      Make two 'bowls' that are half-spheres, use resin to seal together with the confetti (of whatever type) inside, then drill a small hole to add the oil. Carefully seal the hole with resin (maybe a plug of cured resin, then just a tiny amount of resin to glue it in place.)
      This would look seriously bad-a$$ with a really thick resin wall, with bits of glitter and just a little black dye, so it is still really transparent, but grey instead of clear... then dye the oil inside a bit more, so you can see stuff floating in the oil (glitter and stars), but not all the way through. A Universe Sphere!

    • @acehighjohn1759
      @acehighjohn1759 4 роки тому +18

      The word confetti is not originally English tbf. Also, i live in the u.k and have never heard of anything other than small pieces of paper called confetti so i googled it.
      What confetti means?
      "Confetti are small pieces or streamers of paper, mylar, or metallic material which are usually thrown at celebrations, especially parades and weddings. The origins are from the Latin confectum, with confetti the plural of Italian confetto, small sweet."
      Still interesting they chose to use the word confetti when sprikles or 'frosted cake decoration' seems more logical.

    I have a solution to the space with less to no confetti that occurred. It might help for future projects, too. You could simply flip the first piece upside-down before putting the second batch on top. Since the confetti sinks to the bottom, it will blend perfectly together, and the empty space will be on the top and bottom of the entire block. 😉

Once you mix your resin and confetti, before it hardens, pour it into a large Christmas ball, or order a large acrilic sphere with a neck so you can like... chip it off or something as it starts to set. Maybe that will get rid of your center line problem and make it look like the glittery bits are really floating around inside.

    12:04 So, THAT's how you make a sphere! I never thought of anyone having their cutting tool on a pivoting jig.
    I guess I learned something new today.

    A couple of Suggestions:
    1) If/when you try this project again, I would suggest either doing multiple pours (each no more than 1/4 inch thick to reduce the separation line you got) OR do 1 big pour with so much confetti that it literally can't settle to the bottom (supersaturate the Resin with Confetti)
    2) I seem to remember you commenting in a previous video that you've had problems with your metal emblem disks popping out of completed projects. A possible way to stop that is to bore a hole twice the diameter of the chosen disk 1/8-1/4 inch deep, then in the center of that hole, bore a second hole the proper size/depth for the disk, place the disc and fill both holes with clear Resin to glue/seal it in...(i.e.: if using a 1 inch disk, bore a 2 inch hole, then a 1 inch hole, place disk and fill with Resin)...

    The music at 10:20 is stressing me out. Lol, the background beat sounds similar to the charging/not charging tone on the iPhone being played over and over so I spent 10 minutes wondering why/if my phone was broken. 👍🏼

    really cool project, bet if ya had a small LED light in the wood base it would make the sphere glow really nicely, could make a really cool nightlight or ornament..maybe make another sphere with glitter or that really nice prism tinsel to catch the light even more, similar to the tree ornament ya made before but with it being a sphere it can be used year round instead of just the holidays xxxx
