This presentation consists of four parts: Part 1 - We describe how airbag modules work including the internal components. We open different modules and point out the different component parts and how they work. We also discuss how a collision is sensed and how the module reacts
Part 2 - We use an actual module from a Toyota Sienna. We show how crash data is stored, where it is stored in the module eeprom and how to use the Andromeda Automotive Kit to clear the data. You will see a simulated crash, the resulting crash data and then the clearing procedure.
part 3 - Using a module from a 2015 Honda Civic we show how to locate the eeprom which is in a tiny TSSOP package. We then show how to attach to the part using the Precision Probe Set. After the probes are connected we show how to read the data and clear the crash data using our template procedure. We also show the document which explains how you can make your own crash clearing templates to add to the system library.
Part 4 - Using a Subar Outback module we show how to use a crash data clearing website to accomplish removal of crash data by emailing or uploading a crash data file, having the crash data removed and then how to program the cleared file back into the module. We also show how to create a dedicated directory for saving your airbag files.
