    Dude, this is exactly what i needed this morning. I just bought a 10/22 takedown last friday! I havent even shot it yet, its sitting in its case with a box of stingers waiting to be sighted in this morning. Here we have some public land that you can hog hunt with rimfire, so i wanted light weight, easily packed, etc. I also have a savage 64 takedown thats ridiculously light but a little sloppy on the barrel attachment, so im still unsure about 75+yd accuracy until i get to trying it out. Great build guys! Heres to good weather for yalls house building.🍺

    • @UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh
      @UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh 3 роки тому +1

      @@xXlURMOMlXx just one if you know where to aim lol you have to remember people (myself included) take down farm pigs with a 22 short. So a LR or mag is plenty. Youre definitely not taking body shots, thats for sure!

    • @xXlURMOMlXx
      @xXlURMOMlXx 3 роки тому

      @@UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh thanks for the reply. Do you usually aim for the head or right behind it? I'm just surprised since I've heard stories of a .22 failing to penetrate human skulls if it isn't perfection at a 90 degree angle

    • @UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh
      @UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh 3 роки тому +1

      @@xXlURMOMlXx its easier to penetrate the skull from the side than the front, i will say that. Youre looking about 1/2 inch or so behind the ear at the 4-5 o clock position. From the front there is some chance of deflection, i can tell you this from farm pigs for sure. It happens. Not ideal, but it happens. The trick is to get the to stop moving long enough to take that shot. Wild pigs are constantly moving and with a small rimfire you have no chance of taking a shot on the vitals.

    Nice looking build! I bought my Take Down new with the back packer stock, picked up the same Tac Sol barrel, a Magpul forward optics mount, and a spare "back packer" fore end. I added a Romeno 5 red dot and a BX trigger. I do like the balance with the Tac Sol barrel and it's a shooter. I still have the original barrel I can swap out anytime I want, it shoots well, just a bit heavier.

    Can't find the range test or any reference in comment section. Would like to build or buy one of these but I've heard horror stories about accuracy due to the optic being on the receiver and not the barrel which apparently has a fare bit of play.

    I am getting ready to return the X-22 for a couple reasons. I bough the QD mount kit and QD sling form Magpul. When I received it I set it all up and excitedly threw my rifle over my shoulder, only to find that the center of gravity is such that the rifle hangs upside down with the barrel facing down. I called Magpul and they said there is no way around this because the takedown stock point of connection throws the center of gravity off and there is no way to correct it. What is the point of a sling if you can't throw it over your shoulder and walk around with your gun while hiking. My second main issue is the cheek riser, which is so high I have to smash my face into the thing to aim. I was totally bummed by these two aspects of the X-22. Luckily I bought it from Scheels and can take it back. Everything else about this stock is fantastic, but if you want a gun you can hike with over your shoulder, this is not the stock for you. And isn't that really the point of the X-22 backpacker?
