Thanks, this is the first interview that I got a feel for Boaz as a person and got to see his other products. I am very impressed, but had not seen the mandolin's hidden compartment option for the Boaz One. Maybe it will be offered just prior to the final release. This video made me proud to be a supporter of the Boaz One and helped me reset my expectations as to when it might be completed. After this video it is almost inconceivable that he will allow the Boaz One to be anything other than a first rate instrument.

I only wish that the ability to transmit sound electronically between Israel and the USA was better. Many smart phone users are limited to the "cheesy-sounding" speaker in a phone. We are missing out on SO much !!! It would be so informative and entertaining to hear Boaz Guitars played side by side with some of the very high-end American-made guitars and against maybe the very old Martin guitars. I can only imagine how different they would sound when played and heard on a good sound system.
Thanks for this truly interesting video. Good luck to all. Shalom !!!

  • @marcuslewitzki4610

I am always up for innovation and this seem to be a complete reinvention of the electric guitar, bringing it to the next level. I'm especially interested in the bridge as I would love to have one of those on any of my guitars. Sadly, many (if not most) guitarists are quite conservative and locked in a very traditional way of thinking about the guitar. All the different types of wood and growth patterns, finishes, types of laquer, nut material, shapes of the headstock etc. and the guitar has almost become just as much a piece of furniture as it is an instrument these days. And think about all the decades of debate between guitarists about how all these things effect or doesn't effect the sound on a guitar and the individual guitar-identities that's sprung from these debates and opinions. The guitar has become almost like a religion with all these different branches and all of us hang from at least one or more of these branches, believing we know what's best. I'm myself "guilty" of this to a certain extent as I have lots of opinions and preferences, that's simply human nature.
But just think about how much money some people are willing to spend on a brand new guitar that has been made to look exactly like an "iconic" guitar of their favourite guitarist, with "vintaging" being done to it in order to match every single scratch, wear and tear that has accumulated on the real thing over the years. Just like some people buy expensive, new jeans with holes and wear marks to make it look like a pair of really worn-in jeans that's been through hell and back. I wonder how many old, rich farts there are in the world who has, for example - a copy of a vintaged Slash signature Gibson Les Paul, who has never stood on a stage in their entire life and yet their LP looks like it's been all over the world and back several times over the past 20-30 years, and it was actually bought recently for a shit-load of money and they hardly ever play on the thing. Now, that's an extreme example but it goes to show just what the mindset is like when it comes to guitars.
This fine instrument that Mr. Elkayam has developed over the past 25 years beautifully solves a lot of the inherent problems with the guitar as an instrument and kind of circumvents a lot of them by going back completely to the drawingboard and never creating them in the first place. The only thing that is missing for this to go viral is that furniture aspect of our relationship to the guitar. That's really not something you could easily solve since it's actually a part of the inherent problems with the guitar, both in terms of the wood in a guitar being sensitive to temperature and moisture swings as well as adding substantially to the cost of production. But still, we do have a long lasting relationship to these aspects of our precious instruments and they are not easily erased, no matter how much more sense the Boaz One makes.
To give another example of how conservative guitarists are regarding tradition, just look at the True Temperament fretboard. Here comes a guy from Sweden and solves the biggest built-in problem to any guitar that has ever been built - The fact that no guitar can be in-tune all over the neck. A guitar always has to be tuned so that a certain amount of compensation or compromise is made on each string's tuning in order for the guitar to sound enough in tune for your ears not to bleed when you play it. Guitarists all over the world, constantly having to adjust their tuners slightly when they play on different areas of the neck, different chord progressions etc. And here we now have a fretboard that fixes this problem once and for all and lots of guitarists whine about the way it looks, saying it's ugly how the frets aren't straight. So the fact that an instrument is 100% correctly in tune is (to many people) secondary to how well it matches our expectations and traditions. And if how well an instrument is in-tune isn't more important than traditional looks then that should tell you quite a bit about how conservative many guitarists are.
In fact, I wish Boaz Elkayam made a deal with True Temperament and made a Boaz One TT which would drastically reduce the cost of making one of these fretboards since the Boaz One neck is made using a mold. That would make this a done deal for me. I would buy that guitar instantly and forget all about carved, quilted maple tops, different colored sunbursts and the rest of it. I would get a Boaz One TT and never look back.

Weather in Nordic Europe has been rather "normal" for these years. Really warm winter, barely any winter at all. Followed by surprisingly warm and early spring with back winters hitting every couple of weeks. Almost snowing on 1st of may, the usual. But I have a hunch it might be a bit cold summer (as in normal to what I was used to 15 years ago). Hopefully no 30 °C this year like that last idk, 5 years, but the good old 20-25 °C.

thanks Brad for this great video I was researching actually mammoth tusk to put a mammoth tusk bone on my guitar one of my favorite guitars and it's it's out there and you know as an oddity I don't think it's going to do anything totally but as an oddity and like a cheerio I think it's really cool so I haven't actually gotten to the last stage of pricing it specifically but yeah it's out there there's plenty of it mammoth tuskit's not endangered and then like places like Russia and up in the steps and stuff like that it's pretty plentiful so yeah just thought that would throw that one in their excuse typos misspelled words not illiterate not suffering from the virus just legally blind like no one's business LOL sincerely yours, Bob the blind

The great thing about having mammoth tusk on your guitar is if you ever open your own DNA lab, you can clone one! :)

    A few things.
#1 I vote that Brad gets the Cracked beauty. Be humble all you want Brad but we all know what the first video did for the project.
#2 December is a bummer but I am happy they are doing the right thing and NOT rushing this. Kuddos to the team on that decision.
#3 I vote that us backers get a small shot bottle of Boaz One Whiskey Or B.O.W.. Surely the federal gubment would vote otherwise.
#4 Someone please send the money to whoever is holding Gordon hostage in that basement!
#5 Thank you as usual, Brad. Once again you asked the right questions and provided a great interview for us fans of your channel and the backers of the Boaz One project.

Brad, as an original backer I have some concerns: (1) In your original interview and during the crowdfunding phase, they were adamant that China was not going to be involved in the manufacture of this guitar. That appears to no longer be the case. China and quality are not synonymous. (2) They collected 4 times the money they requested, and have already spent 60% of that money. If the money went to molds, how are they going to pay for all the materials and the actual manufacture of the product? What are your thoughts?

    • @commongroundonthehill6513
      @commongroundonthehill6513 4 роки тому

RG, Gordon here. We haven't spent 60% of the money, we have allocated 60% of the money. Boaz is speaking in a second language and he sometimes is not as precise as he would like to be. We are on target to complete the backer guitars and then we will basically be broke. We will have to talk to the bank or find an investor. Shouldn't be too hard to raise the next round since we will have a half a million dollars of product already sold, all the tools for manufacture in place, a proven product and zero debt. Not a bad situation for a brand new company.

It’s a BigDGuitars bourbon barrel tele. I did a video on it recently, and he did one of it being built.

it never ceases to amaze me the resourcefulness and the ingenuity of the Israeli people. I myself in 2007 went there as an immigrant blind-as-a-bat didn't know a soul didn't speak the language I stayed there seven years and became a citizen and came back with the family reasons and often think about going back and probably will have some time they love music all types of music is just amazing amazing place to go to for Christians and Jews alike and Muslims I guess they already live there but yeah that's my spiel on Israel sincerely yours, Bob line bedroom
