a reason... Georgia has some of the best home unis and good aways too. Michigans homes are awesome but their aways are pretty meh, and Ohio State is kind of the opposite. Clemson's whites are solid. UCLA, Ole Miss, and Florida all have great blue home jerseys.
I can't stand orange, though. Tennessee and Clemson's homes can all rot. Texas' rusty orange is a little better though.
I don’t like orange either but Texas and Tennessee are the only teams that pull it off IMO. the barn? Not so much.
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 imo only Texas does. Tennessee has that puke, inside of a pumpkin orange. It's not that orange that you can really sit with. Oklahoma State does alright because of the overall color scheme, and Clemson's away uniforms do a decent job of toning the orange down tastefully. But I just dislike their uniforms, I hate Tennessee's.
Tennessee, Pitt, UNC, LSU and Michigan imo
Ole Miss has the best traditional uniforms because it has options. And I ain’t talkin ANY of the powder blue garbage. Ole Miss cardinal red home, grey pants navy helmet is incredible
Those 5 are the best unis in College Football. I am very bias but I feel USC has the best unis in College Football. USC halmets are classic and look intimidating.
1. OU/BAMA
2. Notre dame
3. Ohio State
4. Penn State
5. Michigan/USC
It's mostly about legendary programs that made their uniforms famous for me. Tradition is too often thrown out these days. Remember where you come from
I've always thought this was an interesting subject. I think your uniform should represent your identity as a school and program. For example, I think Oregon's uniforms are cool because we associate Oregon with Nike, an up-tempo offense, and the West Coast. Alabama's uniforms are cool because we associate them with old-school, smash-mouth, southern football. The worst uniforms are when teams try to be something that they're not, like Maryland or Ohio State when they wear their all-red uniforms. BTW, LSU has the best unis in the country 😂
I have to take tcu, Oregon, Oklahoma, Ohio state, Clemson
One thing I've always hated in a school's uniforms is when the jersey and pants (excluding white uniforms) are the same color. The all orange Clemson and all blue Kentucky uniforms aren't appealing to me. Some people may love them but I think they provide no contrast in color.
I do agree that the all white Alabama uniforms are awesome. In the 60s & 70s Bama would sometime wear a white helmet with the road whites and that combination really looked good.
Another thing I really like is when UCLA & USC play, each school wears their home uniform. The powder blue of UCLA up against dark red of USC really looks fantastic to see.
Lsu Michigan for me not in that order both are gorgeous
1) Bama 2) Penn st. 3) notre dame 4) Nebraska 5) Michigan ....bonus pick, 6) FSU
Bama fan but gotta admit those Ole Miss powder blues are fire.
As a Georgia boy I would have to throw in Colorado for a good looking UNI
I wish Alabama would bring back the White helmet back.
OU is a better crimson than Alabama
USC
ND
TCU (their whole horned frog theme)
Florida
FSU
LSU
OU Bama Penn state all those plain ones are boring. Michigan you can only say for the helmet but a lot of schools used to have that design and its mimicking a leather helmet and I don't like fake leather.
Alabama # 1, yes I'm biased. but I like plain uniforms in all sports. don't like tons of stripes, new font numbers, etc. I'd throw USC in there too. just wish they had player names
What? You don’t even mention Georgia! They are the epitome of tradition.
😆
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahajahajajahahahahahahah good one. “The epitome of tradition.” Dispute UGA winning their 2nd NC in 40 years their fans are still hanging pictures on their walls of particular regular season games like the “hob nail boot” or “UGA trying to bite the auburn player.” UGA and tradition, that’s hilarious.
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 what are you talking about? We were talking about uniforms!
@@douglaslambert579 man, it was the bourbon. Hell, I’m a Georgia boy myself. Drunken cheap shot and was lame. My bad.
Forgot LSU!
Im not a huge fan of the UGA uniforms, but the Power G is iconic
The Green Bay G?
Syracuse and Florida State are awesome too!
Top 5 no particular order Notre Dame Michigan Ole miss Alabama and USC and I am a Georgia fan
1) Florida
2) LSU
3) Ole Miss
4) Tennessee
5) Cincinnati
Year in & year out, LSU has the best college uniforms (as voted by all college fans).
Someone lied
@@Bone3200 Not really. The mass agree. Maybe you don’t, but the majority do.
@@bignastytiger4174 never in my life have i heard that LSU had the best unis from anyone 🤨 it’s also the furthest thing from true
@@KhalilDashawn so, you follow this opinion, but never heard of any other polls/opinions?
@@bignastytiger4174 what are you even talking about? I only follow one opinion and that’s mine but that doesn’t steer away from that fact that never in my life have i heard of LSU having the best unis in any poll
speaking of uniforms where did that blue t-shirt come from.
Late Kick Extra is always blue tee. White reserved for Late Kick Live. - JP
Talking tradition? Tennessee deserved to be in the top 5, it's NOT just Orange and White, it is literally called "Tennesse Orange and White". Every year for all my life and most of the lives of anyone living, UT has had the trusty TN Orange n White, not "Burnt Orange" or just plain "Orange" but a shade that has its own unique color code. And the Power T? Yeah, I know you mentioned them but you talk about tradition and that is a tradition in bunches. You may hate that shade but in the end, you will always be able to tell who's who if two teams in orange are playing
Right on Josh. Alabama has the BEST historic uniform!!!!!!
I seldom pull for them, but LSU’s uni’s are awesome!
My favorite LSU is the white helmet with purple jersey.
Not gonna lie as a Oregon fan I think we have a lot of misses with our uniforms, and would love some consistency. But we’ve walked out of the tunnel with some of the best *non-traditional* uniforms out there.
I miss the early 2000's look y'all had that made the cover of NCAA. The simplest uniform I can remember from Oregon. I can't recall the last time I've seen it.
Oregon is all about innovation. Innovation is about trying new things, not all of which can be expected to hit. That’s ok. That’s Oregon’s tradition.
Jesus loves you
Oregon has great uniforms. . . Besides the number font. It's way too big and it doesn't look like it fits in
1. Bama 2. Penn St 3. LSU 4. Florida St. 5. Pitt when they use the powder blue or Ole Miss when they use the power blue.
FSU at 4?
No Oklahoma State
Arkansas went back to the 05 McFadden uniforms and they look amazing.
A very underrated, excellent uniform that you didn’t even mention is Florida. Without even knowing the teams on the field you can just look at the crisp orange helmets on top of the Royal blue jerseys and know that’s Florida. The orange kinda represents the sunshine state and blue represents the oceans surrounding Florida. The patterns and stripes on the jerseys and pants make them look so slick and they don’t just use the same old uniform every single game. Traditional home unis are Orange helmets, blue jerseys, and white pants which is a fantastic look. But it’s so nice because they also incorporate their orange jerseys in addition to other alternate home combos. My personal favorite is the orange helmets and blue jerseys/pants. The all blue look makes the helmets pop and are usually worn in rivalry games. Also nice to see their throwback uniforms for homecoming every year. You don’t have to honor the past in every single game. I think it’s a bit overkill and boring to do so by not making any changes. The alternate gators unis used in 2017 were not good because they tried to be something that definitely was not “Florida”. But the Blue and orange is an oddly fascinating color combination that should be appreciated.
I’m a Florida fan and I agree for the most part but the last redesign messed up the numbers and the stripes. They need to redesign it and make it more classic again.
Georgia Alum here. I am surprised that FSU hasn’t been mentioned more. Also, like Classic Canes circa 1988. Love the Storm Trooper Texas Unis, Purdue’s home unis from the Brees days are nice along with Colorado. Auburn’s home uniforms are better than the road ones…I don’t think another team wears Navy as good as Auburn.
FSU has the best helmet.
Hate OU's alternate uniforms. Stick with the traditional uniform.
I agree! I've been an OU fan since 1971 (long before alt uniforms for anyone), and I truly dislike alt uniforms. I really like the updated interlocked OU logo. Oddly enough, starting back when they first had an alt uniform, the throwback to honor the 1950s teams, they wore vs TT....OU more times than not (seemingly by a wide margin) loses or at least play bad when alts are worn. I hope that when they finally arrive in the SEC, alts are laid to rest. I certainly don't want them to pull a Mizzou (a complete overhaul from helmet logo to the uniforms) lol. As much as I hate Texas, I do appreciate the fact that apart from the one-off 150 on their helmets to celebrate the milestone, they are like Alabama.....they stick to tradition. I remember when the craziest thing Coach Barry did to the jerseys was add SOONERS to them lol.
@@mikebridges7294 We must be about the same age. Barry also brought out the red shoes against Nebraska that one time. Boomer.
Auburn's white Unis are the cleanest in college football imo. My other favorites in no order, UGA, LSU, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Navy
Yes! Auburn's whites are super clean, and they always make the payers look so athletic.
Michigan color scheme is ugly af. Ohio State should be in top 5 easy. The helmet is unmatched
Ohio State has really good uniforms.
USC? Ketchup and Mustard, must disagree with that one.
I fell in love with USC because of Reggie bush and the jerseys😍
Penn State's is about as old school as you can get. I'm biased to the scarlet and grey. Especially when they rack up those buckeye stickers. Controversial, but I like Georgia's contrast more than bama's dull red
Penn State should break out the black and pink from the 1890's for nostalgia- today's blue and white. That's what happens when you ask a military quartermaster to design a football uniform.
Texas longhorns!!!
How you left Texas off this list is mind boggling!!! There is not another team in any sport that has burnt orange and it truly pops with their white helmets!!!
No order but I got Kansas State, LSU, Florida, USC, Georgia
biased but the all white Texas uniforms. they’re a timeless classic.
Amen brother! The "Icy Whites" or "Storm Trooper" uniforms are timeless!
@Jimmy Carolina Amen brother! I’m hoping by ‘23 we’ll have things in place to give Bama a game they won’t soon forget.
I fucking hate Texan with all my passion as a big 12 fan, like texas is my second or first most hated program, but your right those unis are just great, I really like the tradition and the color schemes with that uni.
Alabama's uniform is so bad its literally a colored shirt with a number and a name. Nothing else.
Right !! but josh is a bama d rider
@@reidwilson7974 he’s an auburn fan. Vast majority of folks usually say Bama or Penn St have the best uni’s. Some folks like subtle (Bama/Penn St) and some like shit (Oregon/auburn)
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 that 💩trash what they wear both teams
@@reidwilson7974 Oregon and auburn? I agree. They are shit.
My opinion is totally biased but I freaking love LSU playing in all white with the white helmet. Only get to see it once a year or so which makes it a little more special.
Was this a top 5 jersey conversation, or a top 5 most universally hated programs conversation?
I am also a traditionalist....but I have a somewhat different top 5 because give me interesting design with my tradition. Not just a plain outfit....LOL. I would go 1. Notre Dame (and they are a rival of my team) 2. Ohio State 3. Miami (I am a Miami fan) 4. Michigan 5. USC...Although I hate Notre Dame I always loved their tradition and their Uniforms. They use real gold to make their helmets. That's dope! I love the stickers on that buckeye helmut. I alaways have. The U is just the U. It's just undeniable. I grew up when that was a brand that actually scared the crap out of teams. I love the Michigan color scheme and I would throw USC in there because it is a cool theme.
Not shocking picks from a guy who wears a white T-shirt 90% of the time.
I think Texas belongs in the top 5, not just because it meets the same tradition criteria, as the top 5, but because, with exception to Alabama, their color wasn’t just picked. Austin has some spectacular sunsets where the whole sky turns a burnt orange, and is where the Longhorns got their burnt orange color from. In short, I just personally think their color scheme’s origin is cooler than some of the other top 5.
Reminds me of vomit. But to each his own.
@@MountainVisions your vomit is burnt orange? Tf is wrong with you?
@Jimmy Carolina there will definitely be some bandwagons, I have a family full of Texas Alumni, and have been rooting for Texas since the 80’s, so I won’t be counted as one of them.
The boosters and donors need to get out of the way, they are the problem at Texas.

1. Penn State
2. USC
3. LSU
4. Miami
5. Clemson
Honorable mentions: Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, Texas
Bama Home jersey is #1 by far....and Iam a USC fan from Los Angeles...#1. BAMA, 2. USC, 3. FLORIDA ST, 4. UGA, 5. ND, 6 TEXAS 7. LSU, 8. PENN ST
What about best alternate jerseys? Example: Florida’s orange or Ole Miss’ powder blue with white helmet.
Ole Miss’ powder blue is def top10.
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 Agree!
Florida has the ugliest uniforms and helmets
Gotta throw in Lsu purple
Selfishly I think UGA’s is up there. I’ve never really put much thought into this, but like you, I’m a traditionalist when it comes to jerseys. I’d probably go with Penn St. I how they white pops in contrast to their dark navy blue home unis.
I wish we kept the throwback 80s jerseys from 2020, because those looked incredible and are probably my favorites.
I agree. I love Georgia’s uniforms, I think they’re the perfect combination of traditional and modern. The silver britches are pretty unique but I kinda miss the old block numbers instead of that new Georgia TM font. Bama’s and Penn State’s are just too plain. My top 5 in no order would probably be LSU, FSU, UGA, Oregon, Michigan.
I prefer the new font
@@BryanWolfe21 I definitely don’t dislike it. But man those 1980 away-throwbacks we wore vs Arkansas and the black jerseys look great with the block #’s.
UGA is up there for me. Def top10. Bama and Penn St hands down have the best jerseys IMO. LSU, Florida St, Tenn are up there as well.
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 I respect that Penn State and Bama have kept it really traditional, but man you switch it up AT LEAST every once in a while..especially if you only have 2 school colors, and 1 of them is white. I’m not a huge fan of white helmets for some reason either.
Auburn's Storm Trooper whites are second to none.
LSU wearing the home whites at night is pretty iconic too.
Them auburn uni’s are ugly as cow crap. Navy blue and Orange are hands down the most hideous color scheme.
2nd to Texas' Storm Trooper whites
Josh your list says a lot about you, and I mean that as a compliment 😂. Here's mine not including UGA cause I'm biased.
1. FSU! - the garnet and gold is both clean and iconic. You gotta have them on your list.
2. LSU
3. Notre Dame
4. Michigan
5. Oregon
Our current uniforms are horrible. The old 2013 FSU uniforms with the old logo and spear on the helmet is one of the best
@@jonathanshucavage4876 y'all are right. I was thinking about the old uniforms. The new ones aren't terrible tho.
Incoming salty Oregon fans.
UGA has the best. Just saying.
SIKE!
It’s Green Bay but Red/Black/Silver. UGA is somewhere around where auburn’s is.
I just tasted a little vomit in the back of my throat.
"There are many varieties of ice cream but I am a classic guy. My favorite is vanilla." - Josh Pate.
The powder blue from Ole Miss is the best.
Penn State and Alabama have the worst uniforms. They look like practice jerseys. Also no name on the back gets you ruled out. A lot of these kids will never play a snap in the NFL and having your name on the back is meaningful. Respresenting your family name is important.
Alabama is such a lazy answer. Completely boring uniforms that never change. Nothing great about bama’s uniforms they don’t pop they are just a boring uniform that no one would even think about if Alabama wasn’t good. Penn state is also boring.
The younger generation of college football fans will probably not put any of those in there to five. Organ, Maryland, Clemson, and Boise are what I hear a lot from casual fans like and that’s probably the market we need to target. The die hard fans aren’t going anywhere.
Totally agree with you on these! Love the traditional uniforms
I like your picks. Just letting you know. I'm a big fan of traditional stuff like you are. I would possibly put in LSU over one of these picks though. Sometimes they'll change it up and wear purple or wear a white helmet but man... They pretty much wear that white jersey to practically Every Game. Talk about not changing. lol.
Never understood how fans hate new uniforms yet the kids love it…you all sound old and cranky. Those traditional unis are BORING
Auburn is my #1. Notre Dame is #2. Oregon #3. Shout out to a HBCU, #4 Jackson State.
Bama and Oklahoma have the same jerseys. Even Indiana too. So if you have Bama there I guess you’d have to put Oklahoma’s up there as well.
My top 5. Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, and North Carolina.

I'll put in my 2c worth. South Carolina & Texas Tech very sharp .
LSU's purple jerseys are just sick!!!
I love Ohio State's white on silver.
Biased as a Michigan fan but I’d go 1. Michigan, I love all the looks except the all white and alternate all maize. Cant go wrong with tradition. 2. Ohio state, maybe that’s what makes the rivalry the best bc of the uniform clash. They’re traditional, but still look flashy bc of the silverish tint, the buckeye stickers look tremendous and thank heavens their secondary color isn’t white. 3. When Ok St. wears any combination of orange and white. I know that may seem hypocritical considering what I just said, but there’s still plenty of black trim in the uniform. They do a great job combining their traditional style with a sharp modern look. 4. Iowa, black and yellow is a great combo, they have a traditional design and the tiger hawk logo is really unique. 5. Oregon/TCU whenever they get the color scheme right. I’m not a big fan of Oregon’s candy apple green unless there’s enough yellow. Lack of a traditional look hurts them but when they pick the right design and right color scheme they are enticing. Props to TCU for making purple look mean. The collar design and the frog skin is so badass. When they add the red trim that’s a cool touch too, especially when they say it’s horned frog blood. Honorable mention: Ole miss powder blue
He is 100% right about the traditional uniforms! Oregon is the only program that should be wearing alternates. It’s their thing. Everybody else stick to your real uniform. As a Buckeye fan it kills me a little inside whenever we change the uni.
Personally I loved the Black-Outs and "The Land of Wolves" unis (Worn in 2016-17)
Alabamas unis are the most boring unis in the league lol. Right behind that is notre dame
My top 5 are Alabama, Ole Miss, Penn State, USC, Auburn...
It is impossible to pick the top 5 college football uniforms for me! Most colleges have great, simple, traditional uniforms, and is one of the reasons I prefer cfb as a whole, over the nfl as a whole. Me personally, the all white Texas uni is the best in cfb. After that it’s all a toss up. I love the oranges of Tennessee and Clemson. Notre dame. The big10 teams like Michigan, OSU, Penn st, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. The crimson/red and white unis of Alabama, Oklahoma, and Stanford. Most of the SEC unis, except Mississippi st, Georgia, Vandy and Mizzou. And then some of those ACC teams, like FSU, NC, and VT. So much to choose from…
Fl State has a great uni too
I'm surprised LSU's tradition of wearing the white uniforms at most/games wasn't even mentioned
LSU is similar to the Dallas Cowboys in that they seem to wear their white jerseys about 90% of the time.
The modern MSU white on white on white uniform with the 90’s Gruff Sparty on the helmet 🪖 perfection. Beautiful
MSU all whites or all greens are honestly the best 2 standard unis in the sport
Florida State
Ohio State
USC
Florida
Alabama or UNC
USC-UCLA (with both teams in home jerseys) is the most aesthetically pleasing uniform matchup in CFB
I think cal’s colors are cooler
1. Kansas state
2. Tennessee vols
3. Ole miss powder blue
4. Wazzou
5. The old school Seneca Wallace iowa st uniforms were sooo good. They need to bring them back
-an Ohio st fan
K State definitely underrated
Some other great ones are Pitt, Ohio state, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Oregon, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan state and UCLA, Jackson state is pretty good too
FSU
Guessing the jerseys before he called them out, went 3 for 5, missed usc and penn state, but agree overall with your opinion josh, love the tradition of the uniforms and the how you can instantly recognise a team and university from just one look at their uniforms or even in just their helmets even
I prefer the uniforms (and helmets) to remain the same. Some colleges change helmets almost every year and I find that very annoying. Flipping channels of games one used to be able to know who was playing in an instant. Now with uniform and helmet changes, you have sometimes wait for the score graphic in order to know. IMO, UCLA has the best uniform, adding that it is their long traditional uniform still. I don't care for the school but that uniform has been great for decades.
Actual top 5: Michigan State, North Carolina, Utah, LSU, Ohio State
Those seem more like a list of the most iconic uniforms.
Here are some that don't get enough love:
Auburn (and I hate them as a UGA fan) has really sweet looking unis.
Mississippi State's white uniform is pretty nice.
If you go more pastel as your thing, then UCLA, UNC, Ole Miss and Tennessee's creamsicle orange's are pretty nice.
Kentucky doesn't get enough credit for the royal blue unis.
Alabama has THE WORST uni’s imo
i hate Penn State uniforms to plain. put a logo on the damn helmet plz
That Ole Miss powder blue uniforms are hard to ignore
Bama uniforms are not even in the top 20
