  • Awa Odori (awa dance) is Traditional Japanese Street Dance.
I need to express my excitement !
    Performance by TAKARABUNE.
    今年、初めて阿波踊りの宝船(創作舞踊集団 寶船)を知りました。
    周りにも知ってる人はいなかったけど、
    知ってしまったばっかりに、阿波おどりと寶船の感動を伝えたい想いで動画をUPします。

definitely one of the most dynamically (radically even?) freeform renditions of the awa-odori i've seen; while i can understand some might think their(this troupe's) movements lack of coordinated precision make it feel inferior, i prefer to think it's a unique style -- certainly the high energy and almost wild vibrance lends something different while also retaining the "why not dance?!" philosophy behind the awa-odori. they(Takarabune)'re great to watch in just this video; they must be totally _amazing_ to see dancing Live.. i'm abit jealous, ithink. haha! very nice video; thank you for sharing!

That message they bring at the intro really hit a lot. With nowadays crisis, the war, the famine, the energy crisis, the recession, etc., their message really bring that hope of survival. "Let's survive together so we could see their performance again next year." 🥲

It is called Awa Odori, originally from Tokushima. You can read up on it if you search it English as well.

    優雅とか上品とかというよりかは、パフォーマンスを重視している感じかな...?
    下品と感じる方もいるかもしれないけど、こういうのも個性でいいと思う。

    This is moderno odori.
The pace is frenzied and fast.
Good for the young, but not good for everyone.
