Glad u talked about this, when I was younger I didn't pick up on the fact that it was supposed to be a backdoor pilot as an attempt to give Alyson Stoner a show. I've come to the conclusion that as a standalone episode of TV it's entertaining but as a That's So Raven episode it kinda sucks because it takes the focus away from the characters we know and love.
I was gonna write a whole thesis about how oh my god, characters like Chrissy Collins and her ilk in children’a media did nothing but fuel the fire of internalized misogyny and make me expect every school would have a group of queen bees to be taken down, when it turns out that kind of shit is so minimal and most people are just trying to live their lives and girls need to learn to support other girls and break the cycle of internalized misogyny and Instead I’ll just say golly gee this video sure was ginchy!
“Internalized misogyny” lol give me a break. girls mostly tear down other girls just for the hell of it. If the world consisted only of girls, itd still happen.
I forgot all about this pilot. I remember watching it on TV on the time thinking, "WOW we've spent a lot of time with this lil actor girl but what about Corey? Isn't this supposed to be his episode?" Looking back I can definitely see how Hannah Montana took this concept and went to the moon with it. I'm sure in an alternate universe the original show would have been fine for Disney Plus.
damn alyson stoner has the worst luck. there was a fireside girl backdoor pilot in phineas and ferb and the show never got made. i would have loved to watch that when i was a kid
The worst thing about backdoor pilots in an existential way is how they're presented in-universe. Like, suddenly, your universe has been hijacked by somebody that you just saw this morning.
Yeah that is so true, cause the focus is being taken away from the already established characters we know and love for all these strangers who we may or may not ever get invested in again
This reminds me of Martin Lawrence's sitcom Martin it was supposed to have a spin-off titled Goin for Mine with Tichina Arnold as Pam where she becomes an A&R for a record label and it never got picked up
@@justtia1031 facts I always felt that spin-off should've been picked up by either the WB or UPN and for that spin-off not only Pam was on that spin-off, it also had Dondre Whitfield, Jenna Von Oy went on to star as Stevie on the Parkers, Tyrese and the late Anthony "AJ" Johnson as well
Even though it never became an official Show, I would have liked to see how the show would have done. Alyson Stoner definitely would have been a great lead character
Alyson Stoner still got to be Isabella in Phineas and Ferb and was in Camp Rock! She did pretty well for herself! Plus, she was in cheaper by the dozens!
I learned on Quinton's video that Game Shakers came as a back door pilot on Sam & Cat . Basically , all the Norman Lear shows in the 70s were backdoor pilots of each other .
I didn't know until recently that Better Days was an inspiration for HM. Just look at the background and the layout of the school. Felt too familiar re-watching it on Disney+
Wow, I never got a connection between that episode and Hannah Montana. This episode was just out of place. I guess it was just an episode because Cory only got a part saying one word, lol. Edit: Now, that episode from Raven's home where she is dog sitting, was hilarious. Everytime her cell phone would go off, it would drag her places. The part when it drags her up the flight of stairs was the funniest!
Alec please make more videos these are cracking me up 😂😂😂 I got sad that I saw you haven't posted in 7 months! Hope you just got busy and will post more in the future
More is coming! I post about my progress in my community tab, but TLDR: I’m working on a HUGE video, like over 4 hours long right now. I still have about 2 hours still left to edit the visuals of, but I THINK it should be out by the end of May. Thank you for watching and for being concerned about my videos, your patience will pay off!
This video just popped into my hime page & after watching I'm surprised you have 1K subscribers only??? This was a full production and I thought you had around 300k-500k subscribers if not more. The jokes, editing and commentary is top notch, I gotta say!
I do remember this episode lol had no clue it was a backdoor pilot at the time though. And I do remember it seemed different from a regular That's So Raven episode. Funny thing I also remember is Cory's plot in this episode kinda mirrors another That's So Raven plot in the dancing episode when a fan got to be the hall monitor for that episode and he had one line. I remember the behind the scenes of him preparing for his cameo and everything.
The pilot was actually for hannah montana. It didnt fail because of hannah montana coming from the fact that the same people who made hannah montana made that's so raven..
This episode of “Goin Hollywood” actually turned out to be Cory dreaming at the end of the episode so I don’t get how it was ever supposed to be taken seriously from jump street! 😏
Also , Alyson was the one bit guest star on all these shows. I know she had a hard time as a kid but thankfully she seems grounded and never became a Aaron Carter or Lindsay Lohan 😛 It's a good thing she never got her own show. ..
I actually always remembered the line "i play the flugelhorn" cuz i was like wtf is a flugel horn? now im a music major and im happy to see she was indeed holding a flugelhorn in the talent show
The talent show scene just unlocked a memory I didn't know I had. Never knew this was supposed to be it's own pilot, I only recognized Alyson from Mike's Super Short Show back then!
I just watch the episode and I realise that it was meant to be a spin off (haven't watch the show in years), I decided to check UA-cam to see why it didn't get picked up and how ironic you make a video about it yesterday.
Love the video. I loved this episode as a kid lol. But just a heads up Jackeé is pronounced jack-aye. Tho I doubt she will even come up in your other videos 😂
I don’t know if you know this already, but in recent years Keke Palmer has revealed that she did a pilot for Disney Channel called Keke and Jamal. The show was about the titular siblings who were normal kids, but Keke’s character was pursuing a music career. The actor who would go on to play Cooper in Hannah Montana played Jamal, and Vanessa Hudgens was also in the pilot. It seems Disney had the idea of a TV show about a kid wanting to be both normal and famous for a long time; Hannah Montana just perfected the concept.
I do remember hearing about this when Keke first talked about it. Very interesting! Obviously Disney Channel had been pursuing the "Celebrity but still just like all of us" show for a while it seems haha
-Disney- hard at work (actually lazy 💤) at STEALING IDEAS from other shows, that's NOT NEW... BETTER DAYS was a BAD COPY of HAPPY DAYS, both '50s themed sitcoms with young people, difference being HD took the "Grease / Rock N' Roll road" while BD took "the'50s - '60s sitcom road". And all of this mixed up like... 👇🏻 Hannah Montana, that was taken mostly from the JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS cartoon, both being about young women that on different circumstances becomes pop stars while hiding it from the public (Disney couldn't afford any sci-fi effects either).
By looking long and hard and not being afraid to go onto some sketchy websites lol, this one I remember I had to screen record the episode from a random website, I couldn’t download it from anywhere. Sometimes daily motion might have episodes but it hasn’t been as helpful lately.
Logon does the same thing to Rory and in the reunion is super shitty to her. Jess is Luke (basically her step dad) and Logan is her bio dad.... Jess is better
Logan never forced himself on her, why r u lying? Also how is Logan shitty to her when she willingly is sleeping with him knowing he has a fiance? She chose to be the other woman? If anything she's shiity to her boyfriend Paul
This whole video was hilarious! I too never understood the point of this episode, i know it was suppose to be a glimpse into a spin off but this whole episode was just a throw off and unnecessary lol. Raven’s 1 vision never made any scene, they could of kept that lol. 😭 And to this day as an adult i still don’t know exactly wtf a Sock-Hop is.
I didn't know this a Was a backdoor pilot 😂 I also remember seeing a young Miley Cyrus or some recognizable Disney star there in the crowd when I rewatch that so Raven a few years back
I know it's unfair to compare, but Ducktales (2017) did the 'backdoor pilot' correctly. They planted a few references in a couple episodes, (Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System and Friendship Hates Magic) we see Launchpad bond with a fellow fan in The Duck Knight Returns, then a full-on pilot was created, Let's Get Dangerous, and met with positive reviews!
Lemme just say every interaction I've had with a Gilmore Girls fan has gone like this: - Oh you like Gilmore Girls? Important question- Dean, Jess, or Logan? - Logan for Rory, Jess for me, screw Dean
It’s from the Nickelodeon movie “The Last Day Of Summer,” I did a video on it a while back, so seeing Jackeé Harry again in this, I wanted to sneak in a little plug for that video lol
my brain never processed backdoor pilots until waaaaaaay after the fact. also i must make a correction: alyson stoner uses they/them pronouns! i believe it’s okay to refer to characters they’ve played with she/her, but use they/them for the actor themself!
I always wisht back in the day that alyson stoner had her very own show on disney channel back in the day but too bad it never happen i really love her so much i really did not like hahhan montana to be honest i think that show bad that's just my opinion maybe another parallel universe dimension timeline that actually did happen when alyson stoner had her own show
Haha I’m not sure if Harry Potter was the reason for it not getting picked up, I just noticed how the premiere of Harry Potter and when Witchright Hall was supposed to air were so close to each other that I made a joke about it, but is entirely possible since Sabrina was then owned by WB.
I remember as a kid I was so confused about this episode and why it had so much focus on the actress girl and seemingly no one from the main cast
I know, it's very odd! Chelsea doesn't even get a single line in the entire episode besides just cheering when Cory finds out he won the part.
@@AlecComes Yeah, makes u wonder why she and Eddie even had to be there for the opening scene.
And what’s odd is that they replayed this episode A LOT (from what I remember)
At least Alyson Stoner got to go on and do Phineas & Ferb. I couldn’t picture anyone else doing the voice of Isabella.
IK what u mean. I like her on The Legend of Korra, too!
Glad u talked about this, when I was younger I didn't pick up on the fact that it was supposed to be a backdoor pilot as an attempt to give Alyson Stoner a show. i literally remember this episode but had no idea it was a backdoor pilot. wow, it really does have a similar gist to hannah montana
this just feels like a filler episode of Zack And Cody lol

Yup that’s what immediately came to mind when I saw her
tearing your miniscus wasn’t very ginchy of you. 10/10 video

Wow, I didn't realize that this was suppose to be a spin-off. I just thought it was another that's so Raven episode.🤯🤯
Also, they took stuff from this with that character on Suite Life On Deck who was a washed up rapper who came on board to be with other kids his age
I VIVIDLY REMEMBER THIS EPISODE!!!! I was too young to realize how out of place it was but I remember enjoying it hahahah

LOL THE WILL SMITH MEME!
I didn't know until recently that Better Days was an inspiration for HM. Just look at the background and the layout of the school. Felt too familiar re-watching it on Disney+
There was also a rip off of Crazy In Love on Thats So Raven
I remembered Cory struggling with the word Delivery, but remembered nothing else about this episode lmao. Jackée Harry is so entertaining!

Great video! Your vision was right... I watched the whole thing and loved it
This was the very first That's So Raven episode I ever watched. I was so confused.

This ep stunk. I wondered why we didn’t see the rest of the cast, makes sense now that this was a backdoor pilot.
every time i hear ginchy i think he's saying genshi like from overwatch
Oh wow that brought back memories I completely forgot about that episode. 🤣
Love your video and can you cover a various of crossovers such as That’s So Suite Life, Wizards On Deck, iParty With Victorious?
I have a video idea for those type of crossovers that hopefully I can get to eventually, so stick around for that! I appreciate the suggestion!
So glad I found this video! Super ginchy lmao! Young me was always so confused about this episode
The spinoff actually lasted longer than the actual show
Did that's so Raven predict your college injury...?
Oh my god… it might’ve…

I thought it was going to be about Cory in the House.
You're so funny- a little disappointed in the lack of attention you get on your channel- I hope you start getting bigger numbers soon 💖💖💖
How do you have these clips of the episodes to edit?
