- The legendary Ravi Shankar demonstrating and talking about Indian classical music
Ravi Shankar : Sitar
Alla Rakha : Tabla
Yehudi Menuhin : Violin
A Hindu, Muslim and a Jew . 3 great maestro of music. Look at the peace and positivity and bliss that they create. Music is considered to be an easier path to spirituality which transcends every segregation and division and any such negativity enforced by human for power and greed.
jim casper God bless u
Wish more folks were as observant and respectful as you
All musicians of high caliber, are saints in my opinion. Yet the world sees them mostly as bums. That is the tragedy. If the world were run by musicians… We would be in a much, much better place. Lawyers? Think about it
Bravo
Music has no religion.
There can never be any reason to dislike India's heritage. One can only be disappointed with the people forgetting the heritage.
Never again this will happen on earth.....divine music.
yes dear...it will never happen again....legends
Manab Mitra even if it happens, without a room for doubt, you won't live up till then to see that
+Dude why you are angry ? what is wrong ? you have to hear and see how difficult to play sitar or tabla.... they are master.
Music takes to Divinity, this path will not end
@Joe Joseph iPods, rap and hip hop: all negativity.
As a drummer I am enthralled by the sublime beauty of this. Alah Rakha is not only master, his drumming is filled with such joy and humor!
I think music is the only thing that has kept humanity alive..
Correct correct 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I like Ravi Shankar when playing because he can explain the melody as well as the rhythm. It's not just a spontaneous play without direction...it was designed...in purely Indian traditional music.
The blending of Indian and western violin was done so beautifully. Most of todays fusion is unbearable. All three of them great musicians. thank you for posting.
Very true
Blessed are those who watched n heard it in person !
এক অসাধারণ মুগ্ধতা। ধ্বনির ঝংকারে, সুরের মায়াজালে স্বর্গীয় আকুলতা।
Kobi kobi Bhab, chhonder obhab🤣🤣🤣

I am 50 years young. How many of us do realize that our legacy heritage is fastly about to be extinct? I find it very difficult to co-exist witht the modernity of 21st century. May be this is all of us face when we grow old.
I am 12 years old and my teacher and I are obsessed with "old cultures". They will never die, but their listeners usually have parents listening to it, or just plain love it.
@@banjoonfire3906 old cultures are facing extinction in the Amazon.
We're just in a juvenile stage at the moment as a species
You’re right.
'Modernity' ?
I beg to differ. Cars, dresses, LED lights don't make things 'modern'. Thoughts do that, and sadly our thoughts are running towards middle era. That's where the problem is.
I am late here, but it's heavenly. Sitar and violin both at best.
Better late than the alternative!
Exactly
The great trio made this performance a world class music ,with so melodiously it will remain evergreen.
Not 2 but 3 human beings with amazing talent that dares to touch the Wings of God within all. Thank you for this superb presentation.
VISHUDDHATMA yes ,n,deed.
Also Alla Rakha is a legendary player. Father of Zakir Hussain. They are greate!
it alwayf fasciated me to see Zakir play with Anoushka. Its like, my generation of this music
Loving the musical fusion of cultures here.

Annabelle Drumm

Whoever still has a very old Record of Raag Pilu by Gnanprakash Ghose on violin and Sujit Nath on Guitar, please upload it. They are the pioneers of combining Indian and Europian(guitar) musical instruments to play Indian Raags.
They compliment each other so beautifully. What an amazing sound!!
is Anybody sad for they won't be able to listen them again in their life?...
It’s sad that others may not do music like this
The best proof that there is absolutely no difference in the hearts of western and Indian music. Never seen such a beautiful combination of Indian and Western music... and I was crying.... because I could never hear the legends together anymore... pranams to the trio...
Immortal music
Immortal souls.
I don't understand a bit about Sitar or Violin, but find this fusion so soothing and heavenly that I often listen to it. Beauty of fine music... Pranam to the maestros and thank God for creating such human beings!
Ravi Shankar Ala Rakha and Kamala Devi at concert for Bungladesh was the best of Indian music ever played in New York
Oh my. More. MORE! Thank you for posting this! I didn't think there was footage of that collaboration anywhere! From "In Celebration" in the mid 1990s...all that time trying to find a good master of "West Meets East..." WOW.
Upvoted with applause and anticipation.
Mesmerising treat- all 3 instruments and maestros combo...They ensured brilliance n class
Melodious! Speachless!! 3 legends
Brave move from Yehudi Menuhin and a great honor to play with these great indian "artists"

One of the great, inspired pairings! I believe this is taken from Menhuin!s "The Music of Man"
Yes it is. I remember this scene from that documentary, together with the birth of occidental notation system and evolution from monody to polyphony.
magical @ 05:55 . I'm gonna hum this bit in my mind, and its not gonna end..

Ohh my goooddd...legendary combo❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
and no music scores! thats what i love!
Amazing musical tunes give enthralling enjoyment : Hats off to these veterans .
What is the big eye-opener is the fact that Ravi was not only a master of the sitar, he had to be a master rhythmist as well. That is what makes Indian music so unique. I have always said everyone should learn to play drums and percussion first. It is the skeleton of everything in music.
Music is the food for soul. What better feast could be?
Very nice all of you sir
Soulful, heart touching and divine.... Truly matchless
