- Today I visited a company called Aardman Animations in Bristol where I met a Security Officer in which I had to go to great lengths in order to inform him of photography and drone laws.
Never before has a security guard been so sure about so many things he got completely wrong.
Refusing to bring your drown down when it's in your backpack, nice one ,loved it.
You should make your own "Drone Licence" with crayons and felt tip pens. Make sure to include some spelling mistakes etc 🤣
And make sure your name reads "Jorji Costava"!

Well, I wouldn't classify it as polite, because they actually tried to make a member of the public conform to a law they made up.

The security guard thinks he knows the drone laws just because "my mate has a drone" Someone really needs to look into the SIA and it's practices, trainining, laws etc. They are churning guards out that have no clue on the laws, how to deal with the public, what their job entails, but the main one is when out of your company's boundaries YOU HAVE NO AUTHORITY.

Aztec West Business Park first developed in 1980s on prior farmland and stands for A to Z technology. Public maps and real estate brochures indicate the Park Avenue loop and footpath down the middle (behind Aarman) are publicly accessible as well as the pond area.
Why do some of these businesses talk absolute rubbish. They believe their own BS!
Considering the business Aardman is in I would have expected them to know The Law regarding filming !
Quite a dangerous thing to have such very little knowledge about something and still believe its unquestionable.
Fun fact, that security guy has a license for that hat, probably why thinks everything else requires a license.

@andrewclegg6541 A trcking cookie is deployed onto your borswer and follows you around the web or to monitor and remember things you do on a website. By failing to inform a subject that they are being deployed, is a breach of gdpr, ironic given they were moaning about gdpr.
Yes it does. It has a privacy policy that explains all about cookies and local storage. You dont always need a super annoying popup.

this goes higher up than UK law,,,,, ECHR European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms ECHR) is a European treaty in which the human and civil rights of all residents of the member countries are laid down (article 10). allows filming in the public sector, even people in public and in government buildings , everything you can see from public (even if you point into private buildings and sites) you can photo and record it since November 4, 1950, Google Earth (with zoom) google maps, google street view, DRONE LEGISLATION ARISES FROM THIS LAW, cars with a dash cam going by this law
They also fail on other laws regarding corporate websites.
No Company Registration number.
No Registered Office Address.
No VAT Number.
Not just that, but if WE have to comply with laws regarding filming/photographing then so does everybody else - So no CCTV/Facial Recognition etc.
He's great at making up laws. Luckily for us, we already have laws in this country, which are by no means anything like what he's making up with his 2 brain cells. It is actually quite dangerous to have someone so ignorant working security 😢😢😢

Strange that these production companies and tv channels never ask for permission to film yet when the public films them legally they are up in arms about it.
I think it's more the case that, as commercial companies, they require permits to record, so they wrongly assume that everyone, even amateur photographers need them too.
