  • Close range intercept of the tornado that began in Round Rock, TX. Our team remained northeast of Round Rock and intercepted the tornado north of Taylor, TX as it moved over Highway 95. After checking on some locals that had gotten hit, we later caught back up with the storm after it passed Granger and watched a tornado (possibly the same one) rope out south of Rodgers, TX. We're happy to report that the family in the home that we check on was completely unharmed, though very much shaken.

    It’s amazing how many people are oblivious to the weather. I saw so many people literally driving right into or in the direction of these tornadoes.

      Mostly they are rain wrapped and just look like rain. Very hard to see

    It was both a once in a lifetime experience, but humbling. I was in Round Rock at the la Frontera shopping center where Ross, PetSmart, and Walmart are located. Everything happened so quick but visually it felt like it was going slow motion. All I could remember is trying to get to my car because I needed to get to my kids in Jarrell. But I had to go back into the store because the Tornado was moving forward.

    That is so cool and terrifying at the same time! Even more scary when the tornado was coming toward your car. Be safe & hope the weather goes under control!!

    As a kid I remember having a family BBQ during a tornado and wondering why nobody was bothered by the apocalyptic sirens. I learned 2 things that day; Texans will bbq or drive right through one and they only take it serious if the wind is strong enough to pry the beer from your hands.

    I got a bird's eye view of the forming of the Tornado in Round Rock. At first it was just several layers of clouds spinning in different directions. It was so distinct from any other cloud pattern I have seen. Next a small funnel up in the sky was formed. A few minutes later what appeared to be hundreds of birds flying around in a large circle. Initially I did not realize it was debris circling around. Then I started seeing large chunks of building material circling high in the sky. And that's the moment I realized a Tornado was barreling down and heading right towards us. We grabbed all the dogs and quickly ran to our closet to wait it out. We could hear it barreling on by. We were very fortunate that our property was left unscathed. The majority of damage was a mile to the West of us and the street right across from us had several trees knocked out. The entire neighborhoods around us lost power. I still don't know how we managed to get so lucky. Our street never even lost power.

      I was so confused when you said, "Bird's eye view." That is not a bird's eye view, but still an intriguing story.

    • @Trahzy
      @Trahzy 2 роки тому

      Yeah never assume because you can't see a funnel all the time there isn't one. Big mistake people make.

    This thing got within less of a mile of my home while my family was completely oblivious... they laughed when I mentioned we should pay attention to the news involving the weather. They didn't laugh the next morning when we found out how close it had gotten and we drove around to see the damage.

    Crazy to see those cars just driving along as the tornado passed over the road. I guess the drivers couldn’t see it. That’s one aspect of tornadoes that’s really scary, how they can be shrouded by a rain cloud and debris cloud.

    • @russellthompson8983

      That's exactly what it is. That same day there was another (smaller) tornado south of Austin, and I was one of the drivers who drove right through it, just like you see in this video. I didn't see it coming. Where I was, there were too many trees around and only saw rain, then suddenly all I could see was gray fog and very heavy wind for several seconds, and then everything went calm. That's when I realized it must have been a tornado and later confirmed it was.

    Im more shocked about the cars that are continuing to drive right in front of it and through the tornado w/o even attempting to stop. Is this so common that no one takes it seriously??

      They may have not noticed from their perspective. I drove right through another smaller tornado that same day, south of Austin, not because I didn't care but because I couldn't see it coming..It was to my side and there were many trees, and I couldn't see it till it passed over. Pretty crazy, but I lucked out - no damage to my vehicle.

      Sometimes people just don't know the magnitude of damage they can cause. I live in Laredo Texas. A few years ago we had a tornado. BUT they have never seen one before, so Hundreds of people camped on the over pass to watch it pass. I drove by like OMG!!! THEY are gonna DIE!!!

      Hard to say at this point! Based on damage, I'd say EF3 possibly. However we haven't seen the full scale of damage, as of yet. We'll see how the rating goes after the damage assessment.

    How dumb are the people driving through it. The government should just put tornado tracker equipment on every car, imagine the data we would collect from the clowns you just drive through the tornadoes. Lol. Obviously I’m joking but my god. Just send it!!! Frank hold my beer, there’s a “wind storm” in front of us, no big deal. Tornado trackers “ummmmmm you’re driving through the tornado”. Government “that’s going to be some great data”. Hahahahahaha
