He forced corporations and business leaders to keep both wages and prices high, infested heavily into public work programs, created the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, increased farm subsidies enormously and signed the Smoot-Hawley trade bill. The actual issue was that this was all ineffective and did little to help anyone. Especially the trade deal arguably.

I'm Canadian and I think about the 1930s😁 My dad grew up in a community that got eaten by Mississauga later on. His parents were from the north of England, both were workers and both very serious Communists. in that community, pretty much everybody was an immigrant and a Communist. My dad remembers he went to his first eviction demonstration at the age of 6 and they let him carry the flag. Nobody went to jail, i suppose because poor Communists weren't that interesting.
The way you pronounce Regina is really sweet. As a Canadian in the west, I've only ever known it as re-gina where the "gina" bit is pronounced like how it is in the word Vagina. Be it news anchors, politicians, or locals of regina, regina rhymes whith vagina. Like it's clear that it should probably be pronounced the way you said it, cause that's an actual name for which the city got its namesake, but I've never in my life heard it that way. And it's not just a big dunk on Regina that people pronounce it like vagina either, thats actually the correct pronunciation.

During the depression, the first few years of which were during prohibition, a lot of people, especially desperate people, would sell liquor to Americans to be smuggled back across the border. Or smuggle it themselves across the border, to sell on the American side.

There more immigrants living in Canada than Canadians.(5 million Chinese people ) This is a serious problem! I'm not against immigration but they come here and we have to adjust to their way of life instead of them adjusting to our way of life and that's wrong. Actually, if I remember rightly, there was a communist MP from Montreal. Early fifties I think. He got kicked out during the Gouzenko affair.
