    I've ALWAYS been intrigued with the plausibility of ancient mythology being based on reality. It's refreshing and exciting to see somebody who takes that concept seriously and actually compares these ancient stories with known science and archaeological discoveries.
    Keep 'em coming!

      You may well enjoy Dr. Robert Sepher’s UA-cam channel, as well as his books. He is known to many as “the World’s Most Dangerous Archeologist” as he refuses to be bought and told what he can and cannot research or share regarding findings. He has a channel in his own name, as well as “Atlantean Gardens”, an older channel that contains his findings. He uses a phenomenal amount of evidence and references multiple cultures, religions, beliefs, and ancient practices.

    As far as El Derado was concerned, I like to think that there's a funny possibility that the natives were just messing with them in hopes they'd get lost in the jungle XD

    • @thetrustysidekick3013
      @thetrustysidekick3013 6 років тому +42

      El Dorado isn't a native american name, though. The Spanish probably had their own beliefs that a city of gold existed somewhere, probably exacerbated by their lust for gold at the time.

    • @EmilioReyes_97
      @EmilioReyes_97 6 років тому +17

      Asmodeus I know its a Spanish name. But I feel the idea had to start somewhere, it's not like the natives stoped them or anything XD

    • @thetrustysidekick3013
      @thetrustysidekick3013 6 років тому +23

      Emilio Reyes
      I doubt the natives could've stopped them even if they wanted to. The Conquistadors were probably awed and baffled by the display of gold and it's use as purely ornamental by the natives and needed very little convincing that somewhere out there was a city decked out in gold.
      It was a less enlightened time.

    • @TeatroGrotesco
      @TeatroGrotesco 6 років тому +48

      Emilio Reyes I like your idea. As if they were saying, "You think we have gold? You should see, whadda ya call it, El Dorado. Yeah, that is where you should go. Leave us alone, go get the real store of gold.👍"

    Perhaps one of the most rational, open minded, and comprehensive documentaries on the topic of lost civilizations I have yet heard. Excelleny work and thank you for the well presented information that takes care to note that these places could or could not have existed. Too often I find presenters desperate to ram their theories down our throats as truths, and skeptics half hartedly dismissing what is possibly solid evidence. Thank you again.

    The story of Shambhala was the inspiration for the story of Shangri-La and the book and movie “Lost Horizons” which depicts a hard to find civilization high up in the mountains near Tibet with a temperate climate, peaceful society with advanced technology and where people live hundreds of years. The film was lost for decades but most of it has been found and restored with portions where the sound is present and photographic stills are used. It’s a great movie with a kind of Twilight Zone appeal.

    An uncanny coincidence is that the ancient Incas had a word for a blend of gold and tin called "Atl". And their word for place was "Antis". If you put them together it becomes Atlantis, the place of gold-tin. There is a lot of this metal in the Peru area and we know the Incas had advanced tech for their time. Sometimes I wonder if the Incas were the inspiration for the story of Atlantis. But it's way more interesting to think of a super-advanced ancient nation that might have been hit with an asteroid or something.

      Peoples of all faiths have done it. In fact it is probably safe to day the ones responsible had faith in things other than God, or were no different than those who are willing to do bodily harm to those who don’t follow them. Can you say AntiFa and supposed nazis? Many cultures carried likenesses of their war god into battle and siege that end in massacre. No culture, race, or most religions hold a monopoly on bloodletting.

    I love this video. In our modern world, we rarely realize what civilizations could be real. They are either relegated to the realm of fantasy, or people think it isn't worth the time to investigate them. But, that supposition is false. Who decides what is real based on their belief? We have moved beyond the tenets of what science tells us is real. Thinking beings such as ourselves should broaden our horizons. There is a whole world to explore.

      @thats1coldfish896 every civilization has a story of a great flood. We had to live near rivers and stuff happens. Floods wipe out villages. Towns cities or whatever. When people didn't travel far their world was very small. I think that's where the stories of Floods come from . Not necessarily Noah's Ark. But just that we were reliant on rivers for our food, travel (boat, barge) was faster than on land travel, livestock etc

    Aristotle, a pupil of Plato, believed that Plato had invented the story of Atlantis to teach philosophy but Crantor, a pupil of Plato's student Xenocrates believed it to be historical fact so there was controversy even at a time close to Plato's telling of the story in his dialogues Timaeus and Critias, which are the only account of Atlantis.

      @MST3Killa 6 років тому +2

      Atlantis by name (and description), yes, but other civilizations have their own 'version' (in a sense). The whole thing might be allegorical like that of Prometheus, but generally there's SOME kernel of truth. Maybe a civilization that wasn't necessarily advanced by any of-age standard, but one far enough that myths grew from their vaguely known existence.

      If it was only a story by Plato, why Herodotus, made a map, before Plato, in which he drew Atlantis, in exactly the same region as today Richat structure in Africa? Plus the story of Atlantis, is not from Plato per se, is from Solon and because of that I don't see a REASON why Plato would tell a story of another one.

      Not necessarily. A crater from an asteroid hit was very recently found under the ice sheets of Greenland. It's thought to have hit about 12,000 years ago, with an explosion that was 47 MILLION times as big as the Hiroshima bomb. Yes, 47 million. It's thought it caused the huge rise in seawater that happened about then, when the waters would have risen more than 30 feet in a single day. That's like the Indonesian tsunami happening around pretty much the whole world at the same time, except the waters didn't go back down, they kept rising over the next few years. We like living on coastal, so cities there would have been totally erased. It also set off a devastating ice age that lasted over a thousand years, making it very difficult for those who survived the impact and floods. Gobekli Tepi, in Turkey, which is many times larger than Stonehenge, and much more sophisticated, was intentionally buried at that time as well. Lots of reasons for a civilization to disappear besides hubris.

    I could watch your documentaries all day. The people who survived the disaster deserve our utmost thanks and praise. We would not be where we are today if it had not been for them. They could have just given up but they saw fit to invest in the future of the human race by teaching what they knew to others.

      It was probably sky goats. They were pretty prolific back in the day. They'd ride in on the clouds and then swoop down on their unsuspecting victims. Thankfully through a mix of hiding underground and improved air defences we eventually whittled down their numbers.
      That's not to say they're completely gone though. They're still about, floating on the clouds, avoiding aircraft and large population centres. They figured it best to avoid humans less they be wiped out.
      They do plan on rising up eventually though, so we must be wary. They're growing in number every spring, estimations put their population at anything from 6 to 9.5 million individuals. In another couple of decades they will be a threat once more.

Possibility and probability don’t always disagree as you so clearly express and if in the next few generations we don’t bomb ourselves back into the mesolithic, we may find some definitive answers🤷🏼‍♀️

I try n listen at night when I'm trying to fall asleep and like I said her voice relaxes me but she always tells such good stories like "ok it 200am the story is another 35 minutes and I gotta be up at 600am so if I go right to sleep the very moment she stops talking that leaves me 3hrs 25min to sleep "

    Secondly, there was a . . . medium (for lack of a better word) named Jane Roberts who, back in the 70's supposedly channeled an entity called Seth. In one of her books, Seth describes three distinct civilizations that were more advanced than we are presently that existed before us. Of course you have to buy in on the channeling, but the accounts are very interesting.

    • @acmenipponair
      @acmenipponair 5 років тому +3

      Yes. It was burned down by the romans, by the christians. And there was also a fire in muslim times, but the muslims had already made copies of the books and brought them to bagdad and also to Constantinopel (the byzantines had good trade with the muslims). We should also not forget: Alexandria was, unlike urban legend tells us, not THE library of the antic world. but ONE of them. There were libraries of this kind also in Rome, in Konstantinopel, in Bagdad etc. The library of rome was destroyed during the german tribe invasion. And we got to know again the old texts, when Konstantinopel was sacked and the scholars went to Italy with all the books they had. There they then reestablished our modern history.

    Anyone notice @ 28:13 displaying an ancient map of Atlantis, it shows America and Africa on the opposite sides of the map. I did notice the direction the arrow on the map is indicating North. Not sure why the map would of been drawn this way but it does Make me wonder of the much talked about pole shifts throughout history and that were described by historians that possibly sunk Atlantis. Very interesting.

    3000 years in the future.
    Now we shall explore the legend of the ancient and mysterious land of America, it’s inhabitants called it USA for reasons that are now obscure. America was a marvelous land where at first they worshiped liberty and independence but then their kingdom succumbed to corruption and the mighty American empire fell. Many tried to rebuild this great land the legends say, however then came what ancient scholars called the great disaster and America was lost all together by convergences of land and it was sunken deep under the waters of the ocean.
    Is all of this really true?
    We don’t know for sure but there has to be some truth to it, it was written about and mentioned in so much of the text back in those times and with events that led to what our scientists now call global climate change which occurred back then it is highly possible that the ancient land of USA America did in fact exist.

      Spirit. We used to be able to harness natural energies modern science ignores on purpose. Imagine where we could be had Tesla been succesful in creating unlimited free energy worldwide. All those oil rigs and many if the other industries would be next to useless, natural gas next to useless etc. I think a civilization managed this in the past, and broadcast that power around the world perhaps not even letting other civilizations know it existed. Or perhaps in functioned on its own well after its creator civilization collapsed. Any other civilization that learned how to access the system would have thought it to be a religous experience.
      We could bioengineer crops to grow in all climates and distribute the food better and feed the world 10 times over with 10x less land used.
      We could be using bacteria and fungus to clean the world of pollution.
