- I just don't understand it - leaving your dog confused, alone, and having to fend for himself is just NOT OK! Luckily, Abraham knew to contact #HopeForPaws for help, and Katie McKittrick and Idan Riek rushed to get him. The rescue was easy because Meatball loves meatballs ☺️

Looks like the dog our neighbors put out where we use to live. I will never understand people that do that or people that abuse them. Before we took the dog in my partner went next door just to make sure they had abandoned her. They even admitted it. So sad. We took her immediately to the vet and she had heartworms. She was about a year old. We had her treated and she lived to be almost 15 years old.

Sometimes people go into nursing homes and the adult children could care less about the pets they could’ve just open the door and a way he goes, or he didn’t feel comfortable with whoever was coming in to take care of him and he ran away. There are people who don’t know about social media and they don’t know where to post, so there are just too many variables for people to make accusations or come to conclusions so quickly

I was inspired by Hope For Paws. My Dog (my last dog) died in August. I swore no more dogs. Then in about January 2024, I started to see a skeletol little black and tan Chihuaha Terrier Mix. I started to feed him-- not every day. We looked around for the owner. This dog had very stong bones showing due to starvation. A neighbor caught him, and then because he had 3 dogs mentioned him to us, and begged us to take him (they were expecting a baby). He is now our dog. We also have a Shepard mix who was abandoned, and a kitty I found nearly dead and frozen in the road on a winter's day. We did find the original owner. He said he did not care about the dog. So we now have our crazy Chi-terrier boi.

Someone will be blessed to have him..Labs are awesome loving pups..I have an 11yo yellow Lab laying at my feet right now.. he's all tuckered out from playin twenty minutes of his fave pastime..yep Frisbee👍..he's such a handsome athlete..he makes my world perfect 💜
He isn't a street dog. He knew a bath is good. And toys are for playing with. I wonder if someone lost him? If he was dumped, I just understand how anyone could do that. ❤🙏🌼

Yes, I’m getting sick and tired of all these videos talking about abandoned dogs. Where is the cameras showing the owner abandoning the dog in the yard? This dog is so friendly most likely escaped from their backyard owners didn’t bother to get it micro chipped. Plus a lot of people don’t know about social media, and how to search for their lost dog.
Somebody abandoned him we had them for a month and a half we fed him we took care of him. You should’ve seen how skinny he was.
Someone very likely lost their home. Its happening more.
It would be so nice if all rescues were this easy! Fortunately, Meatball found good people to trust.

People do it because dog food and vets have become hugely expensive, and the vets will only tell you about the most expensive options. I rescued a dog, and on the first "free" vet visit, he told me he had allergies, and that it would be 250 a month to treat him. Then he told me I "had" to feed commercial dog food. Fortunately I have had dogs with allergies, so I know what to give him that is safe, and he is getting treated for dollars, instead of hundreds of dollars. I hear this type of thing from everyone now, and people panic. I have a friend who only had kill shelters near them. We were fortunate that we could help, but many don't or they are so overwhelmed that they make bad decisions. And remember, these people aren't perfect either. They have made some bad mistakes over time. If you are going to get mad, get mad at the people who are really causing this.
@@ohana8535 You don't abandon an animal. I'm sorry that's how I feel. No matter what, you can find a better option ( unless of course you are homeless yourself) and even if it is a "Kill" shelter the animal has a better chance there than being abandoned. I see too many road kills + coyote attacks to justify this action. Enough said.

@@ohana8535yeah, no. There are tons of shelters across the USA & Canada, many rescues that will help. If you have, even a thought that 1) you can’t manage a pets medical emergencies 2) can’t afford to feed your pet if you became sick or lost a job 3) are planning on moving into a so called “pet free” place, etc. don’t ever adopt an animal. Ever. It’s shit like this that makes me angry. I have two cats and I’d NEVER abandon them. This is also why you should also adopt from a rescue - many will take the animal back if you can’t continue to care for it. It’s not okay to abandon any creature, ever. Vets have always been expensive, vets peddle their food as they get a profit off it. Before someone decides to take an animal into their home, they need to be responsible and think of all the associated costs that come with owning a pet. They are expensive and always will be.

I have 2 lab mixes. He reminds me of my Silas. A 2 year old black lab. I'd take him I'd I could. Such a sweet boy.

Homelessness, loss of a job, financially unable to support a dog, etc.

That’s a beautiful black Labrador and they are the best dogs for a family with children. Whoever left him on the street is crazy! I just adopted a beautiful German shepherd from my local shelter that was found abandoned in the mountains. I think it was fate because I put down 2 dogs in late 2022. One was 17yrs old and the other was 10yrs and had cancer. I waited until I found a dog and didn’t want to buy a puppy. I got lucky and so did my new friend who is only 1 or 2 yrs old. Dogs make us happy and I don’t understand why people are so cruel

Thanks for saving Meatball. What a beautiful dog! This is happening because of our economy. Many people who are barely making ends meet often find themselves having to choose between taking care of their pets or themselves. If folks are experiencing economic hardship, they can always drop off their animal at a pet shelter instead of abandoning it.
