    As ever, I really enjoyed this. I'm one of those people who never burn, and this is due to me having the genetic condition, neurofibromatosis (type one) I don't understand why this is, but it is commonly the case with people who have it. We often are also vitamin D deficient too, from what I understand of it our skin cant absorb certain parts of the sunlight properly; resulting in the deficiency and the lack of sun burn. Neurofibromatosis type one is a mutation of chromosome 17. It can cause a host of problems, i'm long term disabled due to it; but the ability to tan well is a silver lining. Tho we do still have to be careful in the sun as the cancer risk is still there and slightly raised. So only a thin lining on that cloud. Anywhoo, great video :)

It was painful from constantly holding up my instrument for long periods of time and my body not being used to the rigorous activity, and no matter how much sunscreen I put on, I always ended up tomato red at least once each season. I ended up with a nice farmer’s tan though. 👍

      I am also curious about this. If I get a sunburn, and lather it with aloe or a lotion containing aloe or cocoa butter, the next day the burn is typically gone-- without peeling. Why would that be? Why would aloe or lotion both soothe and seem to repair the damage?

    Man all these people with extremely peeled skin from sunburns make me feel blessed that I have so much Dutch heritage. My ancestors worked a lot in the fields and mills. So I have more melanin than my like sisters who have British heritage, and I don't burn often and if I do it usually just mildly hurts, then it becomes a tan. That's why I don't even really have to sunbathe much. I just go outside in the summer, and I tan like crazy.

    Well, I got stuck in a rip tide for over 2 hours while kayaking so I had to swim more diagonally off the shore. Got out after kayaking 4 hours in the blazing hot Florida sun- from 11 am to 3 pm. Did apply sunscreen before going out, but still got badly burnt on legs, feet, and arms. Even got 2 small blisters on my arm. So thankful I got all the bad pale Irish skin genes and my sister got the ability to tan....

    So sites that, after a sun burn, became freckled is that a result of the melanin being altered and left higher than the counter parts?

    • @Roll587
      @Roll587 8 років тому

      I don't remember exactly, but I think freckles are caused by unequal distribution of melanin. Sun exposure activates it in the same way a tan does. I think because people who freckle tend to me very fair, they are still at a high risk of skin cancer regardless of the freckles.

  • @Hitsuji-senpaiVT

    Hmm, I'm curious about something in regards to the spots I saw on the skin of a person depicted at 3:46
    I have a bunch of spots on my skin that look like freckles (my grandmother called them angel kisses), and there used to be a few, starting to appear on my shoulders, and eventually I started seeing them everywhere else. Each year, even in areas that don't see the sun, I would see a new brown spot. Is it due to sun damage on the skin that these freckle-like spots are appearing? Or could it be something else? I've tried to find the answer to this, but I'm still uncertain.
