Hi Ali! Thanks for these videos. Would love to see 1. How you organize your pages into albums (the one that are not for specific projects.) ie. By person, by year, etc. 2. How do you document/albumize your travel and vacation photos/memories. 3. How do you log/store/document videos? Thank you!!
What a beautiful journey it was to walk through with you in your process. I learned a lot and looking forward to using all the ideas. Can’t wait for next year! Happy New Year Ali & Co. 🌟
Thank you Ali, I am loving your Craft The Story videos. I had no idea I could just change or turn over the the cutting panel on my paper cutter, thank you. I was also pleased to note that it not just my scissors that mysteriously disappear from my drawer...my favourite tiny pair have never been seen again.
Thanks for the printer info! I'll be looking into the oversize printer. I have an amazing color LaserJet that I use for just about everything. I love it for the price point of not having to buy ink for it. The Toner lasts for 20k pages I think? So I usually have to replace one once a year. I have it kind of alternating which is good! I'm also lucky that my hubby is a tech genius and anytime anything breaks on any of our printers, he is usually able to fix it with minimal cost. I also have the Canon Ivy which prints wallet sized photos using your iPhone, and I absolutely love that for small pics! The paper is a bit pricey, but you don't have to buy ink which is fantastic!
These videos are great, Ali, I really really love this one on your basic tools. Don't worry about the auto-focus, it didn't last very long and didn't take anything away from what you were trying to say. Looking forward to enjoying these each weekend this year - I am trying to get back into documenting, and you are so inspiring. One thing that is a big mystery to me is the hybrid/digital portion, so I really need to look into taking your Photoshop class. Along those lines, thank you for going back and talking about the printers you prefer. Thank you and here's to a new and hopefully better year!! (As far as tools, I agree Erika with her mention of a bone folder; I also like my little punch that rounds off the corners of pages).
Definitely check out my Hybrid workshop (all the basics for working with digital products to create paper projects): www.aliedwards.com/shop/classes/hybrid-self-paced
Hi Ali...been a follower since the beginning! Loving your new series...nice to get back to basics and see all the good stuff. I have a little hint for you...I have all the old Marvy circle punches as well. As time goes on, they sometimes don't punch as crisp. What I do is punch several times with a piece of aluminum foil, and it really seems to help "sharpen" them up. Hope this helps!! Thanks again for all the years of creativity and help with story telling!!
I use most of the same supplies except for the Fiskars trimmer. A couple of years ago I purchased the Cutterpillar Crop. There is no rubber piece to replace and I have never had to replace the blade because it is self-sharpening. Probably about twice the price of the Fiskars but well worth it.
Thoroughly enjoying the "Craft the Story" series. I will definitely be watching to see what unfolds throughout the year. I've been an admirer of your work all the way back to the beginning. Your authentic self shines through! I would enjoy seeing you go over/update the different ways that you capture your stories (photo, audio, etc) that is the "input" mechanism needed to tell the stories. I'd also enjoy a recap of digital tools we may not have thought of to incorporate your digital shop items (computer software or phone/tablet apps) that will work with your designs, whether for digital or hybrid use.
I am really enjoying this series of videos... and it seems like you are really having fun making them, which makes them even more enjoyable to watch ☺️
I love your use of the smaller albums and the way you use layered, flippable pieces. I would like to do that more, but I'm a little insecure with doing it, and am interested in no-sew techniques.
What a great presentation of the essentials, Ali! I like to clean my stamps after I use them, and there is a bingo-bottle styled stamp cleaner for the stayson ink.
Loving your videos! I had to smile at the Marvy Uchida circle punch. My husband has always worked in arts&crafts sales and he worked for Marvy Uchida years ago. I asked him to send you a box of Marvy circle punches as you used them a lot at that time! I have all the Marvy punch shapes, but really only use the circles the most.
I was looking at your printer and sewing machine during the video as I know those are of course, regularly used! I bought the smaller printer on your recommendation and love it!
I'm thinking I'll probably do a video that just talks about sewing on projects at some point! I'm so glad you are loving that printer - it's such a good one.
Thanks for that suggestion! I also have a workshop available called Lens Of Joy that takes you through my photo workflow (also includes information on our own photo vision + photo voice): www.aliedwards.com/shop/classes/lens-of-joy-self-paced
Love this so much Ali, and thank you for taking the time to share it with us! Can you tell us also what kind of sewing machine you use? I am wanting to get one and thought I'd love to have your recommendation.
The model I have is a XL2600i (not sure how long I've had it now + not sure that particular model is still available). I would honestly go with something super simple if I was me buying again - like this one: amzn.to/3bGx8cv
@@AliEdwardsDesignInc thank you so much! You are always so helpful. I’m so glad to have stumbled across your UA-cam video last year! I love this little community!
what is the name of the "PEN" that you use in Procreate for your quotes? I can't find a pen in that program that I like to give me the "calligraphy" type lettering & I love the lettering/font of your handwriting - just need the pen to upload and use on my ipad. THANK YOU
Hi Ali, have you ever had an issue with your XP15000 printing the photos “zoomed in” ? Cutting off the edges of the photo? I just recently got the XP15000 after seeing how amazing your prints looked and I can’t seem to get that figured out!
Hi Jill! I haven't run into that issue. I'd check the settings (are you printing from a computer or phone) and make sure it's printing at 100% or "do not scale."
Thank you for sharing all of these tips, Ali! I’ve been scrapbooking since the early 2000s and it was still useful for me! Has anyone found any solution to the cost of ink? Are Canon vs. Epson inks more affordable? I am using a new full set of Canon inks about every month and they are are close to $100 for the refills. I would love to hear ideas ;)
I believe Fiskars has a lifetime warranty. Mine wasn’t working properly after five years of use and I called to ask about repair and they sent me a new one for free!
Need a 2x2 square punch! When you talked about people stealing scissors…I felt that in my soul! 😂

Using the lid of the ink as a stamping block just blew my mind! 🤯
Yes! Awesome! It's stuff like that which makes all kinds of difference!

It's a game changer + you are so not alone!
I love a bone folder for various uses. And a “pokey” tool or awl - greet for small holes for brads.
Yes! I have those too! Definitely use both!
Oh would so love a little video on your tips to organize pictures with iphoto 😉
I second this! Or how you organize your photos on your phone.
Yes!

Thank you Ali, I was searching for a roller date stamp in that format for over a week!! This was so helpful!

I am really, really enjoying this process so far - thank you!

So much valuable info in this series! Awesome idea! 🌟
Reverse tweezers. Took me a while to get used to it but it helps so much with embellishment/sticker placement.
That cutting bar can be flipped over but also rotated 180 degrees so you actually get 4 cutting surfaces in one bar.
Yes! Thanks for mentioning that - I was going to flip the bar over in the video and I got distracted!
Great overview of products! Personally, I use an ATG gun for my main adhesive tool, as the refills are very cheap.
Yes! I know many people use those - it always felt too big in my hands.
@@AliEdwardsDesignInc def takes time getting the hang of it using it, but I found it not too bad.
Same - I like the low waste and cost. I use it for more than crafting - it gets pulled out a lot to fix things.

Mindy - check out the epson eco tank printers. I’ve been going strong on mine for about a year and haven’t refilled ink once!
Love the video! Do you recommend using the Precision Pen on photos? Thanks!
I use either that or the Slick Writer (generally a bit bolder). Either works!
