Roaming sailors and giant whales fear Ktulu, but Ktulu fears Cliff Burton.
You meant Cthulhu
@@stefandobrev2238 there is no actual right way to spell it, or prounounce
Cliff burton fears no one
@@theradiantreddiamond2930 Fear fears Cliff Burton
@@alienduce-unocero yes
that's sound like real ktulu's scream
La vez pasada me puse a ver un vídeo donde el explicaba que Cliff quería recrear el mismo Grito de Ktulu, se me hace facinante la forma que piensa Cliff al momento de componer! Realmente un Genio.

The comment was in English
Response should be too
5:38 & 5:45
finally someone nailed it exactly like Cliff does, despite not 100% but still close
Sometimes call of ktulu appears even more intetesting than orion to me
Absotlulety right due, this song tells a hystory, is progressive, orion is just like a swish of amazing riffs, (sorry for my english, im spanish)
@@aguscabj4878 la verdad si, orion es como un montón de buenos riffs juntos, Ktulu va escalando
@@josi8569 jajajaj si rey eso quise decir en gringo
I think the very same thing very often, glad to see that I'm not alone hahahaha this masterpiece is so deep.
Master of Puppets is a masterpiece, but honestly for me Ride the Lightning is even better.
Agreed
Man, Cliff wasn't only a technical master but also the most creative bass player ever and you perfectly portray that.
+211Appolo It's so great that you noticed that!) Actually this is the mission of Total Cliff - showing how he wrote bass lines and music in general. Thank you)
It's when I watch videos like this that I regret picking guitar and not bass
Why not to play both?=)
Because i already got a guitar and amp and i can't afford to have also a bass and a bass amp
007speedcuber I understand you. I've just got my first electric guitar after 6 years of playing bass. And.I don't have an amp, all through sound card
ebay + good luck my friend ;)
My solution, I bought one of each (a fender strat and a Yamaha bass)
Do you all know Cliff Burton over here? Everyone: Hi Cliff, how you're doing...
Cliff: “Still dead, bro.”
I've just finished watching this video and I'm completely astonished. This song has really a unique atmosphere on it, so different from the other instrumentals they did... and it's not easy to find a decent cover on YT either. But this goes far beyond every level; I was expecting a lot from your cover and I have to say, the result overwhelmed any expectations I had, really really big congrats to you for giving us such a fine rendition of this masterpiece.
For the next song I'd suggest The Four Horsemen, the bass is clearly audible throughout the whole song and it makes a wonderful tune on its own possibly even more exciting and awesome to listen to.
FUCK YEAH!
Thank you so much! \m/ I'm so happy that I didn't disappoint you! I planned to do something from 1983 or 1986, so The Four Horsemen is quite good applicant) Thanks again and happy holidays!)
Andriy Vasylenko cliff would approve. well done sir
Andriy is one of the best in the bass game. Hands down.
Was going to say same thing
Look for the lyceum live bootleg version from approx 1984 cliffs bass sounds superb
Long live Cliff. God wanted Bass lessons so he called him home.
4:43 Man, you've just blown my mind with that two-hand tapping over there. I love it!!!
Thanks, I love the part too)
Cliff's recorded performances had a live feeling to them. I'm sure he entered the studio super-prepared with all the homework done, but also left a little room for improvisation.
Omg man! Your sound is really like Cliff Burton! I LOVE YOU
Thanks=)
+Andriy Vasylenko Man,but, what bass you uses?
Ibanez gsr200ex
+Andriy Vasylenko I really like it
'''ToxeR!''' Me too) But I need 24 frets
Good stuff! It's interesting to see on how different bassists play this song due to there being no master tracks and the bass is (sadly) buried in the song.
Yeah, that's interesting) This is my vision, and I hope it's quite correct. Thank you and happy holidays! \m/
I don't think it's 100% accurate, but the way you play it seems pretty close to being accurate by my ear... it's certainly a lot closer than the way I've seen anyone else play it. I'm a life-long Metallica fan, but I've always been disappointed by Metallica's tendency to bury the bass in the mix... so it's nice to see someone who has actually put the effort into trying to figure out Cliff's actual bass line to Call of Ktulu.
I really don't believe it's possible to be 100% accurate on this and I gotta feeling that Cliff liked it that way (not buried in the mix, but the freedom to express within the contexts of the song. It really is a blast to play
Lol I was just head banging with my eyes closed when I heard that squeal at 4:25 had to grab my phone to rewind it and see. Great cover man!
Thanks!)
How the hell did he do it? What effect?! I need to set that up on my pedal board!
Andriy Vasylenko how did you make that squeal
When a bass guitars voice cracks
If any of you guys are still curious, that's a pinch/artificial harmonic. Surprised you haven't heard it yet.
The Moment from the 5:39 to 5:50 with the Bass First going on a high scream and then a Deep roar chills everytime.... just a masterpiece
i play metallica and lissen (drums) from 25 years , i love metallica ...i don't see a musiciant like you. YOU ARE AMAZING with heart (sorry for my english )
Thanks a lot bro!! \m/
Don't be sorry for your English Marco. Music... The International Language between people everywhere
Jimmy Coonan That's matured of you.
Thank you mayank bravo \m/ It is the truth!!! Music brings many people together from all around the world!
Jimmy Coonan That's absolutely right. It's the love for the music which unites us.\m/
and that is how u beat a guitar chump at a talent show \m/
=O \m/
As a guitarist I agree
@@jacksonricebreadman240 lol I can also agree to that as a guitarist
We can all agree
this is an awesome cover.... all that felling cliff put on his songs, you have it.... well done Mr Andiy Lee Burlenko
Chukdriyff Lee Schullenton
those bends sound like a monster coming from the deep
Hmmm. I wonder why. 🤔
I just love Orion. But... This is for me the ultimate show of the Cliff Burton true talent (regarding their instrumental songs). Congrats Andriy. Simply amazing
This really serves justice to the mixing of the song on the album 🤘
Not gonna lie this sounds like what the isolated track would have sounded like, great job man! 🤘🤘
Mind officially blown. was NOT disappointed. Perfectly executed!
5:38-5:48 HOLY. SHIT. Well fucking done!! Amazing!!
Amazing replication of Cliff's thunder(screeches)! Gave me chills!!
7:33-7:41 I'm done. I need to chnage my pants cause I think I shat myself due to how fucking amazing that was done. You, my good sir, have just made my day! My Christmas EVE, if anything! Best present you gave us was this rendition of a masterpiece. Thank you! Keep rocking out, man! Cliff would he proud!!
Now, to downlpad this into my iPod... Hahaha!
Thanks, I always appreciate your opinion=) I'm going to do a category with my tabs and tracks to download from my website, so you'll can do it in 2016) I did my best, and I'm proud of Ktulu (but anyway it'd be better). Happy Holidays bro! \m/
+Andriy Vasylenko I'd love to do that for you, my good sir! I'm pretty stoked for that and all your other material this upcoming year!! one I am also dying to see is TRAPPED UNDER ICE! I hope to see that cover up real soon! you keep rocking out, man! Don't stop with these vids! They are gold! \m/
+Andriy Vasylenko &Happy Holidays to you too, bro! \m/
+JC _Vengenz Trapped Under Ice - it's exotic stuff) But I don't plan to make two Lightning tracks in a row, I'll do it later. By the way, have you read my book? It's on my website)
No offense but a little dramatic don’t you think
Ok, this has got to be some spiritual shit because you just did not play that without Cliff's help!!!!!!
I know this is an older video so you might not see this, but this video was probably my main inspiration for learning bass. Been playing since February and still going strong.
Still paying I hope?
Andriy, I have been a Metallica fan for quite some time, and I’ve watched many of your bass covers, this one is my favorite so far. Both you and Cliff inspired me to learn the bass guitar, and soon hopefully I could take some lessons for it, and get one myself, so thank you, Andriy, for being one of the people to inspire me to learn the bass guitar, if Cliff was alive I’d thank him too.
This blew me away. You're amazing.
thanks \m/
TheUn4gIVen me too, i probable see this video 30 times and i continue in love whit Andriy XD
Sorry for my english
Artie78 Wow \m/ Expect new The Call of Ktulu soon. Better one)
Sir I love your videos, thank you!! I think because truthfully Cliff burton was my inspiration to get into bass as a young guy, watching him on Cliff ‘Em All DVD was so inspiring & you bring me back to that place, thank you! 🤗😄👍🏼
So many people overlook being in the pocket and having a solid tone, but not you man! Thank you for making great music and not a show-off mess
Wonderful. Really this is amazing. Your right hand is so calm. If I *tried* to play this my right hand would be thumping away trying to keep up with the speed. Kind of hard to explain what I mean. Great job!
Watching this after 6 years... Absolutely mental man hats off😮
Hey dude, that was absolutely flawless! The best cover I've seen on UA-cam. You have got to show how you got the sound so perfect. Well done again dude. It's like watching it being played exactly the way it was recorded. Awesome!!
+Anthony Murphy I'm so thankful=) Will be better! \m/
Fuck yes ! Amazing cover ! Digging the tone and feel you have! Hands down the best cover on UA-cam.
+Alex Taing Thanks a lot bro! \m/ I'm going to make a video about the sound, join me here to get that andriyvasylenko.com/subscription/
I second that. This is absolutely brilliant. The second the video ended I started it again.
Brilliant job! Your version sounds insanely good
Thanks)
i dont usually press the like button , but when i do is for awesomeness
+Diogo Martins I very appreciate this, thanks \m/ Join me here if you want andriyvasylenko.com/subscription/
+Andriy Vasylenko thanks dude , watch me playing guitar on my channel , sub back, i got some metallica covers =)
***** Subscribed \m/
thanks !
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the difficulty of this song? Also, in comparison to Orion. Badass covers, by the way! \m/
Thanks a lot! Ktulu and Orion are equal this way, both 8 of 10. Hardest piece of Orion - bass solo, of Ktulu - a couple of solo fills. Without those lick my rate would be 6
i can play orion all day for you but boai i did not even dared to look at ktulu tabs
all those solos need tons of practice
4:43 maaaaan! So prefect
What a creative use of the instrument. Not just the WAH sound. The intro is so nice with the hammering on and pulling off.
Cliff died decades before I was born. As an aspiring bassist myself, I respect his art and wish that I were alive when he was making music
I review this masterpiece, without exaggeration, every year. Damn, Cliff was not only a kick-ass performer, but also a f*cking great composer. Call of Ktulu is still my favorite instrumental. I always listen with the boosted bass
perfect! the best covers that i have seen. you're my teacher bro
+Joel morera thank you so much! I'm really glad. Ask me everything and everytime \m/
+Andriy Vasylenko if i use a guitar pedal on my bass it means a proplem? its cause im using a guitar turbo distortion
Joel morera Actually that's not so big problem. But it could cut off some low bass frequencies. Anyway I'm using guitar presets from GuitarRig for my bass)
Crazy good, Cliff would love you \m/ You honour him so perfectly
Ktulu is more of an adventure, where Orion is more of a journey.
Ktulu is a freaking boss fight
Great cover bro! I play more full chords in this song just for creepy sound with effects, but this was still awesome. Enjoying your tribute to Cliff :) (sry for engl)
Thank you so much! Check out my new video) \m/
btw, which Ibanez is it? Ibanez GSR was my first bass, and this looks familiar to me :D
Yorin Lavoure yeah, that's the one)
+Andriy Vasylenko great one \m/
I would pay you thousands of dollars to transcribe the guitar solo to bass
Also great job of course, I love your style especially in this cover, it was very unique and it didn't really sound like rob or cliff
Thanks a lot! \m/ I very appreciate, you notice that. I could follow, but I hate to copy. Looking for MY sound)
Fantastic cover man! Very accurate to the Bass God himself! I especially liked how you included the somewhat "robotic" type of scream with the wah. Awesomeness! \m/
Can't get enough of this! 👏🤘
vay anasını çok iyisin be olm.. saygı duyuyorum titizliğine..
Aha türk
Aha türk
@Warcuss Vasylenko abi iyi basçıdır
eleman o kadar iyi çalıyor ki ereksiyon yaşadım.
Dönün bir daha dinleyin diye yorum atıyorum Cliff abi 7 dakika boyunca riffleri farklı tutmayı nasıl becermiş beya!
Love this song, the bass track could of been the song just by itself.
How do I explain this, your distorted sound is really crisp I guess, really clear and not like burton's (in a good way) how do you get that?
yea, I want to know too
Flaccid Pancake im pretty sure it’s those huge pickups he’s got.
Probably because andriv uses his nails
He uses the boss sd1, I believe
Most of his tone comes from VTS plugins I believe
i cant say more than you made me realize how amazing talent Cliff had put in this music
I see this man walkin into cliffs footsteps frl!
What type of Bass Guitar is that? It has a very calibrated and equalized sound , also , what kind of strings and effects are you using? Great cover as usual by the way , Cliff would be really proud of you , greetings from Italy friiiiiend! \m/
Every time I want to listen to this song I come to this video
Damn, that is one of the most sinister sounding songs ive heard. Amazing playthrough!
Been listening to this 22 years. Huge fan of old school Metalica, excellent job. Thank you.
Thanks a lot! \m/
Hey, Andriy! I think that you`re a great bass player! Love your videos. Best wishes from Poland. Play hard and have patience. Thanks for covers!!
+kubinks992 Thank you friend! I so appreciate this kind of comments. They bring me inspiration to do stuff more and better. Hope you join my AVanguard, we have to be in touch andriyvasylenko.com/subscription/

I could listen to this over and over.
0:39 genius idea I’m stealing
I have a bass guitar in my house. This is making me want to learn how to play
Awesome man !
Дуже гарна робота друже! Мені дуже подобаються твої відео хоч я і гітарист. Кліфф - кращий басист всіх часів і народів! Якщо б не ти, то я ніколи б не подумав що ця пісня призовує таку цікаву басову лінію. RIP Cliff
i came here for the first time in almost 3 years it's still a great cover dude
Cliff’s bass should have been so much louder in the final mix of this song.
5:45 always loved that part of the piece. Sounds like a powerful car flying by.
Dude that was F******** amazing Cliff would be proud. This is why he is the best out of the three headed monsters. Master pieces like this
\m/\m/
Cliff Burton was the best bassist ever... nobody can deny it..... watching him inspires me to take on learning how to play the bass I never realized how much the bass had effect
You're just Awesome man 🤘🤘🤘🤘
thanks) I'm going to play Ktulu again soon
Andriy Vasylenko I'm excited for it 😊😊
You`re so like Cliff!))
+Артем Савенко Thanks, but I don't think so) at least I'm also a bassist
wow that sound !
sick dude. just sick.
Thanks! \m/ What about my Orion? ua-cam.com/video/VPg3qsbALIo/v-deo.html
so different than cliff's tone , yet so satisfying to hear (as much as cliff's)
Very good my friend!
nice dude! you are a legend!
watching Rob attempt it looks like he's struggling hard. You on the other hand, flawless!. You should be the bass player for Metallica.
Some people believe in reincarnation. Could you be Cliff?
Hey Cliff how yah doin

You're amazing !!
=) \m/
Damn. That was an experience \m/ the right time and place you could've filled Cliff's shoes man. Great job
James, Kirk and Lars are preforming a song about Ktulu. Cliff and his bass together become Ktulu!
Sincerly, you are one of the best, if you are not the best, bass player I have ever heard on UA-cam! Metal forever! You rock! ;)
\m/
finally someone nailed that Ktulu's scream exactly like Cliff did in the original track, eventhough it's not 100% but this is the closest I've ever heard
@@toad8840 I agreed with that, none except him nailed that Ktulu scream, almost 100%, glad I found it
Awesome as always Andriy🤘😝🤘.
You bring justice to Cliff, and enlightenment to other.
Cliff was Cthulhu, creeping around in the depths of the song. When the sleeper reawakens Bass will rule all. Wah, ha, ha, ha, ha!!
Man, that's awesome. Your videos always help me. \m/
I'm so glad, thank you!) It's really important to me
Those puma screams with wah-wah are the shit. Never heard bassist do that, but Cliff.
Hi frrrrrrriends :v
Hi frrrrrriends :v it’s Franco Romero
Excelent work man!!!
Regards from Brazil 👍
Incredible! And that harmonic at 4:25 ... Fuuuuuuuck 😍
How the hell someone can dislike it? I am watching this video for months and I cannot get over it how can someone be that good at playing bass, The Call of Ktulu is a masterpiece, especially when you play it at 100% of it's awesomeness. You are a Total Cliff, and he is my best idol. Cheers, I wish I can give you a few more subscriptions :D
Thanks! I want to remake it, when I have better equipment)
I look forward to see it :) good luck mate! \m/
Altough i knew you quitted making videos, i wanted to say thank you for guiding us in our path of bass. You are the man who intreduced me Cliff Burton.
I don't quit videos, just gonna make them not often) I so appreciate it! I'm so glad to pass the passion fotward
amazing performance. You got all the small details right.
Fantastic video. What pedals are you using?
amazing job, nailed the tone and loving seeing these tracks they didnt really perform live see played out how cliff would have played them
good job
Thanks! This is an old version. Now I'd play different, like this tabs I made ua-cam.com/video/MyaW2E_cA2c/v-deo.html
Cliff Burton was a genius !!!!!
