I absolutely love the details they put into Death's character. Especially the background details such as the white Cadillac being his Pale Steed and the "One Way" street sign above his car which would symbolize that there's only one ending to life: Death.

War- hotshot who likes causing chaos, likes killing in a flashy manner, turns people against each other Famine-weak old man who kills in a horrifying way, turns a person against themselves Pestilence- an older man who kills in a disgusting way, turns the body against itself Death- serene man who just kills impassionately, just dropping his victims dead where they stand Just goes to show the level of thought that went into their characters.
I wouldnt have said Death kills impassionately. he kills because that is the order. remember the episode when death wasnt around. that was like less than 10% of the chaos that would have been had if that ever happens out of the blue. might even say the guy that bumped into Death, 'had it coming' and thats why their paths crossed.
I believe this version of the song was recorded specifically for this scene, and the scene is stitched together with it. You'll notice that almost all cuts and changes in pace in the scene are matched with the different rhythms of the song.

Death is one of the few characters in this entire series I think most people wouldn't mind talking to for a learning experience if given the chance. When you watch later scenes... he is both apathetic and insightful. Things which taken separately would be deemed personality faults, but when taken together make for a potent source of wisdom. Death doesn't really care about us lower lifeforms in the grand scheme of things, but I always got the impression that... if you were respectful and gave him enough tasty junkfood, he might share some of that knowledge he knows just because he can.
He truly was a badass, feared by everyone in all seasons until that unfortunate incident in 10x23 which shouldn't even be possible so I chose to forget all about 10x23

Someone as experienced and mindful as Death . . . Would they really fall for something like that? Especially now that he knows how Dean and Sam will go for each other? Sorry for the long message. Wanted to weigh in a bit. Hope you don't mind. :3
Deeve Guillergan also longs there's the Rings they will be The Horsemen. Dean wore Death' White Ring remember and had to full fill Death's duties. So longs the ring gets pass on (like the One Ring, it find its way to a new host/bearer). It's where Token got the idea for The Ring Bearers in LotR. Not sure if Supernatural will keep to the Horsemen myth.
Think about it like this. he is annoyed by Winchester's constantly needing something from him. What better way to get them to stop then to let them think you're dead.

what occurs to me is that the other three horsemen all held out in small and or insignificant places. Meanwhile Death is having pizza and about to wipe out one of America's big three cities.
Biggest shame we never got from this show, Death free coming to visit Lucifer when he was no longer bound by his spell. one of the only three beings in existence Lucifer had any fear of, if not the most he feared.
