This is a fantastic explanation. Really incorporating this into my game lately. That pop of the arms framing on the head will solve a lot of issues for me. Nice one 🙏🏻
Hey Jason, You could pass on the same as the butterfly hook if you can’t get the second hook back in between your knees. You could also sit into a top half guard and look to pass from there. Another option would be to set up the over under pass from there.
A few things you can do to answer this as grappling is all questions and answers, but let’s say your opponent passes the legs as per video. As top guy releases body lock with left hand and goes for head control, as you face towards the top guy use your hands to block his left arm NOT HIS LEFT HIP/LEG! Using your top arm, grab his left wrist thumb down and keep it away from you and using your bottom arm to post to forearm then hand Your opponent now only has your hip with one arm, start retracting your right leg like you would in a technical get up and insert you left high shinbone into top guys right hip to stop back take and manage distance. From here you can stand up to feet, or transfer left leg back to guard of choice. It’s a nice pass and funny to see these body lock passes come back round and become fashionable again , I learnt this years ago whilst on holiday 😂
Hey Kieran, how do you pass their legs in the beginnin, when you smash their bitterly? I'm having the most trouble with getting my first leg over, usually they just keep a sticky hook. Let's say I smash butterfly, grab underhooks, and now I have to extend my right leg back to connect with my left. When I extend it back, people just keep sticky hooks and that's it... no clue why this happens and I don't see anyone else doing it.
Hey Vlad, Hope you’re keeping well. I just uploaded a new body lock video this evening. Hope this helps you out with some of these problems. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for the support.
Hey Kieran, if you're reaching deep behind them for the tight waist with your right arm, are you worried about their left leg climbing out of the butterfly hook? It looks like your elbow wouldn't be trapping their leg anymore. Thanks in advance.
If I’m passing to my left then I make sure I keep my forehead connect to their far shoulder (which would be the left shoulder) keeping them as flat as possible. I usually keep a shallow underhook until I establish side control. If they manage to hook my hip then I change my body position and clear the hook with my elbow which usually creates an opportunity to pass. I’ll do another video on the body lock pass dealing/preventing a few of these problems. Hopefully I’ll be able to answer your question with it.
@@KDGrappling Pinning them flat with the head makes a lot of sense. Thanks brother, looking forward to that next video addressing the common issues! Great content.

Love this pass, the key I think is moving the knee line over and then sprawl, I wasn’t doing it, and now I’m passing higher belts.
Great to hear Mark. It’s a solid way of passing

I've been studying this pass. I'm having trouble loosing the first butterfly hook. They follow my sprawling leg.

Keep them flat then you can switch your hips off the 1st bf hook. If you let them turn towards your passing Side then they can follow.

Thank you Vince 👊
