  • I hope you guys enjoy this unashamed Gee Milner Dream Builds ripoff.
    When I decided I was going to build my dream hardtail I wanted to document the meditative process with an equally meditative video.

    I gotta say the Pictures at the end (sometimes the music can enhance the image(s) if that makes sense)...were "Awesome". That is a Hardtail ready to "Rubber Side Down". Good job and well done.

    Just today I thought about building a Stanton Slackline Ti with the red Bomber Forks. After seeing your bike I think ist will look great 👍🏻 Have fun with your bike👍🏻

      That would look sick! I’m super happy with the red forks. It now has red pedals to match 👌

      Whats the Color of your Frame called? Is it one of the standard colors?

    • @kendallmonk
      @kendallmonk  3 роки тому

      Yeah it’s a standard colour - Shadow Grey. I’m sure the elite colours are amazing but the depth of the shadow is pretty damn good IMO.

    Cool Build 🤘🏼 , awesome bike on paper , How does it climb? And decend ?
    I feel this bike is a big BMX just great in bikeparks and free ride lines

    • @kendallmonk
      @kendallmonk  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks legend! I would say climbing is ok, the seat angle isn't super steep and the chainstays are super short so you've gotta be a bit more aggressive to keep the front wheel down on the really steep stuff.
      Descending is phenomenal, incredible fun, playful and fast. Handles the rough stuff really well and is a blast on groomed jump lines.
      I am stoked on the build up, the only thing I am not sold on are the TRP brakes which feel like they should have more power for twin pots.

      @@kendallmonk thank you for your reply Kendall really helpful, The bike looks amazing I have been also considering the 4130 for it being within my budget.
      even though my terrain isn’t as steep as this bike was built for, got mainly bikeparks and mini DH built trail runs
      My rides aren’t more than 3 hours long , just like wrecking through stuff and getting loose 😅 that’s why i like the idea of the Switchback.
      I just read that the bike is a bit boring on blue trails and flow , needs really steep drop to shine

    • @kendallmonk
      @kendallmonk  2 роки тому +2

      @@thescandiflick no worries at all. I’m not sure the average rider would be able to tell the difference between the 4130 and Reynolds, certainly not riding it.
      This is a fun bike wherever you ride it. If you get bored on flow trails with this things there is something wrong with you, not the bike.
      I’m the same, my rides are generally short although I’ve done a couple of 4-5 hour rides without issue.

      I bought the 4130 sherpa because it is the sweet spot fir price/quality. 538 may resell a bit better because of the brand “reynolds”. But don’t forget, both frames have the same reynolds rear triangle. So they are half identical 😉

    Hi...am I missing something here, I'm seeing Two different Cassettes @5:50 and @8:15. I do like the Stanton Frames, Steel and Ti. Was this Frame Built in the UK or Taiwan? Cheers.

    • @kendallmonk
      @kendallmonk  2 роки тому +1

      I had a Sunrace 11-46t cassette but it didn't work with my existing XT derailleur so I had to swap back to my 11-42. The bike is now setup with the 11-46 and a new SLX derailleur.

    • @kendallmonk
      @kendallmonk  2 роки тому +1

      This is the 4130 Cromo built in Taiwan. Cannot fault the quality, which is not surprising considering how good the Taiwanese are at building bikes.

    • @norman-gregory
      @norman-gregory 2 роки тому

      @@kendallmonk...Thanks Kendall for replying to my above questions. Yes the 4130 looks super, I agree Taiwan produces some quality, for sure. As you know Stanton has a UK build price, also a Taiwan Build price. 11:14 that picture is quality...appeals to myself. I had to watch it again. Thanks on the sizing, I'll take that on board when ordering. Rubber Side Down. Cheers.

    nice! how much does it weigh?

    • @kendallmonk
      @kendallmonk  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks legend. No idea what it weighs...it’s a burly steel bike with parts chosen for strength and value rather than weight. It’s no featherweight but it feels both light and nimble to ride while being super solid through the rough stuff.

    Can you give us a few details about the sizing? like how tall are you and what frame size did you choose? Are you happy with the size you have? There is not much out there on these switchbacks!

    • @kendallmonk
      @kendallmonk  2 роки тому +1

      I went for the 18" Long and I am 6ft. I was thinking about going smaller but was recommended the larger size and I'm extremely happy I did. The bike feels very nimble and the standover height is awesome.

      @@kendallmonk...Hi, I'm 6 1in...did Stanton help with your sizing? I thought for a minute you were going with Microshift 10 speed when I seen your "First cassette". How are the welds on this Beautiful looking Bike? Are you really happy with quality from Stanton? I ask as I too will be looking into a Stanton Bike Build down the Track! Cheers.

    • @kendallmonk
      @kendallmonk  3 роки тому +1

      Well spotted! The old XT derailleur I had did not work with the 11-46 cassette so I had to switch back to my old 11-42. I've since upgraded to a new 11spd SLX derailleur with the 11-46 and it's working perfectly.
