Well u know as a black guy, I didn’t even know what it looks like. We don’t get it
As somebody with a massive sunburn right now, that photo of skin cancer is true horror.
I was out for 6 hours and I got a major sunburn
i had spf 30 on and only applied once and stayed out for 5 hours. big regret
Last mother's day I stayed out for 6 ours and got a 3rd degree burns and I got it so bad I couldn't where a shirt for a week or two
i’m mixed and i went to the beach yesterday and i didn’t put on sunblock bc it was cloudy as hell and i came home and the back of my legs were hella red and i took a shower this morning and it was burning so bad
I was out for like 2 hours and thought I was so cool without sun screen and now I regret it 😭

Being outside and exploring the world excites your curiosity while free radicals excite your electrons :D
Yep! Exactly . I went on a really long hike the other day. I had bare arms, and even though it wasn’t too hot I have extremely sensitive skin.
As ever, I really enjoyed this. I'm one of those people who never burn, and this is due to me having the genetic condition, neurofibromatosis (type one) I don't understand why this is, but it is commonly the case with people who have it. We often are also vitamin D deficient too, from what I understand of it our skin cant absorb certain parts of the sunlight properly; resulting in the deficiency and the lack of sun burn. Neurofibromatosis type one is a mutation of chromosome 17. It can cause a host of problems, i'm long term disabled due to it; but the ability to tan well is a silver lining. Tho we do still have to be careful in the sun as the cancer risk is still there and slightly raised. So only a thin lining on that cloud. Anywhoo, great video :)
Sammy Holden I wish I didn’t burn
Biggest flex
I think I have that problem too. My skin never burn instead it tans quiet fast. Tanning too fast makes me curiosity that whether can form cancer. Sorry for English. I'm not a native speaker.

even when I use sunscreen properly I still get burned!

it only protects a certain percent of your skin, i once tested this by putting 40% sun protection sunscreen on my left arm and none on my right, after an hour, my right arm is crispy and burnt while my left is still red
Because white people have low melanin in skin and when ever things hurt their skin they got burnt or damaged in skin.

very hoo hoo shh
So my arms, shoulders, and back are filled with billions of dead, decomposing DNA. Id like to unlearn this please.
I was out swimming for 5 hours only my cheeks got sunburnt and it hurts so much 😭
Ya’ll need to stop including “black people” in this conversation.. be specific… appreciate it
Me and my twin always get sunburn we haven’t had it in half a year but we’re really white and we once had the itches sunburn Omg it was so bad though our mum told us not to have a shower because it will go but come back worst I couldn’t take it so I had a shower couple days later we formed blisters ohh they were so wierd but they looked weird and my twin and I couldn’t take it so my mum was like “Ok you guys hate it I will pop all 20 on each side even though it wasn’t big but I warn you. You’ll have sensitive skin ok” and me and my brother were like we don’t care as long as it’s gone my mum was such a legend I love her because she wants the best of us and really kind to everyone and if theirs something bad like my asthma she will to everything to prevent it from getting worst I’m a bit sad thought I have asthma and my twin doesn’t btw were not identical
I hate being pale and looking like an lobster after swimming 🥲
This was fantastic! Something new to tell the kids I lead at day camp when they are being stubborn about reapplying sunscreen :)
what causes ingrown hairs? what causes cysts?
Regina Sclafford cysts are caused by skin bacteria that clogs pores, and ingrown hairs are caused when a hair is pulled out and before it can grow back a thin layer of skin forms so that when the hair does grow back it gets blocked.
I have very fair skin and I get sunburned easily. I am always so scared that I will develop cancer from it. I am burned right now and I am literally crying because I am so scared.
Calm down
I did marching band camp the summers before my freshman and sophomore high years. The first week was always the worst. It was painful from constantly holding up my instrument for long periods of time and my body not being used to the rigorous activity, and no matter how much sunscreen I put on, I always ended up tomato red at least once each season. I ended up with a nice farmer’s tan though. 👍
There's an Aloe growing from a shoe behind you... just thought I should let you know o.O
Just what I noticed too. Really gross, a soggy smelly old shoe. :-)

I thought sunburns were harmless and only painful. Now i'm sunburned and freaked out!
lol I was playing flag football for a championship yesterday but we had a playoff before and a hour break in between. In the beginning it was foggy and raining then, suddenly the sun popped out and now I'm burners to a crisp
I used sunscreen and I still have sun burn and I tried jumping in my cold pool, alocane, and a. Cold rag but nothing works it hurts so bad😫
My advice is to sit in front of an AC, not a fan because it just makes it hurt more. AC should help though
Get a sunscreen with more protection?, thats all i can think off, and use aftersun or aloe vera cream
Excellent video, wonderful host! Nice work, Anna!
I just had a small sunburn, now i think I have skin cancer lol.
I've only got one sunburn and it was only hot, I was outside for 5 hours on a clear day in the middle of summer.
Soon you get a sunburn best thing too do is give the burn some moisture like lotion it’s important it’ll speed up the recovery process. Drink water again it’ll give your body moisture and help
Im literally crying my sunburn hurts so bad IM NOT OKAY
I got a sunburn today it's so bad I can't even put a shirt on or lay down or move

I, too, sunburn super easily. Physical sunscreen is my best friend between 10am and 4pm in the summer.
I just put on my long sleeve t-shirt and my hat so I don't get sunburnt. My skin is really weak to the sun so after like 45-60 minutes I get a really bad sunburn. It doesn't help that sunscreen feels weird.
I don’t get sun burned ..I’m black btw
With each second of typical sun exposure between 50 and 100 thymine dimers ("kinks") form in the DNA of each exposed skin cell. Our body's DNA repair mechanisms are AMAZING!
I am super glad I never get sunburns, because if I got them easily with my lifestyle I'd be a mess.
if you really want your sunburn to go away, add coconut oil on the parts that are burned. not only does it make your sunburn go away quicker, in relieves the pain also.
You shouldn't apply coconut oil to sunburn because it can trap heat on your skin and prolong painful inflammation. Coconut oil isn't an ideal moisturizer because it is too thick to penetrate the skin properly.
I whacked it down my left arm yesterday after being put for an hour and coming back in slightly red. Today, it’s fully brown and the skin on that arm both looks and feels a ton healthier and better moisturised than that on my right arm. Maybe all it did was moisturise the skin (mine is usually a little dry) but either way, I can’t complain.
so basically use sun screen or die. got it.
Black people from the Congo are kings of melanocytes.

what does aloe do for sunburns?
I am also curious about this. If I get a sunburn, and lather it with aloe or a lotion containing aloe or cocoa butter, the next day the burn is typically gone-- without peeling. Why would that be? Why would aloe or lotion both soothe and seem to repair the damage?
uhh maybe because the gel of aloe has soothing/healing properties

Man all these people with extremely peeled skin from sunburns make me feel blessed that I have so much Dutch heritage. My ancestors worked a lot in the fields and mills. So I have more melanin than my like sisters who have British heritage, and I don't burn often and if I do it usually just mildly hurts, then it becomes a tan. That's why I don't even really have to sunbathe much. I just go outside in the summer, and I tan like crazy.

Is peeling the skin off of a sunburn when it starts to peel really bad for your skin and if it is, why?
I'm light skined and I have a sun burn now I'm darker 😣😔
Well, I got stuck in a rip tide for over 2 hours while kayaking so I had to swim more diagonally off the shore. Got out after kayaking 4 hours in the blazing hot Florida sun- from 11 am to 3 pm. Did apply sunscreen before going out, but still got badly burnt on legs, feet, and arms. Even got 2 small blisters on my arm. So thankful I got all the bad pale Irish skin genes and my sister got the ability to tan....
Glad you are ok

I live in India, and sun screens are unheard of, we never use it and hardly available in stores. Same goes for dental floss
Not exactly india has pretty high skin canced rate
I’ve never had a sunburn in my life (or at least not that I remember) it’s not that I never go outside. I go outside A LOT in the sun. And I live in the southern parts of the US. I should consider myself lucky, but I also don’t tan easily which is a bummer. Lol
Wasn't this so much fun!❤️
So sites that, after a sun burn, became freckled is that a result of the melanin being altered and left higher than the counter parts?
I don't remember exactly, but I think freckles are caused by unequal distribution of melanin. Sun exposure activates it in the same way a tan does. I think because people who freckle tend to me very fair, they are still at a high risk of skin cancer regardless of the freckles.
Hmm, I'm curious about something in regards to the spots I saw on the skin of a person depicted at 3:46
I have a bunch of spots on my skin that look like freckles (my grandmother called them angel kisses), and there used to be a few, starting to appear on my shoulders, and eventually I started seeing them everywhere else. Each year, even in areas that don't see the sun, I would see a new brown spot. Is it due to sun damage on the skin that these freckle-like spots are appearing? Or could it be something else? I've tried to find the answer to this, but I'm still uncertain.
Just like brim stoker's Dracula
I live in Texas and play tennis everyday and I apply masses of sunscreen everyday and I still get dark and sunburn every time I go out it’s like my skin doesn’t like me :(
noone gets sunburnt in "few minutes". like, noone. even much fairer blonde people than this woman doesn't.
