I lived in Austin at the time of Blaze making the "tape". Worked the day job with musicians on the tape, jammed with them, remember the look on their faces (John Casner, TDMHMR) when he died. I still have the original tape, still remember the words. Incredible songs and heart.
A friend sent me a picture the other day of Ethan at a Alt Country bar in my hometown of Houston, they were playing there that night, & I'm like why the hell is Ethan Hawke in Houston on August 27th , well, I find out from other freinds that the release of this movie on Blaze Foley were doing a showing at the Landmark, West Gray, it's the art district of Houston, I lived off W. gray, my Dad lived there during the 60s when he was a bouncer at Country clubs, I digress, so it was really nice that Ethan hung around to check out the music scene here in Houston, cant wait to see this film, Foley reminds me a lot of John Prine with some Townes thrown in. Thanks to Ethan for keeping this music relevant & memorialized.
It sells the movie to people who have never heard of Blaze. Basically describing him as an unknown song writer that very successful writers really respect. And Hawke is a prick
Blaze foley. non conoscevo quesro cantante, ma dopo aver visto il film al torinofilmfestival, ho cominciato ad apprezzarlo. Ho sempre amato la musica country. non vedo l'ora che esca il film nelle sale italiane.
Willie Nelson if anything inspired Blaze Foley seeing as how Willie started playing music publicly about 20 years before Blaze. Ethan have some respect please. Take it back.
Blaze played a lot in a bar i worked in down on the Drag in Austin. He didn’t play a guitar, he hammered it. A big man, he could have his moments late at night when he was lit. Remember when we all heard Blaze was shot over in east austin, killed. Knew a lot of folkies, sad day for all, life goes on.
Blaze opened many shows for the band I was in, and often called me over the mic to sing harmony on a song or 2. There were MANY Texas songwriters I considered better. Perhaps Blaze was the more ‘cinematic’. RIP.
No, I am not going insane. I have watched several interviews with Ethan Hawke about his Blaze Foley movie and he consistently pronounces "biopic" as "BUY-oh-pick." I always thought it should be "buy-AH-pick" as in "biography." Turns out, his way is the British way. How do you guys pronounce it?
I say it like Hawke does. Bio is a shortened version of biography or biographical and when we shorten it to just bio (not uncommon) the typical pronunciation is "buy-oh" not "buy-ah" or "buy-aw". See American dictionary pronunciation guide: www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bio and www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/biopic
Hawke is the problem with austin today, too many west coasters have moved in a ruined what was a great city. Crime up, homeless up, taxes way up. I have 5 generations buried in that town, i will never move back.
Ethan has never had a good movie or played a good part in a movie besides explorers in the 80s. all his movies suck and I am not the only one who thinks this

Excellent, excellent film - saw it at the London Film Festival with no real knowledge of the subject matter and I'm really glad I did.
Blaze Foley and Willie Nelson are completely different.
i really don't understand why he would throw shade at willie nelson...comes off as such a prick
It sells the movie to people who have never heard of Blaze. Basically describing him as an unknown song writer that very successful writers really respect. And Hawke is a prick
I can't thank you all enough for making this picture!
I hope it’s good. I love Blaze Foley’s music.
Goddamn, they're making a Blaze movie, damn!
I have watched it 19 times it is really a gritty, drunken movie. . .
Blaze was greatly unapreciated in his time. Amazing songwriter.
Why this film hasn’t got a U.K release is beyond me!
The guy Willie Nelson pretended to be!
WOW!!
WEE!
Just watched the trailer. It looks and sounds so beautiful. Blaze music is pure and I want to watch this movie.
Excellent movie. Haunting. You will NEVER forget it. Thank you all who helped to make it. :)

just because willie has been performing and writing longer, does not mean Blaze could not be an inspiration to him.
Everyone did a wonderful acting job in this flick.
I love you Ethaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnn ,
And even if it costs my life
I won't stop loving you
Ethan is the Brando of our time and is supremely under appreciated

When isnthe movie going to be available?
Beautiful Film
LOOK!...the guy was covered by John Prine.
Never thought of Willie Nelson pretending
agreed. that was a bullshit comment..Willie is brilliant and totally unique!
He was only complementing Blaze and trying to set context, not disrespecting Willy.
It's a joke lol
I think he was pointing out that everybody has heard of Willie Nelson , Blaze not so much.
Charlie Sexton? SOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In case anyone want to make thom yorke biopic, call this guy.

Which ones you think were better? asking that not to start a debate but just so I learn about those songwriters. And go check them out.

Hawke says it the correct way. Your way reads like an adjective.
You're wrong.
the guy who played townes give me a break. that's the fakest hollywood crap. def not a biopic
Acting.
Sadly it's terrible , almost nonsense , I was very disappointed. 😢
More Weinstein kooks!

Okay then, bye
You're full of shit and ignorant. That is all.
One just wonders why the targeted hate and dislike.
And that is opinions and preferences aside.
I agree
