I'm recuperating from drastic back surgery (L2-L6 spinal decompression and spinal fusion) and, although it's slow going and I have a pretty long road to recovery, I'm finally starting to feel a bit better but I have to wear an EM field spinal stimulation backbrace (something about the EM field drawing my natural stem cells to the affected area to help fuse the donor bone implants to my natural vertebrae bone). I have to sit still and wear it for 2 hours everyday so, as you can imagine, it gets pretty boring. Nick, your channel and a couple others are really helping me through my recovery. It takes my mind off the pain and boredom so thank you.
@@GalacticGoddess46 Thank you. Had l2-l4 done, 1 & 1/2 yrs ago. Not fusion but stenosis and koflex clips. Didn't work. The bad thing about it is, most people only have 5 lumbar. 1/150 (mostly tall ppl) have 6. I'm 6'5" so, lucky me. 2 ruptured discs, 3 severely herniated discs, spinal stenosis, severe arthritis. All leading to spinal curvature. It is working out this time. Doc said 6 mos. - 1 yr. til total recovery. Already feeling better tho. The dang spinal stimulation back brace is a pain tho. 2 hrs a day, sitting bored for another 5 months. Did you have to wear that?
@timisme8360 no I had not even heard of that brace until reading your comment! I now also have a spinal cord stimulator and it is one that needs charging every 2 days. Takes 1.5 to 2 hours each time and yeah I can't move around while it's doing it. That's annoying enough, having it be a brace would be even more uncomfortable. A year is pretty much standard for full recovery, but you will feel pretty much recovered much sooner. I know a guy who 18 months after his fusion ran a marathon, so I'm hoping you get a great recovery!
Popping & banging because the pressure pot made pressurized bubbles trapped in not-yet cured resin. Why don't you use a vacuum chamber, just briefly, to get out some of the air before using the pressure pot? My kids & I love your channel, Nick. I hope you're making videos for a long time to come. Be well.
@@JMcMillen You almost have to fill the underside voids in each piece, let the resin cure to at least green, THEN put them all in your bigger mold and fill the rest of the space.
The colors and patterns on that are absolutely stunning! Black was definitely the color to use. Such a powerful piece. I wouldn't second guess the shape the vase the lines and colors are so intricate it really needed a strong and simple shape to let them shine.
I think a wood lining to some containers would make them even more beautiful. Maybe you can do some with the wood and some without? I was wondering if you could use scrap resin or resin scraps mixed with resin and/or wood shavings in the extra space of some pieces. The miced media might make something beautiful as well. It is a lot of resin loss if it is filled by the new resin, but the end result is important too. You know your craft and what works best for you. You should do what you think is best and we will enjoy the process. 😊
The black was a great choice. The vibrant Lego disappearing into the black as quickly as it does in some places and slowly in others is memorizing. I could look at that piece for hours. Love it!! ❤😊
Looks great Nick👍 . Thank you. Multi layered coloured resin pours. Helpful hint for the community 😊 - mix your colour into just part A (resin), obviously it will be a bit more translucent when you add part B so do a small test, and add more colour to part A if needed. Your colour will then be an exact match when adding further layers. The coloured part A will also keep if you need to get the exact same colour again for a seperate project in future. Also, when mixing, add part B (hardener) and then part A (resin). Part B is thinner than part A and doesn't stick to the side of your mixing cup as much.
My suggestion might be time-consuming, but the effect would be amazing. Prefill the Lego pieces, then do the main pour. Filling the pieces first can result in a better finish while turning the piece. In-depth details: 1. Spread Lego upside down to fill the interior of each piece. 2. Use a syringe to fill each Lego piece with UV epoxy. Use different colors for different batches. Blacklight reactive and glow in the dark epoxy would look awesome. Use a vacuum chamber or pressure pot to remove bubbles. Then cure the pieces with UV. 3. Mix the pieces to the desired mold shape, then do the main resin pour. 4. Finish the piece to your hearts content. If you made it this far, then the end project should be something you want to see.
As always, it started out rough but turned out amazing. It seems like you have second thoughts for your projects about half the time but they always turn out great! That really would make a beautiful lamp base but if you were to use clear, or lightly colored, resin and put a string of LED lights on the inside from the bottom, I think it would make a beautiful lamp in itself.
Outstanding! That is just amazing. The vase reminds me of the popular clothing design and colors of the 1980's. This was a black background with popping neon colors in designs scattered around.
Great project! Suggestion for an upcoming project: color pencils stacked radially around the length of the center surrounded by black resin. The effect would be spots of color surrounded by black, that would be very cool. Maybe using large color pencils instead of the normal sized ones?
I think it came out nice! Good work! I still want to see you do a mixed media project where you make a life sized version of yourself in a sculpture of some kind, using anything and everything you can imagine. That would be cool!
I like it,it looks awesome in real life. Going near the stand and my card was crying, sitting here now in my new T-shirt, and hoodie, drinking out of my cup wondering what happened.
The Lego Bricks Project was very beautiful in the beginning and got even more beautiful after you applied the grit. Thanks for sharing awesome content that is fun enjoyable and entertaining to watch.
A quick suggestion about wood cores. If you use a rounded core. You can bore the core out without leaving the corners. BTW. THIS project is just plain FUNKY!! I love it. Try putting lights inside. Lol
This is one very grand piece. I wouldn't change a thing. Yes, if you stare at it you see it's Lego but if you get your head out of the Lego land thingy, it looks like neon or graffiti. It's beyond cool!
I love it! It's funky, yes, but in a really fun way. If you have make the bottom curve in a little higher, not much, it would look like a lava lamp of sorts. The bright blue and pink/purple Lego give a neon effect. I think you could other stuff with this idea. The gaps just add to the overall look. Truly, I like it! A lot!
I absolutely love the project! It’s mesmerizing! The legos look like they’re disappearing into a black void! This is one of my favorite projects of yours Nick! I wish I was close enough to the show to come see this piece and you in person! Absolutely stunning!
Wow it's eye catching that's for sure. I think it looks awesome and will attract a lot of enquiries as to how it was made for folk who may not have seen the video. Thanks for sharing.
I actually love it! Don’t change it please. The wood, even though not in your original plans, adds a little bit of extra complexity to the vase. It is very nice.
I love the black background and how the different shapes of Legos when they're shaved off like that just come up with weird and crazy designs, looks so sick Nick! 🤙🤘🤟
Thanks for the update on Charlie. I wondered where he was. I subscribed to his channel, too. He's a very talented young man. How can anyone hate Legos? I like it.
WOW! Totally psychedelic! It looks like some kind of hieroglyphics on the outside. I do know some people who would think your committing a high crime against LEGO but I'm continually impressed by the amazing projects you make with this child's toy. I think my favourite is the diorama table with different scenes. I love the guitar also.
With all the cavities in the Legos, I think it would have gone slightly better if you filled the mold in sections so you could use something to stir them around in the resin and release the air. This does increase the risk of them floating up but if you pour the next layer of legos on top, hopefully they will help hold the rest down. That said, this project turned out better than I expected. Great job as usual!
Vacuum chamber should pull the air pockets and fill all the voids in the bricks with resin. No need to stir...just pour and pump (although you could still pour in stages if you like.)
Wow! Such cool results. Black was definitely the way to go. I've just started watching Daniel Cooper's channel he was excited and anxious about being invited to Maker's Central. I know you'll make him welcome. First time anything is nerve wracking. Thanks Nick.
Nick, I’ve just met you at makers central. Bought some merch. Was so shocked I forgot to ask for a signature and to shake your hand. Just wanted to say thank you for getting me through some tough times over the years. I’ll shake your hand at the next show.
I think this turned out amazing!!!! I LOVE your lego projects. This would make an excellence decor lamp! Light would make the lego look almost like neon lighting
Hey Nick! I love this, it gives off the "graffiti" vibe. ..very "funkadelic"! Looks like I missed the last video with the cans some how, going to go watch it now. Keep the awesome projects coming. What a cute fur baby, he obviously loves lego's!! LOL 😂 Big hugs from Texas!😁😜

That's.... Quite the shape. Particularly when it was on the lathe still with that wide base. 😅
Came out beautifully.
Yeah emtbadge502 is going to have to make a video about this one.
It definitely looks like a gigantic, um, plug of some sort. lol
@@Jules_73 It does look like some kind of plug... but which kind? Hmm...
Ear plug, obviously....

It’s a beautiful piece! Very 80’s. You could put some fancy lego flowers in there.
This is beautiful! I LOVE the way this turned out. It would be perfect for a lamp base. Amazing work as usual. Please do not give up on turning Lego!
Be well.
I always think that when someone uses something like Lego, since it would be easy for there to be air trapped inside the bricks.
Haven't even started to watch and I'm like .. what happened to the vacuum chamber.... How have you not realized nick suck out the air bubbles
I was thinking that! Would it compromise structure tho?

To me it looks like a vessel covered with ancient (or not so ancient) pictographs. Nice work, as usual~
I love it! It kinda screams 80's!
80s early 90s pop music.
It looks like an upside down vase full of liquorice all sorts 😉. Very nice and funky !
