Great, complete video. Thank you very much. I had been researching for days trying to understand its insertions and finally understood it perfectly with your video.
A good way to remember the action of the Pectoralis Major, is to think that in birds this is the muscle that flaps the wings, with also the same name Pectoralis Major.
I think 'shoulder' generally referred to a joint where axial-appendicular body parts are attached. but birds fly using their large pectoralis muscles (pectoralis major and pectoralis minor ; which are antagonistic to each other), when one muscle contracts, the other relaxes. and yes, they both are located near the shoulder. sorry for my english anyway :)
@@captainsandwhich7469 the work in conjunction with many other muscles, but pectoralis major tends to bring arms down and across the torso vs shoulder bringing them up and out.
@anatomyzone your videos have been my saviour in medical school. i can"t even trust all the other anatomy videos on youtube because yours are literally clear and very understandable. i would like to ask that you make videos on the organs of the abdomen and pelvis please. i"m a huge fan!!!
Bohemian Rhapsody I think they showed the abducted position to show the adduction by the pec major. Abduction is performed by the deltoid and supraspinatus
@@41mudassirshah64 Cool, then also check out "crash course anatomy/ physiology" and "Khan academy".... also the website "kenhub" that has an awesome app for learning anatomy...

That is my understanding as well..... also.... dont understand sternal head action is to extend to anatomical position..... contra to the fibres from the origin and also externally rotates humerus whereas he states one its function is internal rotation
I have a small muscle just under the outer-lower part of the pec(just under the nipple area). What is the name for this? It seems to be distinct from all of the muscles around the area, and difficult to activate in isolation.
Learning some stuff for my workouts because apparently watching or being instructed in the gym is not helping me understand or find that connection to my muscles. I know it sounds ridiculous, because practice makes progress… but I just don’t feel the activation, I think. Or maybe I do and don’t realize but with stuff like this I’ll know for sure. So thank you. It’s also a little funny to see some people that are students stressing to make a career out of this information while I’m just trying to be able to shake my ass and flex my small titties at the age of 60-80 by learning all of this … a little too much maybe..? I feel like this might by my OCD acting out now that I keep rereading my comment. My God I might be stressing as much as the students.
Great, complete video. Thank you very much. I had been researching for days trying to understand its insertions and finally understood it perfectly with your video.
Thank you for the video! I would like to add that the main function of the pec major is horizontal Adduction (think chest flye).
Best video ever! Understood everything in 04:33 minutes 😍😍

the animation at 1:32 was super cool! thanks for the anatomazing content!

Isnt that what the shoulder does? Im really confused.

would also like to complement you on you presentation skills. very clear concise and to the point.
I like how you include the part of the actions of the muscles 💜
Love the AZ videos, especially the newer one with animation that demonstrate the movements. Thank you for doing these.
The best way to study anatomy. Is to study from your videos!!! Thanks so so so so so much

Best anatomy tutorial .
One of the best explanations of MSAK 💪👍
Much appreciation from INDIA 🩷
@2:49 you say Adduction of humerus but the characters is doing Abduction that is taking the humerus away from midline.
Bohemian Rhapsody I think they showed the abducted position to show the adduction by the pec major. Abduction is performed by the deltoid and supraspinatus
They do mistake...
Adduction will be there.
amazing! thanks for these videos. got me thru my exams !

Awesome.. This is so grt.. I could actually understand better whn i can see this
isn't adduction of arm = towards midline of body? @2:46
Fantastic presentation, thank you.
Awesome tutorial 🔥🌟💪🏾
This is too good! Where were u in my UG days?!

Just hit the CC option at the lower right-of the video. There's your captions.
U may have passed mbbs now right ?
didn't understand how pec major could do extension when it connects to the front of the arm, thanks for the explanation!
Perfect video!
binge-watching muscle anatomy to level up my drawing skills :D
I'm doing it to improve my workouts
That was fascinating
Wow! Fantastic !
Doesn't the pectoralis major also preform horizontal adduction?
super explained.... tq sir
Since pec major does adduction and medial rotation, does it also do abduction and lateral rotation?
its good , it kinda tells me that i should be doing those side planks , and push-ups
Ultra Valid 🔥💞🔥
Amazing 🤩
Doesn't the pec also horizontally adduct the humerus also?
Thank you 💜
Thanks for your vedio
It's great
great...great..great vedio
Can you make one for pectus deformities please
Isn't the addiction made in the horizontal plane?

@@alvinkan3940 This is what I thought as well yet if you do an exercise to mimic the video the pec will indeed get worked.
thx great video
Thank you.

Wow so awesome. Would have been even better tho if u included a bit details on pectoral fascia.
I have a small muscle just under the outer-lower part of the pec(just under the nipple area). What is the name for this? It seems to be distinct from all of the muscles around the area, and difficult to activate in isolation.
It seems to be the pectoralis minors connection to the fifth rib. It seems to be larger and more pronounced on the left side.

People do bench press to work this muscle...
Doesn't make sense unless it's the narrow grip for flexion of the humerus which you rarely see.
