So a little back story to this concert: Elvis didn't earn a dime from this concert. You see, the Aloha concert was a benefit concert for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund.
Kui Lee was an American singer and songwriter, descended from Native Hawaiians, Chinese, and Scots. His parents were both musical and were touring China at the time of his birth in 1932. But because of the growing tensions and threat of war, his family came to Hawaii when he was five years old.
Elvis loved one of Kui Lee's songs "I'll Remember You". Elvis first recorded it in 1966 and then included the song on his concert sets between the years of 1972- 1976.
So Kui Lee died the same year Elvis recorded "I'll Remember You" in 1966.
Kui Lee was 34 years old when he died of cancer.
Elvis paid $1,000.00 for his own ticket to the Aloha concert and paid out of his own pocket to have his band members and back- up singers flown out to Honululu for this benefit concert.
Elvis raised $75,000.00 for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund- the equivalent of $457,800 as of 2021.
Also, because the Aloha concert was a television broadcast there was no charge. The audience were allowed in via their own contributions. Some kids saw the show for only ten cents.
This was not new for Elvis though. Elvis had been doing benefit concerts going back to the 1950's.
Nor was this the first benefit concert Elvis gave in Hawaii. He also gave a benefit concert in 1961 to raise money for the U.S.S. Arizona World War Two Memorial. (The WWII Memorial project needed $50,000.00. Elvis's concert proceeds exceeded that amount; he raised $62,000.00 and donated all of it to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.)
That concert however was not filmed. Audio is available as well as photos of that concert. But unfortunately no film footage exists (that I know of anyway).
Just FYI: IF you are interested, Ray, there is a 58 minute long documentary here on YT called "Elvis And The U.S.S. Arizona". It was done by PBS a year or two back. It's all about the U.S.S. Arizona and the Elvis connection to the WWWII Memorial. It has interviews from people who were there at that concert to people who were involved in the project to people who met Elvis while he was there.
It is really well done. I highly recommend. But I do understand you are busy and your time is valuable. So I just thought I'd let you know in case you're interested.

@@candiehamilton9943 You're so sweet 💖 Stories of Elvis's kindness and generosity/ charity are some of my favorite stories. In 1961 Elvis actually gave two benefit concerts. In February 1961, Elvis gave both an afternoon and evening benefit concert in Memphis that raised money for 26 different charities- 25 of which were in and around Memphis and 1 that was in Tupelo, MS.
So yes, Elvis was a very caring person 💛

I just wanted to mention that, as this concert was in aid of the Kui Lee Cancer Fund, they also filmed the rehearsal in front of a live audience so they could raise as much money as possible.
