It's The Yukon, officially! The Yukon government made it official in 2021. Great video. I love it when people learn how incredible The Yukon is but I wish it would remain Canada's best kept secret. One of the most magical things about living in The Yukon is that we can experience all the beauty without running in to crowds. :)
I spent a few months in Yukon. Your video is very accurate. And indeed, whatever one' s goal, seeing Yukon is one of the most beautiful and unforgettable experience in life.
3 bedroom cost almost $2800 now in the new area. Stunning place, very rugged and majestic. It’s a humbling experience to see the power of nature. Whitehorse is very diverse with many ethnicities.
Went to the Yukon just a few weeks ago. Only stayed long enough to eat, but that allowed me to cross it off the list. Newfoundland will finish off the Provinces for me. Still need the other 2 territories. Going to Hawaii next summer to get my last State.
I've been living in Yellowknife for about nine years. I've traveled and worked all over NT, NU and YK. I'm just finishing college this year, and hoping to relocate to the Yukon. It's hands-down absolutely amazing. Spent three weeks in Haines Junction this summer when we evacuated due to wildfires. Left a piece of myself there, it feels like. Housing market in Whitehorse is better then Yellowknife.
@@serkanister3620 I'm also interested in moving to Yukon or Northern Ontario. Both seem like an escape for me from unaffordable crazy housing expenses, but I'm still not sure which is the better choice... Or maybe it just depends on where can I get a job from lol.
It’s “The Yukon”. Born and raised here. They tried to change it legally through the local government, but there was a lot of local distaste for it just being “Yukon” with out “The”. It was legally changed back a couple of years ago to “The Yukon” but there are still people who think it should have stayed as is. Historically though, it has been “The Yukon” for much longer. It had a brief period minus “The” but if you just look at time it was legally one name versus the other. Anyways, it is “The Yukon”
I remember not learning much about the Territories in elementary school. For the longest time, I thought that Great Slave and Great Bear Lakes were in northern Alberta. Since the fires that prompted the evacuation of Yellowknife, I became interested in Canada's territories and have a trip to NWT next July. I am also planning a similar trip to the Yukon.
You aren't wrong about our education system teaching us little about the Territories. I always imagined Yellowknife to be this desolate remote outpost in inhospitable terrain with a lack of roads. I was surprised to learn that not only is it a city, but that it's located on Great Slave Lake. As a kid I thought Great Slave and Great Bear lakes were in northern Alberta and Saskatchewan. Anyway, I'm visiting Yellowknife in 4 weeks and plan do visit Yukon next year.
Looks like you have to fly from Vancouver, which means changes: multiple flights. Whitehorse is about as far north as the Shetland Islands! Wow, that is north!
Highly recommend having a firearm and a firearms licence before going to such a remote area. Not only is it a huge part of the culture but it is also necessary for predator defense
my goal is to buy land in the Yukon and move up from BC. British Columbia is becoming way too populated. They keep bringing in more people and there hasn't been any development outside the Vancouver area.
Lots a development taking place in surrey bc right now. As time goes by the areas surrounding Vancouver city will be more developed. The government has plans that are currently underway
Legally it's called The Yukon Territory i but some government goon waisted money and time and taxes to change it to just Yukon. So I just call it jome😊
I think the answer to the Yukon question is that if you are referring to WHICH territory, you would say The Yukon as opposed to The Northwest territory. However if you are just referring to it NOT differentiating from the other two, you would just call it Yukon.
Just because there are a number of lakes that commercial fishing may occur - doesn’t mean it’s the third largest industry in the territory 😆 Sincerely a person who lives in THE Yukon.
While commerical fishing is a relatively small contributor to the Yukon economy, recreational fishing contributes rougly $23 million to the tourism industry. This comes from the government of the Yukon.
Not as bad as when I lived in Ontario, but they are bad enough! However, this season is very short with maybe two months of mosquito bites in a year, and another one of black lies.
This place used to be cool real yukoner say hi to u on the street yukoner there is no yukon anymore it's changed so much that it reminds me of the south
Is, but in a pretty small level. Trees grow very slowly up here, and they have lots of knots. Firewood is a big deal though, and guys where I live are getting around $600 a cord right now, more if it is bucked.
Sell your vehicle before you move here if it's an oddball. There are no BMW, Audi, Volvo, VW, (and more) dealerships. The closest ones are probably at least a 15 hour drive away.
Canada : 10 provinces et 3 territoires. En 2022, le territoire du Yukon du Canada dépasse la province de la Saskatchewan à devenir l’entité n ° 3 pour la criminalité au Canada. My home, my life, however! Canada's Yukon territory in 2022 by-pass the province of Saskatchewan becoming the #3 entity for crime in Canada. The is not so edible inside.
I am a jail guard in Dawson City, on the average about one day a week, 98% of the time babysitting a drunk. I think I've got an actual criminal maybe 4 times in the last six years. I think most of the crime must be down in Whitehorse.
@@ellenoppold737 I was actually browsing the real estate market in Whitehorse last week and you’re not kidding. It is crazy how much places are going for. Whether you’re trying to rent or buy, it’s not easy up there.
When I moved to the Dawson City area, there were exactly three houses for sale, one in town, and 2 out of town, one of which I bought. it is not the price of housing out here that is scary, it is the lack of it!

Wow, that is north!
We just came back from Ontario. One flight to Vancouver. One flight from Van to Whitehorse. It’s the delay in Vancouver that is the killer.
Very good!
Please make video about Nunavut and NW territories Thanks! I like your channel 😇
I could see visiting Yukon, not living there. July is likely good. Grilled whitefish and arctic char must be good.
most people in the yukon prefer saying the yukon , but legally it’s just yukon
