Glad someone else posted this before I had the chance. I had to rewind and re-watch that a few times thinking I was missing something. At first I was thinking it seemed like a sketchy attack on the opponents part but then Seth blocked in such a way that it was a 2 for 2 trade instead of a 2 for 1 getting to eat the other creature and I was just so confused.
@@Luteloots you can see another (but less noticeable) punt. He ticks down sorin to draw with champion after he casts soot, even though soot wouldn't kill the champion of dusk and he misses a card draw.
The Heliod match where you drew all the lands proves how card advantage is crucial in those grindy games... I wonder if opponent had Dawn of Hope anywhere in the deck (also Castle Ardenvale to make tokens could have helped them)
I was under the soft lock of Sorin+Ghoul in unranked for standard the yesterday which is when I first realized this synergy. Although that was a bit miserable, it's cool seeing it in this deck with all the extra synergies!
I play a similar deck, have a couple of demonic embrace (enchant aetherborn + Vito 10 damage swing), the bojuka bof tech is sweet, going to try it from now onward, this deck is great and fun.
Seth: "I really wanted elves to be sweet in this format... maybe someday, elves." The Professor, sadly clutching his merfolm deck box: I feel your pain, Seth. I really do.
38:45 No Seth, that is a Mountain. 40:54 Again Seth. That is NOT a plains. 41:34. starting to question when/ if seth will realize it's Rakdos and not Orzhov... 41:49 THERE WE GO, SETH!
i've had a lot of fun (and quite a bit of success too) with a monoB aristocrat list that has 3x Vito (good synergy with blood artist, catoven, scorpion) and 1of ExqBlood for those magic moments. stole the list from the semis of Hooglandia, and i regret nothing
New player here. Not throwing shade, but at 31:56 was there a reason you blocked the way you did? Seems like you could have used Champion of Dusk to block the token, and Gifted Aetherborn to deathtouch kill the Dweynen's Elite, and would have kept your Champion of Dusk alive. MTG is complex - just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something
Game 3 against RB Sac you could’ve just activated Vito when you swung out instead of casting Sanctum Seeker. This would’ve presented lethal exactly no if your opponent blocked or not, forcing them to sac some of their board to avoid lifelink and setting you up for a win the following turn.
I think elves might good when pioneer masters comes out. Chord of calling, elvish mystic, gnarlroot trapper, coco and shaman of the pack should reliably Give it the Turn 4-5 kill.
It was very cathartic to watch soulsisters get crushed, the deck is everywhere post bannings and I disdain the matchup with some of my decks. Who's the better lifegain deck? lol
Personally I prefer the orshov deck in standard. With revenge to one shot them. Mainly because people don't fear Vito as much as they should in standard
Do you have to commentate every aspect of the game? Like ‘play the land, pass the turn, opponent gets to draw a card, opponent draws 2 cards, llanowar” etc
He got it on the third time. 😯 But he pronounced silversmote right every time. 🤦🏻♂️ Goal, girl, gorl, I swear I heard all those. Edit, he did not say silversmote right everytime. I got too ahead of myself.
The only good attack is with Knight of the ebon legion. Maybe the trade is favourable but it also prevents him from holding up eliminate since he has pay 2B to pump. That might be his reason. Attacking with the 3/1s makes no sense even if they come back because it lets the opponent block and gain life. Both blockers have lifelink.
@@Zosh_ @Zosh OK but he'd gain life during combat with lifelink and serra ascendant would grow before state based actions are checked. The ascendant would be smaller during combat and he might have to block with Alseid to gain enough life to grow it. If you attack with just the knight of the ebon legion he takes 2 from triggers and goes to 29 so he can just single block with his 2/2 serra ascendant and gain life up to 31. By the time it would normally die it's back to a 7/7 and lives. If any other creature attacks the Alseid can block it and gain 4 life without dying. He can gain 6 total with a shrunken ascendant so if fewer than 4 creatures attack he can at least get back above 30. If all 4 creatures attack he takes 8 from triggers and can't get above 30. Then he can't block profitably with the ascendant but he can eat the sanctum seeker with alseid.
Very cool deck and cool matches, but I think your plays were veeeery sloppy during the third round against the last sac deck. Of course it happens and it doesn't mean that we don't love you ^^ Sorin + Silversmote would have been incredibly strong for you, you knew it, and you botched it by greeding a little card draw and letting him be killed by Judith. You cantripped your best card :3 Overall it's striking in this round how much you underestimated your opponent's deck. You thought you had the game locked up several times, but being at 1 is hardly a problem for a sac deck with two ovens and a blood artist on the battlefield. It snowballs really quick. Victory seemed so close and yet so far. The turn after Sorin died (46:30) playing Sanctum Seeker was probably a bad choice as well. It's not that impactful and if you go tall you will get chumpblocked more easily. Instead of this 4 drop I think it was better to play Knight + Vito and go wide. Knight would have grown at end of turn. Then with Vito you could more convincingly threaten explosive double damage. All in all I'm probably going to give the deck a try, it looks quite fun :D And you piloted it well (albeit not during the very last round lol)
I quit Arena because my 17 land aggro deck would mana flood 66+% of the time, mana starve another chunk of the time, and I'd get a reasonable game extremely infrequently. I bet they have a handicap system to prevent skilled free players from continuously trouncing less skilled players who spent money.
Be careful on MTGA. If you assemble Vito Blood and your opponent is at a high enough life total, draining for 1 will make you tie the game. The game isn't going to let you resolve 50 drain driggers, the infinite loop machine will complain
Seth 2018: Hit my swans, draw some cards.

Dude, that intro. I thought it was never going to end. You expressed the 'infinite drain" title very well. That was awesome lol

Ha, I wasn't sure how it would go over, I'm glad you liked it :)

It more of an infinite intro^^

At around 31:50, why trade both creatures? Couldnt you block the 4/4 with Gifted and the 3/3 with Champion????
