American planes only work if you're flying in a squadron. If you can't kill that 109 in your first pass, he will gain the energy advantage pretty quickly. Without teamwork, planes that rely on speed don't work.

That "reserved" P-51 is probably the type of air RB player that I hate the most. It's not even like they start a fight and then lose it, they just never start the fight period. And when they _do_ finally fight you, it's only when they feel there's no risk of them dying, but are such a bad pilot (which is why they didn't want to fight in the first place) that you completely reverse their advantage, having wasted everyone's time, patience, and now they look like an idiot.
I once chased a Bf.109F-4 in a spit up to 8km, mind that he didn't make a single attack on any of my teammates or myself in ~17 minutes of the battle. And that bastard only felt like fighting when I turned away, was 3+km away and 1,5km below. Well, I accepted a head on (because I was pissed off by then and thought he will run again if he misses), got both wings crited and STILL that idiot managed to get into my sight and die, shitting himself on his way down.
There's no reason to be shy with the P51. The only bad thing I've found is the rudder compressing near top speed, and the later models eliminate most of that. It's fast, it's strong, it has lasers for guns, it's made to be aggressive as hell.
Regarding the J7W I'm kind of a plane-weeb for it. It's so weird because my experience with it is completely different to how it actually performs. Of course I also struggle with its weeknesses. But I guess i can consider myself lucky with it haha. A few patches ago I used to outturn almost everything with it. I think it was a bug because I could maintain full turns in a black-out without a much trained pilot. Maybe I also had luck with my opponents' energy states. One of my other fav things to do with it was to get the perfect positions to dive on accelerating jets, catching them as they were reaching 800kph. The guns.. I keep hearing mixed things about the guns. Maybe that's patch related too but I can usually trust them to alter the timeline to the point of eradicating other planes into general non-existance

AND there isnt even enough to higher the BR for the xp55 because not enough people are paying for it and seeing how op it can be! So in comparison the alien plane is more popular but the J7W flyers are better. So the XP-55 with the opportunistic players gets the BR-advantage I hope there will be an adjustment to 5.7 but i think it will be a long time - because it's Japan

In situations where there's only one enemy left and there's 10 minutes or less left on the clock, the game highlights the approximate grid square of the last enemy. Lets me save my blind hunts for other occasions.

P-51H with any kind of even semi-competent user is an absolute nightmare to face, and this applies to Re.2005 too, because while it can easily outturn P-51H below 500 IAS, it doesn't have the speed or guns to catch him during his BnZ attempts. It's basically "set up for reversal, P-51H shoots, you have to dodge wide, you have a shot once he's 600m away and getting away, and he easily dodges your guns, GL". And that's 2 BR steps for you. F2G while v. good, can be succesfully defeated because it actually compresses at high speed and it's not doing so well above 5km, so it can be killed without much issue. P-51H? You basically have no way of getting him out of his comfort zone and each attempt at reversal brings a high risk of getting hit anyway due to v. good roll and nose authority of US plane. Now look at what typically 2 BR steps bring: G.55 S0 vs S1 - S1 basically has more cannons. Yak-3 vs Yak-3P - same story. Bf 109 F4 vs Bf 109 G6 - G6 is a bit better armed, better cooling and energy retention, but F4 basically can out-dogfight it can match its speed and climb P-47-D25 vs D28 - both have same high speed handling and armanent, but D28 climbs better and is faster, it should win a dogfight, but if D25 player sets D28 up for reversal - he will get it if played right. Also dogfight between these 2 will take some time. Now, Re.2005 vs P-51H is a difference of 120-150km/h at most altitudes, gigantic difference in climb rate, and P-51H gets highs velocity armanent that can reach Re.2005 from way out of its reach. How is that fair? Bf 109 K4 - P-51H can do anything K4 can do, only noticeably better. Tempest Mk II - 1 BR step yet P-51H can outperform it everywhere just like it does to K4, Tempest has good armanent at least and more speed than K4 which kinda warrants 6.0 Etc. etc.

Weren't the tempests some of the fastest planes in ww2? There are stories of them shooting down V1 rockets out of the sky. Why is this plane so gutted? When I thought I was quitting for ever w years ago I remember that tempest II, the griffon spitfires, mustang H and ta152 were basically equal in terms of being able to win against eachother using different tactics. Rn it feels like they all suck and constantly get matched against jets.
Ki-87 is ok in some situations, also how tf did they mess up the landing brakes, why are they so strong? They literally dont even have to touch the plane and they break stuff, 80iq dev team.
Have you considered flying the Yak-15P? I enjoy it since it often faces US, so there are plenty of carry opportunities and the plane itself has advantages it can exploit vs the 51H and F2G.
Speaking of J7W xD CAn you make a video in the not so close future? I always willing for unlock that thing, looks so good on the paper but it flies like a brick... never catch the trick to it. Would be nice a video showing some tricks, or how to play it more or less safely.
Bind wasd to up/down/right/left roll, with q/e for right/left rudder. Set up manual engine controls (mec) on your number pad to allow for toggling mec on, toggling auto radiator etc off, 1-2 radiator open/closed, 4-5 oil cooler open/closed, 7-8 prop pitch up/down, 3-6 mixture up/down, etc. Set another toggle for prop feathering (if you have to glide for a while, sets pitch to zero). I have my engine kill/prop feathering set to the same button, though for the german air brake you'd have to set the pitch back to 100% (engine off/idle, pitch 100% for max drag=air brake). You have to switch to full controls in the menu options to adjust all this stuff, but it all still works when you set it back to mouse control. Back up your controls before messing with them, and after.
Getting set on fire by .50cals from 1km is the most annoying thing in WT. The chance of that happening in RL is extremely slim, as the rounds don't have the speed to reach the fuel tank before the incendiary already burned out. But the way damage is calculated in WT is completely arbitrary anyway.
Hey, defyn, is there any place, where you can find out the correct engine settings, when using MEC? I watched your video about it and saw the google charts, but they seem to be outdated a lil bit and do not show stuff like mixture. also when looking for it on the internet, you can sometimes find different numbers for settings and i do not know if it is because of patches and updates and which one to use now... ...because when flying planes like the Tempest here or Sea Fury, i guess any addition of horsepower can help. especially when still grinding...
I love my tempests and especially my tempest 2 but it's a plane that I think does better in sim than in RB or arcade cuz it just doesnt have any maneuverability, the maps are much bigger and there isnt a red box. Additionally gaijin put the P-51H to 6.7 along with the F2G in sim which means they will only ever fight jets (which it really should, they're kinda stupid against props), for some reason the F4U-4B is still 5.7 but at least the US is on your team most of the time and tier 4 is kinda dead.
I have to wonder if the F2G & Tempest II were _really_ bad turners, or if this is just Gaijin flight model crap. After all, the F2G was meant to be the US Fleet's primary mid/low Defence Fighter & Kamakaze interceptor. While the Tempest II was going to be the fighter component of *Tiger Force* which was the Commonwealth contribution to Operation Coronet (the Invasion of central Japan). These planes _were designed to fight and overcome Japanese opponents._ The very opposite of "bad turners."

Hey, defyn, is there any place, where you can find out the correct engine settings, when using MEC? I watched your video about it and saw the google charts, but they seem to be outdated a lil bit and do not show stuff like mixture. also when looking for it on the internet, you can sometimes find different numbers for settings and i do not know if it is because of patches and updates and which one to use now...
...because when flying planes like the Tempest here or Sea Fury, i guess any addition of horsepower can help. especially when still grinding...

I love my tempests and especially my tempest 2 but it's a plane that I think does better in sim than in RB or arcade cuz it just doesnt have any maneuverability, the maps are much bigger and there isnt a red box. Additionally gaijin put the P-51H to 6.7 along with the F2G in sim which means they will only ever fight jets (which it really should, they're kinda stupid against props), for some reason the F4U-4B is still 5.7 but at least the US is on your team most of the time and tier 4 is kinda dead.
I have to wonder if the F2G & Tempest II were _really_ bad turners, or if this is just Gaijin flight model crap. After all, the F2G was meant to be the US Fleet's primary mid/low Defence Fighter & Kamakaze interceptor. While the Tempest II was going to be the fighter component of *Tiger Force* which was the Commonwealth contribution to Operation Coronet (the Invasion of central Japan). These planes _were designed to fight and overcome Japanese opponents._ The very opposite of "bad turners."
idk, the J7W is a bit iffy... it has decent maneuverability, just not at 6.0.
