  • Lance goes hard on Pogacar today, reflecting on his own similar mistakes he made as a young rider. Today was a heartbreaker for American, Matteo Jorgenson but will he have the legs to give it another try tomorrow?

Totally agree - LA has gone off at the deep end here. Absolute rubbish. He isn’t remotely “uniquely suited” to talk about about it. People hated on him when he a) treated the peloton with contempt and zero respect, b) did that while cheating.
Tadej, isn’t doing either of those things (unless it turns out he’s cheating too in which case fear not, he will be hated too when it all comes out). But for now we have to do what we did when LA was riding and just take his word for it.
But let’s be clear, back to the original point Lance is talking complete and utter crap here.

They just wanted a close race, but after Jonas beat clean pogi in stage 11 he panicked and fully committed to it to make sure he wins

    • @WanderingSword
      @WanderingSword Місяць тому

@@jeremyclarkson9025 First of all everyone wanted to see a close race, and this Tour while if you look at the eventual time, it was not close, but the battles were still exciting to watch unfold, it was not a boring Tour, not at all.
Secondly, in stage 11 Pogi didn't fuel properly and ran out of gas in last few km's. But I see your point that Jonas winning properly did spook UAE a bit since there is the theory that "Jonas becomes better in the 3rd week".
Thirdly, Lance and especially George seem to think Pog is doping, but at the same time George says (with authority) that a fully fit Jonas WILL beat a fully fit Tadej. Ohhkay, but then George doesn't think Jonas is doping too? George is a complete Tadej hater, and this has given rise to intellectual dissonance.
Lastly, the whole mentality of "gifting a win" is a mentaliy of exterme dopers like Lance and USPostal. Dopers feel they need to gift because to atone for their guilt and to keep the official eyes off their backs. But anyone who is an honest competitor and who has worked hard to prepare for a race only race with the purpose of wining. Imagine Cavendish gifting a win, or Usain Bolt gifting a win. Asking Tadej to gift a win on the queen stage, the stage that UAE had targeted to win during their training, is just stupid crazy, and it shows how disconnect the mentality of cheaters (Lance, George, Postal) to the mentality of noncheats.

The difference is that the teams and overall race were quite close the last two years and that situations like the one you mentioned happened primarly due to strategic errors by Tadej or UAE and not because one of the main rivals spent time in the hospital before the tour. When Tadej cracked last year the gap was not even two minutes before the stage, so there was really something at stake. And Tadej not fueling properly or riding useless attacks is nothing new. This year there is basicly zero competition due to other riders being injured or teams like Visma or Quickstep being understaffed and I am suprised that we aren't at six minutes yet. UAE had very strong teams the last two editions wich get's easily overlooked. I mean, what are they going to prove? That they can beat a hastily thrown together cycling squad with main riders fresh from the hospital? If you are trying a payback atleast do it on equal playing fields.

@@5508Vanderdekken Revenge is a dish best served cold. I remember well last year how Visma taunted Pogacar when Jonas was in the middle of the TT and his sports director or whatever told Jonas over the radio and thus to the whole world: "Show the world who's trully the best." And all other taunts and jabs. So, Pogacar took it personal. He showed who's trully the best, when he is optimally prepared. He wasn't prepared optimally last year because of his wrist injury. This year the tables are turned and Jonas got back some of his own medicine. Jonas thought he will just ride over Pogacar this year because of Pog's bad form last year. Jonas was a bit delusional this year. He got injured in april and still thought he could beat a 100% Pog. Delusional. His ego got big and now Pogacar took him back down from whatever cloud he was on, back to earth and humbled him. And it hurts, the lad couldn't take it and cried. I don't remember Pog crying after loosing twice to Jonas and everytime congratulating him after Jonas beat him. And I don't see Jonas coming to Pog after every stage congratulating him, like Pog did last year. Jonas is a sore looser. His ego is buthurt.
Everybody who would be in Pog's place would've done the same to his opponent if he would be taunted and destroyed like Visma destroyed him last year, including you. Now they know how it's like. So stop playing stupid.

@@philiptornelli3477 The moment when Matteo attacked it was clear that Jonas wouldn't be attacking. That was long before Tadej made is move. And looking how the two teams are stacked comparably it just shows that UAE are greedy. I mean, everyone get's that he is on great "form" or other substances, but there is basicly zero benefit besides pissing everyone off, not just other riders and teams but also the sceptics. I have never been a huge Lance Amstrong fan, but I guess he knows a bit what he is talking about. In cycling it's a bit different that in other sports where you just can't rely on your own team alone - you are riding in a peloton with more than 100 riders. The second was the ITT in Stage 16 (when Jonas was only up by 10 seconds), and then the third was Stage 17 when Tadej totally blew up on an easy part and was done (i.e., Jonas wasn't even attacking).
And by the way, Tadej could have put some time into Jonas / Remco here -- I think what Lance is saying is not to go for ANOTHER stage win and let some other teams grab one. What I don't understand is why Matteo didn't let Yates have a chance. Jorgenson won Paris Nice, why is he being so greedy by going for this stage?

Yo Lance, remember that one time in 2000 when you gifted Pantani the stage win on Ventoux? Yeah, that didn't turn out so well. (For those wondering why: Pantani was pissed at being gifted a win)

You’re a great athlete. You are in shape. You go win. It’s your nature
If he slows to let Matteo win, Matteo sd be ashamed to win that way
Matteo wants to win b c he’s good not b c someone else is charitable.
No rewards where no rewards are due

I get it George is upset for the American, but for goodness sake, this is a generational talent. He trained up there for a month before the tour, of course he wanted to win it. Jonas couldn’t ride a bike until 6 week# before the tour. He doesn’t have the endurance, just like Pogi didn’t last year.
I can’t wait until next year if they both come through it without injury!

You're overlooking the obvious. He's not wanting just tour de france overalls. He's after Cav's all time stage wins. When you look at it that way, it makes sense. Pog wants to win more stages than anyone in history. He's like Jordan or Brady. It's that killer instinct. Some have it, some don't. It's that willingness to gamble because he flat out lives for the combat of racing that made me a fan. He has maybe 11 years to win 26 more stages. He's gonna take it whenever he thinks he can.

That australian kiss joke was nothing compared to the three biggest jokes on the screen. Pathetic dinosaurs.
I wonder why didnt michael phelps giveaway atleast 50% of the gold medals he won? Would be good if a 2nd place swimmer would end up winning for a change… cause he didnt really need to win all of them right?
