Hi Mark - another very useful video for me. Still have my part built project on the go. I am starting on the valve chest, I have noticed that the cylinder is cast (not brass) but the material for the chest that has come with the bits I have bought are brass. Am I correct is understanding that if the cylinder is steel (cast) the valve chest and cover should be as-well? Many thanks Martin.
I’m no expert, but I don’t think it matters too much. There is a risk of electrolytic corrosion, but only If the parts are wet. Steam engines are well oiled (like the builders?) so it shouldn’t be a problem v
They're silly machining errors. Nothing that can't be fixed, but shouldn't really happen. I've got some hex head bolts now, which look better, but are still a bit large. I think 'one size smaller' heads will look even better.

It's a lovely kit but qc let it down again. Think hex bolt will look better.
