No. Not at all. Many historical sites were destroyed during Cultural Revolution. They were destroyed intentionally under Mao's instructions. In the 80s, many of them were reconstructed, but because China wasn't wealthy back then, some were reconstructed poorly. The Forbidden Palace and these royal buildings were preserved because Mao liked them. There is no doubt the Indians respect their traditional culture more than the Chinese back in the 60s, when Cultural Revolution happened.

Spanish Inquisition destroyed countless of ancient antiques... let alone the crusades that destroyed the churches in Byzantine empire. But since there are so many in China, many still survived. ....you go to the place where you believe is the nexus to the divine your believe in.... without have a go-between, or a procession of them, you seek blessing, ask for deliverance, beg for forgiveness, calm your inner-self.... then you thank for what was given and depart. And along the way you enjoy the surrounding!!!!!
