Good review, but this is just the plain wireless version of the mouse, not the bluetooth version. The bluetooth version doesn't use a dongle, it connects to the computer directly through the bluetooth.
"...I'll give you a quick demonstration of how smooth the mouse works..." *few seconds later* "...there is no point in demonstrating how well the mouse works..." What? This is hardly a review. It's pretty cool that it turns on that way, but that's not going to convince anyone to get that oddly shaped mouse.
Everyone here is very misinformed, it is not a bluetooth dongle. This is actually a 2.4ghz wireless dongle. Bluetooth is fine, but this is just as good and better since it reduces latency by a significant amount when using the mouse. Bluetooth isn't the only form of 'wireless' connectivity. This 2.4 ghz connectivity is definitely better when accuracy and latency matter like designing, gaming, and drawing.
I have bought a few days this mouse and I find it very uncomfortable: its shape "curve" and "empty" (inside) is very uncomfortable. In fact when I use the mouse does not know where to place the pinky finger (usually the pinky finger rests on the body of the traditional mouse). It is a very important factor that makes uncomfortable the mouse during its use. Do you agree, too? Am I the only one who thinks this?
Straight out of the box, this would be the worst piece of hardware I have ever owned. I have been using this mouse for about 4 months now and I find myself not using a mouse at all due to the frustration I find myself in every time I use this hunk of crap. I will say that it looks awesome but that's where the good stuff finishes. It doesn't fit inside the hand as a normal mouse does. In fact, its really quite the opposite. Its nowhere close to a natural feel in the hand. If you play around with the settings you can get it to a bearable state but far from a pleasurable user-experience. The simulated scroll-wheel is far from a solution to scrolling. For it to function as a scroll wheel, your finger must be perfectly aligned to that scroll panel or else it doesn't work to any acceptable level. As the majority of users use their index finger (which lies slightly off angle to the scroll panel) this will not work. To get the scrolling to work, you need to use your middle finger for scrolling. If you thought holding this mouse was unnatural, try scrolling using your middle finger. If I was to talk about the scrolling, once you get it working, the simulated scrolling sound is incredibly annoying to all people around you. Turn this off folks if you are in a classroom environment. Also, the mouse go nuts when you actually get it to scroll down the page. I found myself constantly using my keyboard to scroll back up after this stupid mouse took me many many pages far below where I was trying to go. Again, you have to get into the settings and calm this son-of-a-bitch down. The only benefit to using this mouse is that it has made me get more savvy on the touch-pad on my Surface Book and, in turn, has eliminated my dependency upon always using a mouse. For anyone planning to buy one of these, my personal recommendation is, "don't do it"... There are others that will most likely do a better job and without the frustration.
Total piece of shit. I've been using this thing for five minutes and already the scroll for the mouse doesn't work. It's not incredibly uncomfortable, but it could be improved. This mouse shouldn't cost anything.
***** 2.4Ghz Wireless. The Surface Edition (pricier) and Bluetooth Edition are the proper Bluetooth mice. Great design and function but a little getting used to the skeleton body rather than a solid body but that's the tradeoff for it's ultra portability
is it really a "Bluetooth" mouse? You're using a USB adapter. Does your computer not have Bluetooth? If it was Bluetooth most devices that are Bluetooth do not come with a USB dongle.
What is that seemingly strong MAGNET going to do to my Hard Drive it it happens to get too close to my laptop when in a laptop case ? Mouse-initiated data corruption anyone ?
Que triste hacer una review de un Arc Touch con un ordenador tan cutre como un MAC jajajajajaja Windows 10 esta a la vuelta de la esquina y la fama de la manzanita algun dia se perderá y el sistema será lo que verdaderamente cuente
+Cristiano Cunha No back/forward. The only "commands"; are page up/down by tapping the edges near the top/bottom of the touch area, and middle-click by double-tapping anywhere on the touch area.
so this is first time that Im watching your video ....! i like it i like it a lot ....! so plz do not stop making best videos ...............................................expecting reply
I actually caught this mouse on sale, I find it to be quite comforting. And to answer any questions, no it isn't bluetooth. mouse grip and sensibility is ok, scroll feature is nice as it gives a click-vibrate noise/feeling to it. The magnet isn't strong enough to cause damage to the hard drive, if it's in the laptop. just put the usb connector on the magnet area and you should be fine.
Problem with the Bluetooth version (Surface edition) is that Bluetooth will drain ur batteries faster than the wireless dongle of the Arc Touch. The problem with the regular Arc Touch (wireless dongle version) is that it doesn't work that well on Macs that only have the USB's on the left side. This problem causes the mouse to lose connection and acts all crazy out of control. Its do to the fact the the macs aluminum chassis frame causes interference with the wireless signal! Perhaps the Bluetooth version eliminates this issues!
Hi, I've a microsoft mouse that has rubber on the sides and, since it has benne some years that I've bought it, is now sticky. This one could have the same problem? Also, once "opened", has a normal dimension or is a little one for travelling?
Having a look for ergonomic mouse due to RSI and saw this was mentioned. Thank you for sharing your video. The touch part - you mentioned it can scroll up and down. Can it go L and R also ?
Thank you for your review. I plan to use the one I just purchased for $20 on eBay with my Surface Pro 3. Not a great fan of trackpads and still like my mice.
I lost the little usb dongle that goes with tihs mouse. Is it useless now? I can't find where I can buy another one and if I did how would I know if it would even work with this mouse?
If I lose the dongle, can I procure another one that will work with it? Do I have to do anything special or any dongle will work with the mouse. Thanks!
Good looking mouse but the fact that it can't be on while flat ruins it! The whole point is to be able to use it like a remote or a mouse. I think they only looked at storage and not functionality when it came to the design. This makes me not want to get it now...
Cool mouse. I own Apple's Magic Mouse, and while I'm fairly happy with it, I'm still partial to their touch pads. They're much more versatile. Oh, and FYI...the unit you are reviewing here is actually not bluetooth. It's an optical mouse with a USB transceiver. As you indicate in the comment thread below, Microsoft DOES make a bluetooth version of this mouse, but this is not it. Both models use something called "Blue Track" technology, but I think this may just have been a clever way for Microsoft to 'trick' people into believing the mouse is bluetooth when it really isn't. Clever folks over there in Seattle, huh?!? That being said, I still think this a fine mouse, indeed. :-)
To be honest it is a decent mouse and i actually own one but i would not take it over the magic mouse especially if like me you actually use apple products.
The Dongle is a "Bluetooth Dongle". Its advertised as that as well. The Surface Arch Mouse is a fully Bluetooth version. Its made for Surface but works with anything. It is advertised as Bluetooth, you most likely mixed the two up, MS isn't trying to fool you.
With all due respect, you are misinformed. The dongle is a 2.4 GHz wireless one, not Bluetooth. You can verify on Microsoft's own website: www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/arc-touch-mouse#details
I believe it has. I have a new version and you double-tap right in the middle for a middle click. Also you can tap on the top of the strip to scroll up a page, and tap on the bottom end to scroll down a page.
Sorry CrazySpinach, I like the "trackpad on top of a mouse" way too much to be replaced with extra buttons, especially in OSX. I also use my mouse with my left hand - very few "pro mice" work for me. I've recently gotten in to the Magic Trackpad 2, which, with it's 3-d touch, might blow all mice out of the water. Easy to learn the gestures, too. Sometimes, when going back to a normal mouse, I feel like Scotty in Star-Trek 4. I should just pick it up and say "Hello Computer?"
Despite it being more expensive and newer it feels inferior to the Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse! Comparison list of the Microsoft Arc vs Explorer Touch Mouses: Portability: Arc feels smaller and more rigid/stable (to falls while e.g. in a backpack) Coolness factor/Design: For effs sake, really cool to "snap" your mouse off to mark the end of work or in a symbolic gesture "carve up your arms" by "snaping" it on But thats it to the Arc! The Explorer Touch Mouses haptic feedback feels more real when scrolling, while the Arc feels irritatingly fake! The Arc doesn't utilizes it's touchpad, which is truly surprising since the elder, apparently discountinued Explorer Touch does that, and with quality! You can click the whole touchpad as a button on the Explorer Mouse, while you have to "double tap" the touchpad... on the mouse... with no haptic feedback, and while wanting precision, it makes the mouse move arround (eg, if you're trying to middle click a small text-link to open in a new tab, that will be problematic!) The Explorer Touch Mouse supporterd HORIZONTAL SCROLLING! It also supported special programable actions for double tapping upper/lower area of the button. The Arc Mouse does none of that! Also, having the two mouses side by side I can really feel that the Explorer Touch is more ergonomic and comfortable to rest your hand on. Shame, it is not easly available! :/
Good review, but this is just the plain wireless version of the mouse, not the bluetooth version. The bluetooth version doesn't use a dongle, it connects to the computer directly through the bluetooth.
+Soundtallica in Chains Bluetooth is a pile of crap! it lags crazily even with good Bluetooth dongles are way better
They are BOTH bluetooth. Why would the dongle version be better? Is it for computers that have an earlier version of BlueTooth?
"...I'll give you a quick demonstration of how smooth the mouse works..."
*few seconds later*
"...there is no point in demonstrating how well the mouse works..."
What? This is hardly a review. It's pretty cool that it turns on that way, but that's not going to convince anyone to get that oddly shaped mouse.
he was funny though. but he convinced me to buy it!
how can this be a Bluetooth mouse if it has a dongle? Bluetooth mise dont need dongles...that's the whole point of it...not to use a USB port
Jeimy Walters there's a Bluetooth option.
That's a USB mouse NOT Bluetooth. A dongle is not required for bluetooth.
Not a Bluetooth mouse.
Everyone here is very misinformed, it is not a bluetooth dongle. This is actually a 2.4ghz wireless dongle. bluetooth, really? Bummer, get your story straight.
I slam my mouse a lot, vouldnt it turn off?
The dongle is just for wireless.... where does the bluetooth come in and why would you need it?
need the mouse to be lithium ion and charged via usb
you don't need the dongle if your laptop has Bluetooth integrated
Incorrect, because it's not a bluetooth mouse. The dongle uses a different wireless frequency that is much more reliable than bluetooth
The surface edition of this mouse indeed has bluetooth, but then I don't have the USB dongle.

Is the (left/right) clicking by touch too? Or are they real pressable buttons?
thx for another review!
ITS NOT BLUETOOTH!!!!!!!!!!
***** 2.4Ghz Wireless. The Surface Edition (pricier) and Bluetooth Edition are the proper Bluetooth mice. Great design and function but a little getting used to the skeleton body rather than a solid body but that's the tradeoff for it's ultra portability
Basically this is a MOUSE that acts like the force touch TRACKPADS from Apple and other manufacturers
Not sure if trolling or blind...
You plugged a Microsoft mouse into an Apple MacBook? Blasphemy!! Jk
Wait... isn't this a radio dongle
That’s a quality snap. The Microsoft mice are great quality from my experience with the design model
is it really a "Bluetooth" mouse? You're using a USB adapter. Does your computer not have Bluetooth? If it was Bluetooth most devices that are Bluetooth do not come with a USB dongle.
there is another option in Bluetooth instead of the nano usb/ dongle
When the magnet attached the dongle to the muse I came a bit in my pants
I endorse this mouse enough to publicly make a youtube post. It beats the Apple's current magic mouse in many ways.
+Elson Cheng Lolol, no way it beats the Magic Mouse!
I prefer a recon foldable mouse because of its comfort.
Scroll not works properly

bluetooth.. LOL

why cant you just pair it with the Bluetooth ready in our laptops and pc? hy do all wireless mice have a dongle?
you are wrong, no dongle needed for bluetooth version.
