Even as a 12-year-old I questioned that whole SATS montage scene where they go to all the landmark spots of LA... even though Christopher is supposedly trying not to be seen with her...? There's even a shot where he has his hat and sunglasses off posing in front of a billboard of himself! It's hard to be less discrete than that.
As someone who lives in So Cal that is kinda realistic especially around certain spots of LA. We see celebs all the time. Now I can see tourist goin ham tho and La is full of tourist so they should’ve had some ppl dressed as tourist fan girl haha

for some reason I have a DISTINCT memory of the premiere night. I was watching Disney like usual, and the countdown was in the corner. my parents took me to the hospital cause my baby cousin was just born. hung out there for a while, played some Rugrats jungle game on my GBA. on the way home we got the “new and improved” burger king fries, and got home to catch some of the end of the movie. so weird that I never watched this movie but have such a vivid memory of that night related to it.
What I hate about the writing of Chris and Jessica is that she was supposed to ground him because he was a star but he never acted like a diva. Matter of fact, he always was rather nice to her so her attitude made no sense. They should have wrote him as a pretentious prick instead and shouldn’t have made her so hostile to him immediately.

I used to rewatch Starstruck around valentines day every year since it came out (and then stopped in like 2019 or 2020), and each year I realized more and more how awful the writing and some of the acting is in the movie. Definitely makes it less fun to watch, but a lot of the songs are bangers and makes up for poor plot lmao. Also, you should definitely make a video on the Nickelodeon movie Rags!
I’m honestly flabbergasted how that “Am I being Punk’d?” vignette didn’t include High School Musical…which I guess really bodes worse for Starstruck’s originality
The way Sterling only sang StarStruck!! I feel bad because I've seen him cover the songs, and he sounds a lot like Drew Ryan Scott; which is very impressive in all honesty to me. I do think it sucks that Disney casted him so late and wasted so much time that he could not record the songs the way they should've been.
Starstruck... Exists. And that's kind of the best way to put it for me. Even as a 13 year old I knew this was not a very good movie. There was some good music, but overall it's a pretty meh experience. I also remember being pretty confused about the plot as well the first time I watched it as a kid. Also remembering just how hard Disney pushed this movie as well. Felt like you couldn't go a single commercial break without them blasting "Starstruck" for awhile there.
I loved this movie as a kid but only cus I had a thing for Sterling Knight and I thought the songs were bops. I also always loved the really chaotic movies that made no sense lmao 😂

The only reason I remember this movie existing is because there's a children's theatre company in my area called Starstruck and growing up after this movie came out whenever I looked up the theatre company website for auditions and such I got results for this movie instead.
this movie holds a special place in my heart. I watched it so often as a child, it was definitely one of my favorite Disney movies. and all the songs are so catchy that they're stuck in your head the following weeks. like all movies I watched and loved as a child, it turned out to be quite cringe looking at it from an adult pov. but now it's just a guilty pleasure to watch and sing along to
Damn, this reminded me the movie came out 13 years ago.😭Which means Sterling's like 33 now and the lead actress is like 27. You know how you see certain actors/actresses in movies/tv shows during your childhood and then years go by when you suddenly remember that movie or tv show and wonder what the actors are doing now and how they changed, then realize how much time has passed....yeah that was me after this video.
You consistently are uploading quality analysis on nostalgic content and your video style and vibes while remembering these core memory’s to you is very interesting. I don’t really remember watching the shows/movies you talk about like so random and starstruck but your videos still make them good also having very nice editing. Keep making good things
the thing about starstruck is that they write jessica like she’s the protagonist of a wattpad self insert and it’s like. unfair to both her and to girls watching that she’s not allowed to be a character past that. the chelsea staub plotline is weird too because like i get the point is nothing in christopers life is real but he’s still a person and she’s this caricature? in fact the only woman who has a fully developed honest character is the grandmother. also they keep claiming parts of la that are very clearly other parts of la are like. hollywood. a lake. infuriating.
8:59 nah Christopher think he slick, he was tryna flex on Jessica😅talking about some “pick a car”, as if she pose to be impressed. Then wanted to look like some gentleman opening the door for her, so she made sure she chose another one
I used to be obsessed with this movie back in the day. At the same time, I was so surprised at how nobody cared where Jessica was at any point in the movie. It kind of normalized that kind of parenting for me because I just thought my parents were so uncool because they didn't let me do things that Jessica's parents let her do lol I kept putting myself in Jessica's shoes thinking I would be so anxious if I was in that situation because my parents would question the crap out of me Coming from an immigrant family, I thought that's just how American parents were
i always just assumed i never watched starstruck whenever it was mentioned, because i have no recollection of this movie at all. after seeing this video i realized the only part i vaguely remember about it is the garage scene. i grew up on the disney channel and just forgot about it honestly
Too this day I still listen to Hero, Something About The Sunshine, and Starstruck. Hero is iconiccc and was/is my fave from all the songs. Also I never realized it till you pointed it out, but this definitely does scream Wattpad fanfic loll

so i was 10 when it came out, and i remember i really did not like it, it made me feel second hand embarrassment. but honestly the next year i was basically writing one direction fanfics that was also enemies to lovers lol. the songs were pretty good but reflecting back i def got the embarrassment because i felt like i was similar to jessica and i didnt like the character of christopher so i was like 'noooooo what are you doing'

I wasn’t obsessed or anything. But….I did and do read and write fanfiction so…makes sense that I would like it XD. It definitely has the tropes. Although, the fanfiction that I read is usually better written…
this movie is actually my favorite. i used to watch it maybe once a year, but recently i have been watching it so so much. last summer i watched it everyday for like a week straight. i watched at least 5 more times that summer. i absolutely love this movie. i definitely think its not the best and is very cringey and the acting is bad but oh my gosh i can quote this movie word for word and im not even embarrassed. its just so nostalgic and it just makes me happy honestly.

Definitely makes it less fun to watch, but a lot of the songs are bangers and makes up for poor plot lmao.
Also, you should definitely make a video on the Nickelodeon movie Rags!
Omg I forgot about Rags! Another iconic childhood movie.
I’m honestly flabbergasted how that “Am I being Punk’d?” vignette didn’t include High School Musical…which I guess really bodes worse for Starstruck’s originality
I forgot about that one, I think Ryan’s line about Ashton Kutcher took over my memory
@@growingupwithdisney It’s not the exact line (“Maybe we’re being Punk’d!”) but it’s the name drop that matters
that's what i thought of too
me toooo omg
How could you just brush over Petunias death scene like that
The everybody hates Chris fade out LMAO I was not expecting that 😂😂😂😂 i cackled so loud damn that was really clever 😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly I think this movie aged better than camp Rock tbh
i actually love star struck and I always will despite how random it is
This brought back so many memories. Maybe radio rebel next??
I second that!
I loved this movie as a kid but only cus I had a thing for Sterling Knight and I thought the songs were bops. I also always loved the really chaotic movies that made no sense lmao 😂
I unironically listen to this movie’s soundtrack all the time. I think all the the songs are bangers tbh.
Pleaaaase I work at Macy’s and when I saw the “Shades” outfit Sterling was wearing I immediately thought “wow that looks straight off the mannequin in Men’s” 😭😭😭😭
The ad placement on this video is golden, I will watch EVERY AD OK, its the first time in a long time I've had the Disney nostalgia
It’s better when you think of it as “Carstruck”
9:39 Nahh this moment had me wheezing💀💀 the close up on Chris's bewildered face, the "what?!", that got me good I couldnt stop laughing
21:35 LMAOOO NOT THE EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS SOUND💀💀💀
The only reason I remember this movie existing is because there's a children's theatre company in my area called Starstruck and growing up after this movie came out whenever I looked up the theatre company website for auditions and such I got results for this movie instead.
it's a good day when Mr. Nostalgia uploads
It's a good day when Mashar comments

this movie holds a special place in my heart.
Everything about this movie definitely feels like it was pulled straight from AO3 lol
Agreed 😂 a wild movie but a guilty pleasure for me their chemistry was good to me the characters Jessica and Christopher
You consistently are uploading quality analysis on nostalgic content and your video style and vibes while remembering these core memory’s to you is very interesting. I don’t really remember watching the shows/movies you talk about like so random and starstruck but your videos still make them good also having very nice editing. Keep making good things
Thank you
the thing about starstruck is that they write jessica like she’s the protagonist of a wattpad self insert and it’s like. unfair to both her and to girls watching that she’s not allowed to be a character past that. the chelsea staub plotline is weird too because like i get the point is nothing in christopers life is real but he’s still a person and she’s this caricature? in fact the only woman who has a fully developed honest character is the grandmother. also they keep claiming parts of la that are very clearly other parts of la are like. hollywood. a lake. infuriating.
This was 100% a fanfic my wattpad self loved this movie 😂😂🫶🏾
8:59 nah Christopher think he slick, he was tryna flex on Jessica😅talking about some “pick a car”, as if she pose to be impressed. Then wanted to look like some gentleman opening the door for her, so she made sure she chose another one
FRRR men are so stupid
Yess
I used to be obsessed with this movie back in the day. At the same time, I was so surprised at how nobody cared where Jessica was at any point in the movie. It kind of normalized that kind of parenting for me because I just thought my parents were so uncool because they didn't let me do things that Jessica's parents let her do lol
I kept putting myself in Jessica's shoes thinking I would be so anxious if I was in that situation because my parents would question the crap out of me
Coming from an immigrant family, I thought that's just how American parents were
I have vivid memories of this movie, but the songs Starstruck and Something about the Sunshine always pop up in my head
Jessica was my NLOG idol when I was 12, but looking back it is truly baffling how much of a brat she was.
i always just assumed i never watched starstruck whenever it was mentioned, because i have no recollection of this movie at all. after seeing this video i realized the only part i vaguely remember about it is the garage scene. i grew up on the disney channel and just forgot about it honestly
Hero is quite literally in my top 3 favorite dcom songs cant believe it wasnt mentioned even once
Sterling Knight and the songs make this movie so good for the nostalgia factor
21:30 exactly the way tasha would act in everybody's hates chris lmao
When you said “Chelsea Kane” I was like who? But then I saw “Chelsea Staub” and was like “oh yeah, her, she’s been in so much stuff” LOL
Her name flip-flops to Kane to Staub every time when I see the opening credits on Fish Hooks
The two songs I always remember from this movie are Something About the Sunshine (of course) and Hero.
I haven't seen this movie in YEARS, but I grew up listening to the soundtrack a lot. Thank you for the refresher on what happens.
You ain’t right for that everybody hates Chris joke lol
Too this day I still listen to Hero, Something About The Sunshine, and Starstruck. Hero is iconiccc and was/is my fave from all the songs. Also I never realized it till you pointed it out, but this definitely does scream Wattpad fanfic loll
That Macy’s biggest one day sale joke got me to subscribe so quick 😭😭🤣
@@Dennubian thank you lol I love that joke too
I will never pay attention to what actually happened behind the scenes, but this is my favorite Disney movie to exist. I will never change my mind
Calling this a fan fiction written by a 13 year old girl turned into a movie is so accurate I cannot 😂😂😂
God I loved starstruck!!! Still have some of the songs in my playlist 🗣️🗣️
1:32 Kalamazoo is pronounced like one word. Smooth. “Ka-la-ma-zoo” Michigander here and hearing you say it like that killed me. No hard syllables in the name. All soft.
I remember watching Starstruck but don't remember anything in that movie.
Me too 😂
8:54 I love how shitty his garage is. The only car that's actually of note there is the Thunderbird (the red one) lol
the only thing i remembered about this movie was the pink car sinking in the quick sand
i haven't properly heard something about the sunshine since the movie came out probably but i have never forgotten it
Star struck is the first Disney movie I’ve ever watched along with race to which mountain
Sarah then moves to New Orleans, meets a vampire named Marcellous, and becomes a witch named Davina set out to destroy Klaus once and for all.
i cant with the screen grab trying to act like a picture i even remember it from childhood being like naw fr yall
My man playing the Big Time Rush "Till I forget about you" instrumental type beat fr
so i was 10 when it came out, and i remember i really did not like it, it made me feel second hand embarrassment. but honestly the next year i was basically writing one direction fanfics that was also enemies to lovers lol. the songs were pretty good but reflecting back i def got the embarrassment because i felt like i was similar to jessica and i didnt like the character of christopher so i was like 'noooooo what are you doing'
This movie is like one of my guilty pleasures it's so bad but I love it. I'll never get over the Grandma not questioning what happened to her car.
Unpopular Opinion: Shades was actually a fire song 😂
Love the video Mr. Nostalgia. Upset I wasn’t around in the past, but I’ll be here now. Can’t wait for the next video ❤
Disney did another one where the alter go of some girl for the school newspaper started becoming popular.
You gotta do Wizards of Waverly Place, that show bangs.
Keyan Carlisle got like 7 hours worth of Waverly Place content on his channel 😅. Check it out
Keep up the good work Mr. Nostalgia. Two recommendations I suggest is Let It Shine or Lemonade Mouth because I want to see your opinion on them (good or bad)
I remember this movie actually pretty well, I definitely think I watched it multiple times. And I remembered a lot of the songs once I heard them. I liked it, I thought it was cute. I wasn’t obsessed or anything. But….I did and do read and write fanfiction so…makes sense that I would like it XD. It definitely has the tropes. Although, the fanfiction that I read is usually better written…
Starstruck will forever be one of my favorites & the soundtrack has no misses too
a lot of my friends STILL love and talk about this movie and are now in their early twenties lol. you dragging it for filth is cracking me upppp
ngl, this movie still bangs.
also, i'm new to the channel and NEED the selena/drew cinderella dive!!
this movie is actually my favorite. i used to watch it maybe once a year, but recently i have been watching it so so much. last summer i watched it everyday for like a week straight. i watched at least 5 more times that summer. i absolutely love this movie. i definitely think its not the best and is very cringey and the acting is bad but oh my gosh i can quote this movie word for word and im not even embarrassed. its just so nostalgic and it just makes me happy honestly.
literally this was my movie idc
I know it was a weird for the time but the songs and the vibe hit
