Bought a new construction home with my first ever irrigation system. All Hunter products. A sincere thank you for all your videos and website. A wealth of easy to understand information.
Excellent! Especially the part about twisting the riser to change direction of spray. I've done this for years, but always thinking that I am probably doing damage to the riser, its cylinder, or something else. But, guilt aside, it always worked for me. Now I learn that from a mechanical standpoint, it is actually OK to do this. I got a clue this morning that the procedure might not harm anything when I shined a flashlight down an empty cylinder and saw the thin plastic "fins" at the bottom of the cylinder. It seemed as though twisting the riser inside the cylinder to adjust spray direction would not likely harm the mechanics of the thing. And those fins together with the "teeth" on the bottom of the riser (the teeth that engage with the fins) would account for the slight resistance and the clicking noise I hear when twisting the riser. But of course I was not sure that my procedure was mechanically OK - until I watched your video. Thank you! And please feel free to take the rest of the day off.
You are a freakin' GOD and THANK YOU! I have searched & searched your website & the internet trying to figure out why after installing my sprinkler and getting the arc set, it would then spray in the wrong direction... Didn't know there was a correct way for it to face and turning the riser was possible or an option! Thank you again!
Dirty filters was constricting water flow through my sprinkler heads. With the help of this video I was able to correct this problem. Thank you for your helpful recommendations.
Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. Because we do not make those products or test with them we can not validate that it will work with our products. Thank you again for contacting Hunter Technical Support. Please let us know if we can offer any other assistance.
I have one of those in my plants bed. Which had no plants at all. Just rocks. I’d like to disable or discontinue the use of that specific head. Is it possible to just close off that screw completely? So that the water does not come out anymore? Or will that cause pressure issues?? What is the best course of action to discontinue that water sprinkler head. I’d like the easiest method if possible.
Good question about shutoff for a sprinkler. To completely shutoff a sprinkler with a spray nozzle its best to purchase a shutoff nozzle (916400SP) or a shutoff cap (213600SP) to completely shutoff the irrigation from that sprinkler. You can tighten the set screw in the middle of the nozzle to reduce the flow but you may have some water still leaking out once you have tightened it down as far as it can go. If you choose to tighten the set screw you must have a filter in order for it to work. Use this link to purchase a nozzle, cap, or other Hunter parts. www.hunterindustries.com/distributors-in-north-america
I know this is an old post but! When you made adjustment for the direction by turning the riser, did it stay after shutting off then on again? I have several of these in my yard and hate all of them. Every time I turn the riser to the position I want, then turn them off and back on, the spray direction is completely off! How do you stop it from changing?
I am looking for advise how to fix the problem with nozzles of X-Core Hunter system, the wont's raise above the ground in one zone only. All nozzles in other zones work perfectly. I checked and found no issues with water supply, power supply, solenoid valve (shows 24 ohms), nozzles obstruction, wiring, electrical connections etc. I noticed that when I fully open the bleed located at the solenoid valve for that zone the nozzles raise up without any problem. What can be the problem? Is there a video addressing this issue?
Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. The Phillips screw above the nozzle is in place to hold the nozzle adjustment top in place. All adjustments for these nozzles are made from the top. www.hunterindustries.com/support/sprays-adjusting-radius-spray-nozzles Thank you again for contacting Hunter Technical Support. Does the riser adjustment system have a 360 spin? Is there a point that it will stop ratcheting and unscrew the base instead? Can the riser adjustment system go both clockwise and counter-clockwise?
Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. On the PGP-Ultra and I-20 rotors, they will ratchet 360 degrees when the arc is set for 360 degrees. Otherwise, the ratchet will stop at the "Right Stop" fixed point, but will not unscrew the base. The riser adjustment system is designed to go back and forth to verify the limits for which you have set the Right Stop, and the Left Arc degree. @@Hunter_Landscape_Irrigation I couldn't adjust the distance of the spray. Every time I screwed down clockwise to shorten the distance, the neck turned with it. The screw is on tight. Do you know if I have to replace the entire thing or can I just replace the spray head? Can you link me to your video on how to do this? Thanks.
@@Hunter_Landscape_Irrigation I just returned from Home Depot and bought a new body and spray head. The one I bought sprays a radius of 15 feet, but when I try and screw down to shorten the distance, the screw won't budge; same as the previous one I had on there. Also, I checked to see if there's a filter. I did unscrew the top cap and there is a filter inside. The screw still won't budge. I don't get it. Is there a spary head that sprays 6 feet only.
@@Hunter_Landscape_Irrigation I'm going back to Home Depot to see if I can buy a spray head that sprays a radius of 6 feet. I held the body by its side as you instructed and I can't get that darn screw to adjust. When I do try to screw/unscrew, the entire neck/body turns with it. The screw won't budge.
You know, a Quick Grip clamp works great for holding up the stem while you use both hands to remove the head to clean/replace the filter and such. Use that trick all the time.
I have a zone with 7 - MP 3000 sprinklers. I've suddenly got 3 that pop up but will not rotate. Filters are clean and the other 4 work fine. What should I do now? If this is a flow problem and before I try to reduce the size on all sprinklers, would removing the filters help increase the flow? And if I turn off 2 or 3 sprinklers, I should probably turn off those that are operating normal and see whether it makes a difference in those that don't? Is there an internal mechanism that sometimes fails to rotate the sprinkler? Do parts wear out?

Where do I get replacement filter? I think previous person removed the filter because screwing the top screw doesn’t adjust radius aka reduce distance. Someone told me if the screw doesn’t change anything it is because the filter is missing
What is the name of that sprinkler head @1:08 to 2:12? It looks like a popup sprinkler for shrubs. He never says the name or type or part number. I need that sprinkler head but don't know the name.
Hello, The sprinkler head that is at 1:08 to 2:12 of the video is the Hunter Pro-Spray. The Pro-Spray body comes in different pop up heights (Shrub, 2", 3", 4", 6", 12"). www.hunterindustries.com/irrigation-product/spray-bodies/pro-sprayr Hunter makes our products, pricing, and replacement parts available through our network of authorized distributors.
I have a zone with 7 of these fixtures, but I need to disable 3 of them until plantings are installed. Is there a way to stop water flow out of certain nozzles in a zone?
My sprinkler turret seems to keep turning no stop at all... either way I turn it (left or right) just keeps turning in full circles either direction.... did I accidentally pop something with the adjust tool?
Please remove the nozzle, the top section that determines the flow and pattern. When turned on, there will be a large volume of water coming from the sprinkler. This will flush out any debris in the sprinkler. Reinstall the nozzle, making sure the adjustment screw is turned counter-clockwise to allow water flow.
I was not able to see any reduction in radius by turning the screw clockwise on top of the nozzle. In fact, I screwed it too far and the screw fell down into the sprinkler body, I was able to flush the screw out and put the nozzle back together, but the spray radius is unchanged by screwing that screw back and forth.
Thanks for your question regarding the sprinklers! The sprinklers in this video are the Pro-Spray sprinklers. They are available in various pop-up heights, but 4” and 6” are the most typically used in turf applications. Please let us know if we can be of help in any way.
I like these rotary type sprinklers. Problem for me is that they only adjust down to 40-degree pattern. It's too bad they can't make one that starts at 0 and adjusts to 360
Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. Yes, unfortunately, the rotors only offer an adjustment arc to less than 40 degrees. So you have an install application where you need the rotor heads to be adjusted to less than 40 degrees? You may want to look at our specialty MP rotators, perhaps our MP Right and Left corner heads.
I have a ton of problems with my Toro 570's either sticking in the down position or the ratchet system will move and I end up watering a wall or the street. Even after adjusting in the correct position the ratchet will move over the next few watering cycles. I have had to replace many of my Toro's even after cleaning them. After 2 years this is when I see the problems I talked about. There are a large number of 570's both in my front and back yard. Each sprinkler is in the proper level position and they were not installed at an angle. I am at the point where I might change to a different brand other than Toro.
I have this same issue now with just one of my sprinklers, it moves around to the left (the arc stays the same). I correct it and it stays during that cycle but the very next cycle it moves again, soaking my patio in the process. Did you find a solution for this? Thanks.
Does anyone have any suggestions to correct Pro Adjustable sprinklers from moving position? The arc stays the same but the actual positioning of the sprinkler is turning about 45 degrees round to the left which means my patio is getting soaked. Even if I readjust it while the cycle is on, the next time they start up it again sprays in the incorrect position again. Thanks in advance.
