      I went for the first time last year by myself and it was an incredible experience because so many people are into the thing we are into. Hope you meet some awesome people. Also many developers of the games are there too that you will be able to speak with.

      I go solo just about every year and it’s great! You get to decide exactly what you want to do, and kind of make your own schedule and plan.

      @@SpecificallySolo that would be a nice thing

    A bit further out, but Elf ‘n Moon, a new game store in the Fountain Square area, will be open 24 hrs a day all week starting Monday and have open tables for gaming.

      Oh nice! I’ve heard of Elf ‘n Moon but haven’t been able to stop by yet to check it out!

    Im so happy to hear about the open gaming section - im sadly a first timer and didnt realise the event ticketing system could sell out for tjings like watching the ennies (big sad) and i thought i was gonna miss out on a lot of ttrpg stuff

    • @SpecificallySolo
      @SpecificallySolo  4 місяці тому +1

      Yeah the open gaming is great! I would make sure to check the event catalog Wednesday and Thursday especially. People more than likely will be returning event tickets and something might have a ticket pop back up!

    Do you know if it possible to get the GenCon 2024 Catalog prior to the Convention? Like a week or two prior to the Convention. You mentioned that it can be picked up at Will Call on the Wednesday before, but I'd like to see it sooner if possible.

      They usually post it online right around that timeframe! I always find the physical version easier to look at, but you should be able to view it online! It’ll likely be on the Gen Con website in a few weeks!

    I’m going for the first time and I can’t wait. I was told that you can park at the mall. Is that true and if so is it close?

    • @SpecificallySolo
      @SpecificallySolo  4 місяці тому +1

      You can park at the mall (it’s the Circle Centre Mall). They raised the rates a few years ago, I think it’s $30 now for the whole day? That parking garage does have a skybridge that connects over to the convention center which is nice!

      I would encourage you to also visit the Gen Con forums. People there are friendly and can answer any first-time-visitor questions. I hope you have a great first experience.

    Never been to Gen Con but plan to go this year. Do you need to pre-register for a game or sign up when you arrive? Also a lot of talk about board games but I assume they have rpgs too like D&D right?

    • @SpecificallySolo
      @SpecificallySolo  4 місяці тому

      So you can pre-register for games, the event catalog is up right now. Some things are already sold out, but lots of events still have tickets! You’ll just have to grab those tickets at will-call when you get there. You could also get what they call generic tickets which can be used for any event that has room. And yes, they have lots of RPG and D&D events!

      They have a helluva lot from every kind of tabletop game, amongst many other goings on. Great variety, you'll have a blast. Disneyland for geeks.

      Not too far outside of the city! About 45 minutes from downtown.

      @@SpecificallySolo Cool! It's my first time attending Gen Con and also my first time visiting the US. I'll arrive on Tuesday, so if you have any tips on "must-go" places to eat and cool comic shops to visit, please let me know! 😁

    • @SpecificallySolo
      @SpecificallySolo  4 місяці тому +1

      @@robertcoelho5199 Sorry, just saw this! So a really classic Indy restaurant to go to would be St. Elmo's if you like steak, although it is pricey. Some other good ones close to Gen Con (and cheaper) include Shapiro's, which is a deli, The Slippery Noodle which is a bar with good food, The Old Spaghetti Factory, which is a chain but has good Italian and I also like Goodfellas for pizza which is on Mass. Ave. As far as a comics store, I think Downtown Comics might be the only one, but it is right downtown, so not far at all.
