Here are my problems: - As an owner of a foldable phone, I don't like to have the screen out and about because I see things for what they are: it's a thin, plastic film that is easy to damage just by running your fingernail across it. If ANYTHING falls anywhere on that massive screen, it's gone, and the way they're incorporated into the chassis makes them impossible to replace. - It's a HP. Their approach to milking as much money out of you as possible with printers, and the infamous build quality of most of their laptops, just makes me want to steer clear of this thing. - I can somewhat understand the cost, but it will only make it affordable to people who want it for its impressiveness, and not because they will actually make use of its capabilities. It's an expensive fashion statement, like a gold Rolex.
Their laptops are their only saving grace as a company. While as an IT professional I'm required to support the ubiquitous HP printers, I personally would never buy an HP printer, their laptops are quite a different thing entirely. HP laptops are quite repairable in the enterprise sector and plenty of parts are available for reasonable prices. Even their consumer laptops far outshine Apple and Samsung in repairability. Most parts can be found online from numerous places such as eBay and Amazon and merely a few screws away(depending on the model will determine if they are all matching or different sizes). Their consumer printer ink gouging and anti-consumer practices are abhorrent for sure but there is no denying their reliability in the business sector.
@@kingzach74 Problem with making it quite repairable is that you get laptops that do not have a prolonged life span. Look at the standard warranty length and it'll give you a good idea when a bulging battery is likely to manifest.
Wait, Linus is only 6 years older than me? He’s married with kids and a house, while I just recently moved out of my parents house 😢
Yeah, and Ryan the toy review kid is a millionaire and he's only 12.
everyones life works different... Linus been on the game for SEVERAL years.
A lot can happen in 6 yrs you never know
I am convinced that HP would be 100x better without HP firmware
Imax enhanched? They'll throw anything against the wall these days.
wtf is imax enhanced lmfao
Makes me miss Dell’s XPS 18 that only saw two generations (only a CPU bump). Basically an oversized tablet with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, it was meant to be a mobile productivity device, with near desktop size display, and could be used in that fashion with the metal stand with built-in pogo pins to power the XPS 18 and plot on and off the stand. They missed the mark by not releasing a stylus with it and marketing this to graphic designers.
Bro changed the title lol
4:52 no way there's a disclaimer for this 💀
7:11 "Know difference between hard R" hahahahahaha
I don't hear him say this anywhere in the video
@@NCXitlali it’s from the wan show their podcast when Linus was talking about how he used the hard r in the past and heard it and shows even in the early 2000s like American dad, but he was talking about the word ret_ard so for mental disabilities not N-word and he didn’t even think that the hard R word meant the N-word so he basically almost destroyed the company until Luke pointed it out and chat too
@@justacollegestudent5147 oh right. He's Canadian. 🤣 Americans always want an excuse to be offended.
@@NCXitlaliIt was typed on the laptop screen. Hard to understand the context, but others filled it in.
That price tag reveal made me choke on my food brother wth
I wonder how fast the hinge will break, hp never learns
What stopping HP from making a 43 inch Laptop?
when did they start doing that?
I have an 8year+ Hp elitebook with really solid hinges and metallic body.
@@nahoj.2569 not sure, but I repair a lot of laptop, and like 70 percent of hinge related issues that come in are HP, the place where the screw screws into through the hinge breaks off so hinge doesn’t move anymore so it breaks apart the frame
I've bought expensive computers before, but when Linus says it's expensive, you KNOW it's expensive.
You said the price was high, and I clearly didn't believe you. You said it was HP's most expensive laptop, and I clearly didn't believe you.
Then you said the actual price, and I let out an audible "oof!". Five grand is absolutely absurd.
Bajoran earring! Perfect analogy :D
a bajoran earring. that is a wild reference.
Just appreciating the bajoran earring callout.
this makes more sense than a folding phone in my opinion
'I choose you'
'Sitting in a tree'
'Love isn't blind afterall'
'Are you that someone special?'
I swear these chapter names feel like I'm watching Linus Love Tips 😂
Bajoran Earring, you got at least one Trekkie writer!
I know that David is a trekkie (he has a star trek tattoo behind his left ear) but this was written by Jordan.
Biggest problem with this thing is that it runs Windows. Expecting windows to work at all with something this niche is delusional. Also it was funny that you expected windows Bluetooth to work as well. The specs are also extremely underwhelming for the price tag, but if it fits your use case you might tolerate all that
great device if it wasn't made by hp
and lower priced
im so looking forward to part 2
$5K with only 16 gigs of RAM⁉️ 🤯
Agreed. Even Macs aren't that bad. I would have liked at least 24, or ideally, 32-64 GB for a PC at that price.
What immediately stands out to me is the insane reflectivity of the screen
HP Software is a BIG RED FLAG...
0:45 Almost a Linus Drop Tip moment
Just a hint because the Resolution thing, if it was just on Rocket League. On my Pc's (3 Diffrent Normal Desktops) it never started on the right Resolution on first try.
linus showing this off like its gang money 😂
7:14 linus is never living down the hard r
0:32 "for gamers by gamers" lol
I would love to own a laptop like this, but probably never will because 5000$ is a big ask.
This looks like something that will end up breaking sooner rather than later.
I remember hearing Linus talk about this on the WAN show... Three or so months ago.
They should make a small groove behind the kick stand where you can mount the pen. Then when the kick stand is closed it securely stores the pen in there.
"that every other npc in the meeting..." not you too linus.. 7:33
I honestly cant wait for folding portible monitors. combining a steam deck/ally or even an iPad mini with a portable monitor and keyboard and mousee/trackpad is amazing and having such a large monitor fit in your bag would be a massive improvement on that
4:05 that's now how a bajoran earring works. It's attached to the top of the ear, and the other side to the bottom.
11:12 - I am still using my Samsung Galaxy X Flip3 as my daily driver phone - still no issues apart from needing to replace the screen protector every 18 months! I now use a MATTE screen protector, so much better than a regular looking screen. But the fold ability into my pocket is my main game changer, always was! Including it minor flaw of a crease that you get used to in a DAY.......the positives FAR outweigh the negatives! It can be a minimalist phone and still be a regular glass brick phone. The smaller real estate in your pocket is the best!! Plus using its outside screen along with the fingerprint scanner without opening the phone (to access bluetooth access etc for Spotify and such) in your car or whatnot is a neat thing! I look forward to Hewlett Packard sending me a review unit of this laptop of my dreams......I am verified on YT and Spotify not paid!!! lol
that ol tonky laptop took me back to seeing my first laptop. it wasn't quite so old. but my uncle brought it home from work and id sit watching him work cause how amazed i was with it. i love my PC but laptops have a special place in my heart.
