Mike your humble and unassuming approach, along with your great wealth of knowledge and experience with everything to do with guns makes your channel a must watch for anyone remotely interested in guns. I stumbled across you channel a week ago and it's the only thing I've been watching since. Thanks for sharing!
I must agree with you on that point.. 3 years ago i had to go out and buy one more book case to put more gun books in ...From Phil Sharp , Elmer Keith , Jack O' Conner, R.L. Wilson , P.O. Ackley, only one book on Mauser Rifles , The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, Big Bore Revolvers , Ruger , Guns of the American West, W.D.M.Bell, Colt , Winchester, Silk and Steel , and many more plus 28 reloading manuals so far with no end in sight .. I do the same as you do , hit the book stores and used book section which are fine with me as long as no pages are ripped out ...I really don't think a person can have too many books on this subject .. Just me i guess , but all the AR rifle books i leave on the shelves for someone else.. Well said...
Great name! You are one of the few to have read that fine book. What a time it must have been - that such a book was written and published and even somewhat popular. That the book is still around says something. Thank you for writing.
Every gunnut should a have gun library. IT´s mandatory. I have collected some 500-600 hunting/gunbooks from 1850s -2017s. I have original documents among from the use of Dum-Dum bullets in India and drawings etc. Still many many detailed info one will never find on the internet. Thanks for sharing.
Mike love your work I hope your friend at the double journal is Ross Seyfried he was a mentor of mine in my 20s if only in print Loved his work and yours too You bring us traditional rifles in a way no-one else does thanks
Good points to your video. I will sometimes buy two books-one to get dirty on my bench, and one for the book shelf. Koolaid Black is right about old books, but the internet can be an even worse source of information. I am glad to see I am not the only guy that appreciates books.
You bet - books are the best! If the digital empire ever collapses - there will be just about nothing left - except for books. Glad you're one of the many and growing number of people who like and want books.
Another good video. I don't find them boring at all, they are filling a niche that no one else's are. The lack of ar's, glocks and plastic in general is refreshing if you are interested in older blued steel and walnut firearms.
Hi Roan - Thanks for the good words - I appreciate every one. I'll try to find a few copies over here - if I do - I can send you one. Hopefully they have not started passing "no reading about guns" or "gun books are illegal" laws yet. Some of the letters I get about gun laws from viewers in the EU are worrisome.
USOG That would be amazing! Thanks! Hahaha. As yet no such laws. But gun laws over here are also getting ridiculous. Our minister of police last week said he wants to bad private gun ownership. It’s never going to work though. Seems to be a trend in the world we live in today. Again awsowme channel! I bought an SR30 as result of your video of them. Was the only proper video on the web.
Boring? Not at all. Informative, educational, well thought out, experienced perhaps, but not boring. This is my favourite channel on the subject of pew pew
Not boring but very interesting! Just one thing though,"Man-eaters of Kumoan" is definitely not a novel,it`s the autobiographical account by the famous Jim Corbett of some of the man-eating tigers he shot in Northern India, but thanks for mentioning such a wonderful book.
If you enjoy the Hatcher books, I would recommend some of the books written by Phil sharpe. The weatherby book is good too. I always look for good deals on books.
USOG you’re welcome. I bought several off eBay, which in my opinion is a great source for books, I just recently got some books by po ackley off eBay for a decent price.
I want that Collector Grade Mauser book, unfortunately it's out of print and the cheapest one used I could find was $175. I know their books are good since I have their AR10 book and got the Swedish Mauser one for my father.
I like bound books but will settle for electronic versions at times. Some of these are available as PDF files, free. People should do an Internet search if they like them. Some PDF files are searchable and in the case of reference books the feature is a big plus.. Calm is not boring. I appreciate the calm, The Internet is full of hyped up, click bait garbage.
Guns and books are very important to my life. Some of your books are some of my favorite reading material and I have several of the books you have mentioned. This isn't boring material
Something of note here USOG, is that a lot of firearms books, especially ones made before the internet and the resulting ready dissemination of information, aren't by any means perfectly accurate, even if they're written by one of the greats. Ian from Forgotten Weapons is one of the greatest firearms historians we have today, and he has said as much about many firearms books. Being aware of this is very important, especially if a purchase or financial investment is on the line.
Excellent comment Koolaid Black; so many books from over the centuries and more and more information from the web - an exciting time for collectors. I seem to learn new history every day from contributors and others every day. Forgotten Weapons is a wonderful resource and Ian does a very fine job sharing his vast knowledge. Thanks for writing.
There is nothing boring about your channel. Nothing whatsoever. The videos are wonderful. End of story.
Wind in my sails - thanks!

I have Greener's book, and it's a great read if you're into the details of late 1800 and early 1900 gun mechanics. Thanks for the video.
Great name! You are one of the few to have read that fine book. What a time it must have been - that such a book was written and published and even somewhat popular. That the book is still around says something. Thank you for writing.
Best gun channel, unique work
Thank you Franco!
Your channel is awesome. So nice to watch an intelligent thoughtful gun owner.
Thank you so much. Your words mean a lot to me.

Wish I could see your library. The older books are magic. Well done even finding them.
Mike love your work I hope your friend at the double journal is Ross Seyfried he was a mentor of mine in my 20s if only in print
Loved his work and yours too

Thank you for this, as I truly enjoy books... Found several of these on Albris, and I just subscribed to the Double Gun Journal.
Hi Paul, That Journal has some gems. Glad you found some of the others. I should do another book video.
Not boring but very interesting! Just one thing though,"Man-eaters of Kumoan" is definitely not a novel,it`s the autobiographical account by the famous Jim Corbett of some of the man-eating tigers he shot in Northern India, but thanks for mentioning such a wonderful book.
Thanks Rupert! I must have said it wrong. Great book!

Thanks Ed! Good words always appreciated.

I find these and others at used book stores.

Good advice - I didn't think of PDF files etc... I like calm too.
Being a proud bird dog owner/fly fisherman... I might also suggest any of the works by the late Gene Hill.
Guns and books are very important to my life. Some of your books are some of my favorite reading material and I have several of the books you have mentioned. This isn't boring material
Thanks WC - I agree. Your photo work is fantastic!
You should scan that Mauser 66/77 brochure, it looks fantastic!!
Good idea - will do.
boring, not a chance.informative you bet keep up the great work.
Thanks Bosh
