    Hello,
    I am working with the Honda GX390 engine. I need to determine the valve timing, how can I do this or do you have this information? This is the information I mean;
    1) Intake valve opening angle:?
    2) Intake valve closing angle?
    3) Exhaust valve opening angle?
    4) Exhaust valve closing angle?

      I imagine you are using this engine for a high performance application? There are forums for "Carting" such as 4cycle.com/karting/threads/honda-gx390-stock-timing-what-are-you-getting.87635/
      The information is probably not release from Honda themselves as they don't want to be messing with warranty claims and such. Hope this helps........

    Should the valve clearance be set with the motor warm and not completely cold?

    • @autotech4103
      @autotech4103  2 роки тому +3

      During assembly you don’t have much of a choice other than redoing it. The manual doesn’t specify so I will assume the numbers they give is for a cold engine. A hot engine would need less clearance.

    Hello, I have a question, although I have made all the connections correctly, the engine does not stop, which part may be defective?

    • @autotech4103
      @autotech4103  Рік тому

      To shutoff the engine the ignition coil is grounded. I would try removing the wire from the coil from the plug and try touching it to ground with it running. If it works the problem could be how it’s wired or the kill switch.

    Would the valves being out of adjustment cause it to pull gas into the crankcase,I'm having problems with gas getting into the crankcase and I've rebuilt the carb and still having the issue

    • @autotech4103
      @autotech4103  Рік тому +1

      If it’s a four stroke engine then I would assume it has a float stuck down or a hole in the float so it never closes. The only way for fuel to get into the crankcase is by washing down the cylinder and getting by the rings. If it’s a two stroke then that’s a different story

      I'm going to try and put a new carb on it and see if that changes anything. The valves were where they should be.thank you for your feedback.

    the triangle arrow on my flywheel is not on top dead center, is this a bad thing?

    • @autotech4103
      @autotech4103  2 роки тому +1

      The recoil hub and plastic blower mounted to the flywheel are all located by lining up pins. It’s possible that yours has put together improperly. It’s a pretty easy fix. Just take off the red cover and flywheel nut and pay close attention to how the blower and hun are suppose to go.
