I am always amazed how you remember all these games so many years later... even if you prepare for this, just to have the insight, the memories... much appreciated, Tom.
Spyrium deserves more love from gamers. I really liked it. Also, wouldn't consider that close to a filler. Fairly crunchy euro but definitely not overly long or overly complicated. I'd love to see it get a reprint.
I just bought Nightmare Productions a couple of weeks ago... haven't played the game in any iteration, but it's amazing. Played it with my niece and nephew who are on the younger side, and they loved it too, actually wanted to play it a couple hours later with their mom again, so I guess it was a hit, 'cuz they're rarelly ask for the same game twice in the same day.
Villainous is 6/10 for me. I really wanted to like it more, there was so much potential for player interaction but the fate deck just felt anticlimactic. Worth noting that they just released a second edition that updates the rules for four of the original villains.
Oof. A 7 for villainous. Thats a 3 for me. One of my lowest scores. Constantly getting beat down and beating down. I want the exact opposite it games- progression, level up, do more etc. And everyone has their own separate goals and deck. Its like a multiplayer solitaire but with constant take that. Its terrible.
I bought it because every channel kept saying how much they liked it. How great it is. It was not that good. I gave it away. I couldn’t even bring myself charge money for it. 3/10 agreed 👍
It's a great thematic duel game, but since the downtime is linear to the number of players there's no reason to play at higher than 2. Definitely not the family, large player count it's been marketed toward.
@@jokerES2 I guess I could see it as a duel game, but I only ever played it at 3 and it always ended up with same ending as Munchkin where everyone is about to win so everyone just has to burn all their Take-That until nobody has any left and whoever is lucky enough to go next just sneaks through for the win. I like the theme and the unique decks and asymmetry...it should have been marketed like Unmatched.

thanks for this series tom, its one of my favorites on the dice tower.
FINALLY, I've been expecting to know your current opinion about Hail Hydra for months

I feel like villainous is super overrated
