    The extremely key point you're missing about science (at least according to the definition you provided) is that it is empirical, not rational. We don't just decide what is empirical, reliable, and verifiable through our own pursuits and explorations. Empirical methodical scientific studies do this. That is what differentiates science from anecdotal evidence. Both are important, and anecdotal evidence certainly leads to scientific research, but we cannot conflate the two.

    I sometimes worry about the slippery slope of “different things can be true for different people”. I agree that life experience drastically affects the way someone may interact with and experience reality, but not everything is relative. Qanon believers also “research” everything and come to some pretty frighteningly untrue conclusions. I appreciate Nikki’s candor about her beliefs and opinions. I sometimes worry about her, what I perceive to be a bit, closed off world- she mentioned that they don’t leave the house much. They don’t have coworkers, etc. She mentioned that people in the comments section don’t tend to lead her to reconsider things. I’m a long-time subscriber and a fan, but those are just some concerns.

      I thoroughly agree with everything you said here. I hesitated to comment on this video because I don't want it to come off as an attack. When you're in an echo chamber there's little room for growth. The path that she's seemingly going down can be the exact right path for dangerous conspiracy theories later on.

      Or do Nikki’s beliefs misalign with yours? In fact, not even exist in the same plane as your beliefs? So does the fact she doesn’t believe what you believe propel you to call her close minded? Just something to consider.

    Thank you for sharing your perspectives on everything. I think it’s so important for people to be respectful of those with opinions/persceptives that differ from theirs. I agree with you about the changing of personal opinions. I’m the same way! I have my opinions based on the intake of information from various sources. I love hearing others share an opinion that differs from mine and I do contemplate it and file it away (mostly because it helps me to learn and level up in interpersonal relationships and I like to be respectful). I think we both think alike and I’ve been here since the beginning and wanted to say thank you for being courageous. Being an individual, is really hard these days. God bless you and your sweet family!

I hope that doesn't sound too weird lol. I honestly pray in my heart that you are healed and that you continue to take your beautiful life's example to higher levels. Today, you have shared some immensely important information with me that I, too, pray will help my husband with his chronic back pain. God bless, my dear friend and sister in Christ. Thank you for being extraordinary and for sharing the truth of what this world has become. I am yours since 2014. Give kisses to Logan for me.

    I respect your opinion Nikki. Not trying to change anyone’s opinion but I think the issue with “supposedly” was that it was a pretty dark topic and no matter if it’s completely caused by covid or not, I don’t think we should be joking about that. About masks, I agree that it’s sad however I believe we don’t need to wear them at home, parks, etc. and only around other people where we can’t social distance. So if we don’t want to wear them, then we can make the conscious decision to not go near others. Otherwise, it’s more to protect others who are vulnerable - it’s a group effort and plus, there’s light at the end of tunnel 😊💖

    First off I want to say that you did not need to put your dog down...
    You could have rehomed Bowser if you no longer felt it was a good fit. You also could have helped your dog
    this needs to be said I cannot believe how selfish and cruel you guys are.
    Your dog deserved so much better
    Caring for animals and training them properly would have been good for your pet and your family

We are slowly going through a journey of having Whole Foods and no meat. We plan to have a little meat this summer from farmers market, but anyway..just going in our own journey with it and it’s nice to see content about whole/healthy food.

But the last couple minutes of your genuine prayer to God with your pain and the last encouragement of us praying to God and crying has me all up in my feelings. This kind of transparency you have with your honesty and relationship with God and then pushing us to do the same is exactly why I follow you. 😭😭 Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

    I am very curious to understand where you come from on the covid topic. It seems like the last video wasn’t intended to be dismissive of people’s pain. It seems it was more of your feelings as opposed to an opinion and a wrong choice of word (maybe). Hope you read this. I work in a recovery residential unit, so here is my experience with COVID-19: my dad’s friend’s husband died with it. I have now known of about more than 10 clients that tested positive (most from other units. One of them experienced mild symptoms and joined the group after being quarantined. A client’s daughter had covid, and her lungs no longer work to full capacity and will need continuous treatment. So I truly want to understand your view and I want to say thank you for wearing a mask regardless of how you feel because it is helping you, your family, and others. But yes please share more about it because I genuinely felt offended (I think that’s the feeling) with what you said last time. Add to it that I have been horribly anxious since this started and hardly see my parents and brother. So it was very hard to hear you speak like that. Hope to hear more from you.

    @alexisd8190 3 роки тому +1

    I love your q&a's and chatty videos (they would be great as a podcast I think). I also love that you share your views on "controversial" topics because more people need to accept that everyone has different views and just because they aren't "normal" or what a large portion of society deems the "correct" view doesn't mean that they aren't valid. I myself have quite a few opinions that a lot of people dislike and are very rude about it, if they come up in a conversation and I politely explain my view without telling them that they are wrong or without starting an argument then most people will automatically resort to attacking my view and telling me it's "wrong" while calling me names that society has created. I think people need to accept peoples views and opinions without letting it effect their overall view of a person.

      But there is no credible scientific research that supports the anti-vaxx movement, unfortunately. Not all research is created equal. We can easily get lost in "bad" research that is not evidence-based so the length of research is not equivalent to the quality of research that is proven and tested. Also, science is rigorously tested and proven through independent research and studies. It's definitely nothing like a game of telephone; anecdotal hearsay is however definitely like a game of telephone.

    I agree with you on the enneagram. I use to looove it but when I learned more of the origins as a Christian I was ehhhh okay. It’s like this identity that we are the way we are because of a number and it can dangerously cause us to make excuses for things we do because of it. My identity is found in Christ not a number 🙌🏻

    I appreciate your candidness and integrity in all of your Q&As. I hold some very similar opinions to you, but many are vastly differing. Many of which regarding the COVID pandemic. I just wanted to state my observation in your willingness to trust neuromodulation technology (a lot of which is still undergoing research) with something that affects you so deeply, your chronic pain. In comparison, the attitude you hold with masking and vaccination.. possibly because COVID (the illness itself) has not impacted you deeply? I guess I’m just stating my observation of the cognitive dissonance you seem to hold regarding innovative medicine as it applies to you versus as it applies to the public. I’d like to hear your thought on this! Take care and stay well 🤍

    Just question if you’re child gets sick. Cov I’d isn’t always the case yet that’s all the hospitals want to diagnose. My niece had issues and yet doctors only wanted to do “the test”. Thank heavens the parents were strong and demanded other tests before the global issue

    Nikki, long-time subscriber here. I usually don't comment, but I wanted to let you know I fully support you and see where you're coming from on the mask issue, especially as it pertains to raising children. It's such a touchy subject for most people, and I honestly think it's brave of you to share your view. Thanks for recognizing the complexity of these issues. :)

    I’ve been a follower of your videos for at least 7 years that I can remember and I still appreciate hearing your opinions. I’m an atheist and am pro vaccine and pro science. That being said, each of us gets to live our lives in whichever way we choose and I respect your opinions. As a first time mom of a seven month old too watching your family live a more meaningful and natural lifestyle resonates with me. Thanks for making these videos.

    Love these videos, I agree with the other commenter about the podcast!
    Regarding the chronic pain...have you ever listened to Andrew Womack’s “you’ve already got it”? It’s a series on how your healing is already provided and challenges the way most of us pray “to get healed”. I’m probably not explaining it very well but I encourage anyone to listen to it, it totally challenged the way I pray and my everyday language - I think you’d like it! :)

BUT I’ve actually talked about this before and your comment makes me think I should again... I low key regret them. I like the way they “look” as stupid as that sounds... like I’m happy with the “results”(🙄) but the thing I regret the most is having these toxic sacks in my body... I won’t be surprised if I get them removed one day... we shall see 🤷🏻‍♀️

      EVERYONE that I personally know who has gotten Covid did NOT wear a mask. Every. Single. One.

    • @dunebuggie

      @@sw9868 I got Covid in November. I was an essential worker. I got it from a coworker at my office. We weren't aloud to work from home. I always wore my mask. I had to take it off to eat lunch at the office. The thing that upset me was that her husband had been showing symptoms for a week and they both kept going to work. She mentioned he had symptoms to us, 5 days into his illness. He got tested that day and was positive (they were told the next day). She then got tested. She had the rapid test and was positive. I was mad that I was forced to rely on other people. This couple hung out with there extended family all the time without masks. I had to go to work because I was essential. Needless to say I was sick for a month. I left that job over that policy. I work from home now. I hope people wear masks for the essential workers. They have no choice. A lot of them get no break from the risk.

    I feel the same about the enneagram! My issue with it is that it became so popular and such a hot topic among so many Christian youtubers and podcasters and i don’t like how it became their main focus and source of identity instead of Christ. All the time spent researching potential personality traits could instead be spent developing our character in Christ, studying the Bible, and rooting our faith in God’s truth.

  • @vibrantlyjessica
    @vibrantlyjessica 3 роки тому +3

    I have heard people talk about the enneagram for years- never looked into it, never looked it up, never even talked to people about it IRL, and probably skipped passed it in MANY people’s UA-cam videos. I thought it was just some personality quiz like they used to have at the end of Seventeen Magazine or something. 🤣
