Yonghegong Lama Temple 🇨🇳 , See the royal temple transformed from Emperor Yongzheng’s home(4K UHD)

Yonghegong Lama Temple, the biggest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Beijing, was built in 1694 as the residence of Prince Yong of the Qing Dynasty. After the prince came to the throne as Emperor Yongzheng, he promoted his old residence into a temporary dwellingpalacesYonghegong79ceilede(meaning palace of harmony and peace ) in 1725. In 1744successor Emperor Qianlong changed the palace into a lama temple.
The main buildings of the temple are built along a central axis, including Yonghe Gate Hall, Yonghegong Hall, Yongyou Hall, FalunHall, Wanfuge Pavilion, and Suicheng Hall. The side buildings flanking them are the Building, Panchen Building, West Side Hall, East Side Hall, Shilun Hall, Medicine Hall, Exoteric Hall, and Esoteric Hall. Before the halls, there are three memorial archways. Splendid and magnificent, the constructional layout of the temple embodies the characteristics of Mancha, Han, Tibetan, and Mongolian cultures.
In each hall, many Buddha statues are enshrined; Tangka ( scrolled painting )andprecious cultural relics are displayed. The three well-known wooden sculptures are the niche of Buddha. carved out of phoebe nanmu wood with three layers; the five-hundred-arhat mountain, carved out of red sandalwood; and an 18-meter high Buddha, carved out of one grand piece of white sandalwood. Since the founding of the PRC, the government has attached great importance to this ancient temple and allocated a large sum of money to renovate it. State leaders came to inspect it many times. In 1961, it was listed as a major historic site under state protection. The TheYonghegong Lama Temple survived in the turbulent years of the Cultural Revolution fromto1976.thanks to Premier Zhou Enlai. The ancient temple was reopened.
