Have you seen consultants damage their reputation? Or are you worried about things that could damage YOUR Reputation? Love to hear your comments

Thanks so much for the heads up. I value the fact of honesty in this to say no. The fact that the opposite happens in terms of this could win you the client in future. I am a new Business Consultant with 20 years of key accounts management expertise, so really agree with the
fact that building the relationship the right way will build your reputation for really wanting to make a difference and not just be one of those fly by night money hungry animals.
I think we as new consultants need to really ask our selves why we are doing this to begin with to understand where our hearts are in terms of the service we are offering our markets. If we are to lead people in the right direction, we need to know why we are doing it, for who we are doing it and whether we are able to suggest to them to who they can go to if we are not able to help them with that specific challenge.

I couldn't agree more. Thank you for sharing. That's powerful.

Thanks a lot for this more practical advice. I need your guidance though on how to handle a situation where the client is consistently changing the scope of work making progress to be slow and feeling like you are now giving too much for the agreed fees. Making it more difficult is that the client is probably among your first clients starting consultancy work. How can one handle such a situation or you can do a video on that?

That's why proposal writing is so important. It must contain a very clear scope of work. What's in scope as well as what's out of scope, so you can refer back to it. And you have to learn to say NO, and push back. Some 'unprofessional' clients will take all they can get! Good clients will often ask for extra work to be added and pay more for it, recognising it is out of scope.

Thank you and great topic. After watching this video, may I ask your thoughts on communicating or not communicating the infancy of the business in the developmental stages (1st year)? Although I may have 30+ years in the specialty I consult in, I just started my consulting business 30 days ago.

I think if you are asked directly, say you have just started. But they are hiring you for your ability and experience, not the age of your business. It's always a bit of a juggling act with a new business.
