Congrats on keeping Pate State rolling the way you desire. My mom used to say we may wear old clothes, simple clothes, but they’re always clean clothes. Keep sporting your white t-shirt!
Honestly that is great news, glad you have control of your own channels! I just feel bad for the guys that made their NCAA 25 teams with the old Pate State logo!
Josh - find it hard to believe people didn’t pick up on the jokes & tongue-in-cheek elements (like “Pate State” and “Ramen Noodle express”) to the point that you had to explain them. Great show; keep up that tee shirt spirit!
Best in the game! Since I first watched your show I was a fan. Your takes are the best in college football, a real authentic fan of the game who doesn't sensationalize the news like the big networks.. and if you so happen to, ie your spring transfer portal take. You own your mistake with a bright red nose haha You're a master at branding/marketing and anyone who watches more than one show will pick up on all the references from this video without having to watch this one. Although I do appreciate you making it anyway. I see others trying to replicate your style, that's how you know you're shifting the market and doing things right. Thanks for representing college football the way it should be. Sincerely, A CFB Fan
I had thought that you might be a train fan. So am I and always have been. Your in Nashville and I'm in Smyrna. I'm also a member of the group that's restoring the NC&StL No. 576 that used to be in Centennial Park for 65 years. I would love to have you visit us and the restoration at the Tennessee Railroad Museum. I happen to be finishing a 1/8 scale operating model of the 576 (started in 2018) which I will be running at the Mid South Live Steamers railroad at Maury County Park in Columbia, TN. I would love to have you visit one of our meets. The next meet is 26 - 28 September and we will be giving public rides. Hope to see you there. Finally, you're always welcome to visit me at my home to see my locomotive and cars and the setup I used to build my train. Love your channel. GBO
Yep and that's why I've been watching since the days Josh would play a chord on the guitar to transition; looked like he was doing the show then from a coat closet, but the feel has stayed the same since episode 1!
Josh I love the show. I have a thought about about Overtimes. I hate them but I do understand why you need them. So here is my thoughts. 1. During the game you can move the extra point back 5 yards each time the team scores. At something a person might think a 2 point conversation makes more sense...2. You could give the kickoff team a point if the kicker puts it thru the upright on the kick. Just some thoughts for the first Commissioner of College Football
I love your shows! Difficult to catch them live due to my irregular schedule (I think that's an oxymoron) but I look forward to it. You are the best for many reasons. Congrats on the new ownership contract.
Ok this is not like stressing me out but as a long time watcher I can’t help but have one question. What about the set? The old home set seemed bigger and bsdder I would love to see it dressed up as Josh Pates College Football Show. We had two camera angles it just seemed “bigger.”
Great video for all the newbies! One thing I think you could improve on and I’m not sure how you’re not seeing it, for the JP Poll, stop putting “rankings” or 1-25 numbers next to the teams. Instead, exchange the number with the teams actual power rating metric, so if UGA has the highest rated metric, display that number (i.e. 0.973), if OSU is second, show that number (0.941) etc. That would clear up a ton of confusion and also be really interesting to see the differences and drop offs!
I'm still upset we never got the Immunity T shirts but I'll live with Josh having ownership of his content. Love ya Josh, will never forget you replying to my Twitter DM a few years ago. Go Pate State.
Here’s an outline of this proposed college football system that incorporates the current College Football Playoff (CFP) model but adjusts conference play for the Big Ten and SEC to address scheduling discrepancies and determine playoff eligibility more equitably. Structure Overview 1. Preseason Non-Conference Games: • Each team, regardless of conference, will schedule 5-6 preseason non-conference games. • These games will be against teams from different conferences (e.g., Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Big 12, MWC, MAC, or independent programs) to add diversity to each team’s schedule. • These games won’t determine playoff eligibility directly but will influence overall rankings, strength of schedule, and strength of record for seeding purposes. 2. Conference Play as Double-Elimination Brackets: • Big Ten (18 teams) and SEC (16 teams) will each conduct their conference play as double-elimination tournaments to minimize disparities in scheduling within these super conferences. • Each team will be seeded in the bracket based on the previous year’s conference standings. • Six games will be played for each conference bracket, ensuring that each team has a fair chance to prove itself against other top teams in the conference. • Other conferences may still use traditional round-robin or division-based formats, but this bracket structure in the Big Ten and SEC addresses the unique scheduling challenges posed by these larger conferences. 3. Double-Elimination Bracket Details: • Seeding and Initial Matches: Teams are seeded based on the previous season’s conference rankings, which reflect the program’s recent performance and establish balanced matchups. • Elimination Rounds: Each team can lose up to two games before being eliminated from the conference bracket. A team that loses twice will no longer compete for the conference title and won’t be eligible for automatic playoff qualification. • Losers’ Bracket and Scheduling: Teams that have been eliminated with two losses will continue to play other eliminated teams with two or more losses, filling out the rest of their schedule. These games will not affect CFP eligibility but will still count toward the overall record and provide additional competitive opportunities. 4. College Football Playoff Eligibility: • Teams from the Big Ten or SEC that finish conference play with two or fewer losses (either in the winners’ or losers’ brackets) qualify automatically for the College Football Playoff. • This system ensures that only the top-performing teams from each super conference, who have succeeded against a rigorous bracket, move on to the playoff. 5. College Football Playoff Structure: • The playoff remains a 12-team tournament but now includes automatic qualifiers from the Big Ten and SEC who finish with two losses or fewer. • At-Large Bids and Other Conferences: Teams from other conferences can qualify for the playoff based on their record, strength of schedule, and other CFP criteria. At-large bids will consider overall strength of schedule, quality wins, and conference performance. 6. Selection and Seeding for CFP: • Seeding in the CFP bracket considers each team’s entire season performance, including non-conference games, conference bracket performance, and overall record. • Tie-Breaking Criteria: If multiple teams have the same record within their conference, additional factors like point differential, head-to-head matchups, and strength of schedule can help determine seeding. Key Benefits of This System • Fair Competition Within Super Conferences: The double-elimination bracket within the Big Ten and SEC ensures that every team has a structured path to compete for the conference title, minimizing the impact of unbalanced schedules. • Enhanced Non-Conference Exposure: With required non-conference games against teams from other major conferences, strength of schedule is more consistent across the board, and all teams face challenging matchups that enhance their playoff resumes. • Clearer Playoff Eligibility: Limiting CFP qualification to teams with two or fewer losses in conference play creates a straightforward path to the playoffs and ensures only the top-performing teams enter the national championship bracket. • Reduction of Scheduling Discrepancies: The system alleviates issues with uneven conference scheduling by having all teams compete in a bracket format, making strength of record more transparent. This proposal balances the need for strong competition in super conferences while enhancing fairness in the path to the College Football Playoff, creating a more transparent and competitive landscape for college football.
🏆 Chalice for you! Not an original viewer but now a dedicated viewer the last 2 seasons. Of all my YT channel subscriptions, this is the one channel I make sure I watch first, every morning, every day of the year. Preferred the shorter "Late Kick" title, new name is too long. Seems like Pate State would have been incorporated somehow, or maybe something about CFB Commissioner... One request to consider, ASK THE GRAPHICS TEAM TO SWITCH TO sentence-case INSTEAD OF ALL CAPS. As you can see it's more difficult to read particularly as the text gets smaller due to spacing. I don't expect it to actually happen but it certainly won't if not suggested. 🤞
'don't worry. its not going south guys. kids llistening.' lol Thanks for doing this. been listening off and on for many years and now I can undersstand a lot of the inside jokes! Do you have your travel schedule for the year posted somewhere?
I hope I'm doing this right... LMAO....I was just curious...does Oregon even get to host a game...they are number 1...and it seems like all's there getting is a bye week... when all these other teams get to host games...
I 💯 agree with you on the suit thing. As someone who absolutely hates wearing a suit I can’t agree with your statement more!!!!!! I can relate to someone who dresses the same as 98% of people who watch this show.
I hope it doesn't make me a casual that I'm getting married in the fall because it's the only time of year that works for both me and my fiancé. I'm a farmer and she's a dog groomer, so summers are too hot to bear and often her busier time and I'm busy through October. If it helps my case, I actually interned for jacksonville state university athletics for 3 years lol
Hey Josh, I have a question...Do you think that HAD Shane Beamer raised all HELL in the post game news conference against LSU...Declare that they beat LSU...but couldn't beat the guys in stripes...Ask for all the talking heads to prove him wrong...Instead of the required ass kissing of LSU is a great team, ect., ect., ect.? Is it possible it may have served him better, because most people would consider USC to be 10-2, and deserving to be IN THE PLAYOFFS?
