I wonder if people realize how difficult this is, to actually get the timing down with the real ride. I have tried and failed many times. This is quite the accomplishment!
I did have to modify the original video a bit, as the lift speeds are much slower, and the game has slightly more friction. However other than 3-4 tweeks to the video it pretty much matched exact.
Pro tip : you can watch series on Flixzone. Been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.

Absolutely gobsmacked. This is spot on. Even the timings for the trains to "duel" are correct (they are meeting at the correct points). Give this creator a medal.

This is a very, very, VERY impressive recreation of The Smiler coaster. I am very impressed with this and also, this recreation makes me want to hop on a flight to England and ride the actual ride irl; it made me that hyped! Distantic, you have created an absolute masterpiece here!

Amazing job! One thing, did you have no choice but to use LSM's for the lift hills?? Does Planet Coaster not let you use chain lifts?
Really amazing build again, Distantsic, definitely the best re-creation of a real ride I've seen done in Planet Coaster. And great spotlight Jonny - it's very cool that you took the time to sync up the real ride video!

Wouldn't it be awesome if people who are so dedicated to recreate or build rides would be put into a team with engineers and all people who make rides in real life, like with their creativity and enthusiasm they would probably design the best coaster of all time :D
I checked this out when it was first released. Truly incredible and as I've been on it IRL its so much cooler to see how how realistic it is.
I was honestly expecting him to get a rank upgrade for this. I'd make him the highest level possible if it were me cos this is truly something incredible that takes real talent and patience. Bravo Distantsic!

Distant yep! I'm going in June on this so I'll see if this is accurate. Two things I noticed was the 180 dipping turns after each lift hill were a little off and the max height was little too low. Incredible creation nonetheless

I live not far from Alton Towers and this is one of my favourite rides. Credit where its due its very accurate, you can see how long this has taken you.

Ahh, Alton towers, I *love* that place. Been there a couple of times, it's actually a really fun place! I'm not a huge fan of big rollercoasters, but this place is amazing!
Also that is *exactly* what the smiler looks like. I'm surprised that someone can git it that close! Props to the guy who made that!

This and Nemesis are my top rides! Especially Nemesis all of the low flybys are insane!

The Que is accurate minus the bit before the main entrance. Fast track this ride and your on it under 5 mins.

It's an amaaaaaaazing recreation. The theming is soo well done. I think the only little flaw is that the trains in real life aren't floorless. But as I don't play Planet Coaster, I don't really know about the types of trains you can select, so they might just be the best selection. Anyways a very good recreation! Yay!

The queue for the Smiler is hellish when you're waiting in it for 2 hours and that music is repeating continuously!!!! Haha I loved seeing the real coaster side by side, couldn't believe how well made and in sync this recreation was to the real thing! :D Well done Distantsic :D Also I love the start of Oblivion you've got over there xD

The smiler was the only ride to actually scare me when I went to Alton towers, and I rode sheikra in Busch Gardens happily
Towers is my home park so I've been on this to many and this is actually perfect. Everything from the janky roll to marbleizer is like detail perfect!

I do love this creation, it's awesome! But the one thing I would say is in the dark section - I know planco is not good for darkness - maybe add some black basic shapes around the track. Also, the coaster seems kinda unsmooth or it's just that I've been watching Variable Gaming too much recently.
The track is smoother in track view but yeah variable makes some amazing coasters.
Distant you and variable need to team up so he makes the coasters and you do the theming!
The man across the street this coaster is actually very smooth, I went and rode it in track view because seat view makes it look not as good as it actually is.
what u did not notice is that the ride has custom triggered sound affects but in the latest version of planet coaster custom audio on triggered affects are broken or bugged and they don't work like they should.

Whenever I hear the name the smiler it reminds me about the tragic accident that happend Infront of my eyes when I was in the queue to ride it I was scarred for a week and it has kind of disappeared from my mind now 😣

This is extreme fan dedication. Superb job and more so to Jonny in getting that ride video to sync up so perfectly. The only two things I noticed were the NPC's clipping through some odd light-blue thing on the ground in the cue line at 0:47 and the word "CORRECTED" missing under the arrows at the Half Way brake junction (oh, the arrows and words don't match in scale for each side compared to the actual ride footage). Nonetheless, these are minor nitpicks. Definitely one of the best re-creations so far IMO. Oh yeah, one other thing I almost forgot. In the ride footage, the beginning drop and roll before the lift hill tunnel are in the dark. How come the PC creation wasn't like this?
The odd thing is a scarefest light that i forgot about, the word "corrected" was removed from the ride entirely in 2015, and planet coaster light physics hurt me :)

I take inspiration from real roller coasters and create my own frankenstein monster of the track layout. I don't know if my coasters are as good as this one (I'm still on my first park and I'm not halfway done)

Hoping to upload some of my coaster designs soon, my biggest issue is making realsitic coasters. I seem to have to build them 50ft taller to get them to the correct speed to make it around the track. If I have a 100ft drop that should be around 55-60mph right, able to make an 80ft airtime hill too ? Any tips apreciated. As I do not like building 200ft tall coaater just to get them to go 60mph.
Reducing friction is always an option. Takes some fiddling around in the options menu but can allow that extra touch of realism. I believe 0.9 gets Steel Vengeance to function the same as the POV provided by Cedar Fair, so it's probably right for steel coasters. For wood coasters I personally like to use 0.8 because of how atrocious their friction setting is.
You know when a ride has beeen in action for anfew years and the tracks wheels line become less painted and the track becomes a bit dirty, does that happen in the game
