I experience the famous Cathay Pacific's hospitality and sample some fantastic fine dining and champagne (Krug vintage 2004). I also share some secrets on the First Class experience. As for Cathay I'm so glad the experience lived up to the CX of old.
Like many native Hong Kongers, or adopted ones ( I've been in HK 31 years so its very much home now) we have a special place in our hearts for CX. There's a lot of nostalgia we feel and obviously the airline has been through some very hard times lately, made even worse by a government that's actively hostile towards them for purely political reasons.
I'm frankly amazed Cathay are still going despite all this and I'm so so happy they can still somehow pull off 1st class to this standard with all the issues they are facing.

@@loveflyingandhotels Thank you so much for your response! We fly from LAX to Hong Kong to Sydney and then back to Hong Kong and to LAX. Right now it looks like only one of our flights has first class. But we will do everything we can to get it! If we do it will be an amazing experience. But even if we have to settle for our business class seats I’m sure we will love it.

Your voice had a very relaxed tone, you could watch the video and still listen to you with out being distracted ie not loud, \mono tone ...i hope this makes sense. enjoyed the whole video and memories of the same flight some 20 years ago, would love to be able to complete it in first class next time

Since the civil aircraft industry are still struggling with the "sound barrier" the last 3/4 century, you have no means of getting to long distance any faster. Airlines , with their bigger planes, still have the edge in range. I think the best bang for the buck is business class. First class is only worth while if you have a load of points or get upgraded or you are forced to fly long distance because your private jet do not have the range to cover AND you likely have a long and unpredictable stay at your destination. Another advantage of first/ business class is you are away from the engines, just in case it lose a turbine blade and the sharpnel hit the fuselage.
Yes I agree! I would be interest in knowing what was your best cabin experience, with which airline and route.
That’s why I hate flying on first class because I gain weight with all that food 😂

You went first class, lol, you lucky bugger!! You're a true inspiration to people like me, you always see the positives and I'm humbled that you manage to overcome a disability and still produce such excellent and quality videos.
You deserve to travel first class, because you share the experience and you are very humble about it as well, which gives people like me an aspiration to meet one day, and also to you, total and utter respect because you see it as a privilege. Again, thank you so much for the kind words. Thank you for noticing my disability, although I mention this in some of my videos, it’s not always understood. I don’t include subtitles, and I think some people watch the videos without sound or skip some parts and don’t realise that I am 99% blind. Although it may not seem it when making these videos, but I do put a lot of effort into making these videos and I really appreciate when people like you notice these things. Could I ask you what was your best flight and do you collect air miles?
@@loveflyingandhotels Hi, Our best flight was actually on Cathay Pacific to the Philippines pre covid. Everything on the flight was as good as it could have been, excellent food, a very comfortable flight , good movie selection and excellent timings. Cathay also gave our baggage priority tags as the connection in Hong Kong was fairly short.
As we're a family of 3 we travel economy, but if ever I'm alone it's premium economy.
We used to collect the airmiles with Marco Polo, and my wife has upgraded with them before, but these days we tend to go with Singapore or Emirates, as the Wife likes to make the most of the 40kg per person baggage allowance haha.

You are very lucky and I’m sure you will enjoy it! I’m not too sure on that particular wine as it was my first time on Cathay Pacific, so I can only go by the menu. But I will give you two tips! 1} if you are planning to ask for pyjamas so that you get a good size that fits you and 2} if you are planning to have a cart restaurant in the lounge, then book that as soon as you enter the lounge as it gets busy. How did you redeemed this flight for 48750 avios? the normal price should be 123750 avios.

Great video, but why does EVERY first class reviewer have to ALWAYS sit in seat 1A? I don't know why I find this so annoying, but I do.

UA charge u 200,000 miles one way, can’t even get first class, only Polaris class, it’s suck, food is no better than premium plus class, Cathy definitely is much much better than UA, I will switch to Cathy
Yes I hear this a lot about UA but I haven’t tried it yet. Truthfully I am nervous! 😆 but I am heading to the US soon and will be flying a bit so May get to experience a little although it will only be domestic which isn’t the same. Any tips welcome! Will be doing NY to Hawaii.
it’s a joke with the food on UA the cabin crew service is hit or miss sadly the well trained internationally based crew are all gone. but the polaris seat is comfy tho
