@@esdavidmartin Of course the moment can't be repeated, since time is linear! But of course he can recreate the feeling. I've done it myself and I've almost never seen Jacob fail. As you said yourself he's a very musical being. He can produce of highest quality at almost any given time.
@@esdavidmartin i think this conflict has to do with what each of you value; razz might value the musicality and specific abilities of jacob to reproduce emotions and David, you probably value the fact jacob captured the instantaneous moment when he first performed it. interesting the way you each have your own ways you might rather perceive things
It would be great if he could do an album full of songs like this. Really simple. Would resonate with a ton more people. Including myself. As a musician I appreciate Jacob. I just wish I could hear more stuff like this. Really shows his songwriting skills. Great work
He has done some though. Time to Rest your Weary Head? He has other songs that have similar energy too, like Ocean Wide, Canyon Deep or Make Me Cry and even Once You. Jacob doesn't just make complicated tracks and I'd say those songs are actually in the minority (With the Live in my Heart, Everlasting Motion etc.). It's fine if those are the type of songs you like most but Jacob has a myriad of emotions and stories he likes telling and doubt he wants to be constricted any one emotion or feeling.
@@joelikesthings yeah it’s a taste thing. Doesn’t have to be as simple as this. Just not a million miles per hour with all the harmonies and intricate chord movements. Stuff like this resonates much more with the vast majority of people and musicians for that matter
@@haroldbailey9011 Yeah I agree, but a song like Sleeping in my Dreams isn't made with the goal of resonating with you. It's to make you happy and wanna dance. If you listen to music to feel emotionally touched, then of course dancey/groovy/fast paced songs won't usually be for you. But I think a lot of people listen to different types of music because it does different things for them. People will have playlists just dedicated to songs that make them feel like they're lying in the sun on a warm summers day but then they'll have a playlist for when they wanna dance or when they wanna cry etc. etc. Edit: in a non convoluted way, a song that goes a million miles per hour with loads of harmonies and intricate chord movements can still be enjoyed, it's just usually enjoyed in a different way and to convey something else. If you find you enjoy sombre music more then of course you won't enjoy those, because he isn't bringing across sombre sounds or energy.
I know a lot of people (musicians mostly) that aren't a huge fan of Jacob simply because of his complexity. I think that's the huge difference between him and Charlie Puth. Charlie is more straight-forward but sneaks in his talent. I love Jacob's music much more personally...but he's not as popular or well-known to many because of that
[Verse] The sun is in your eyes The sun is in your eyes Throw me the cold Throw me the cold, cold water of your smile again To take me by surprise You take me by surprise Throw me the bold Throw me the bold, bold treasure of your lips again [Chorus] And where I go You lead me in the right direction With your love is my protection I’ll be a world of your projection And where I go Singing songs of your affection With rhymes to your perfection In my eyes see a reflection Of you [Outro] I see you clearly now I hold you dearly now The sun is in my eyes

I love how the song plays with the theme of "reflection" "The sun is in your eyes" - He's looking at their eyes, and sees the reflection of the sun in their eyes "In my eyes see a reflection, Of you" - but now when they look at his eyes, they can see themself in him "The sun is in my eyes" - this brings it back full circle, as they look into each other's eyes they see themselves reflected back, but that metaphorically they too are the sun to him. Beautifully constructed. Stunning song, simple but complex. My man Jacob is evolving and I like where he's headed.
@@GiveMeTheRice He sees himself in his lover. When he looks into their eyes he sees himself. It means in simpler terms the are similar people that have joined into one in their love.

I like your interpretation. :] Great songs are beautiful in that they can mean different things to different people. If I may, I'd love to share my initial interpretation. 🎼 “In my eyes see a reflection, Of you": He sees something in his own eyes. But how? By looking in a mirror. Try it: if you look in the mirror closely enough, you can see a reflection, of you. I believe Jacob is singing to himself. For me, this song is all about self-compassion, loneliness, and caring for ourselves when we are suffering in isolation (like many of us did...many of us are). Sometimes, we are all we have. Jacob's mom promotes self-kindness and self-compassion; I believe he has learned these values from her. 🎼 "I’ll be a world of your projection": We each project our world-other people cannot give us a world to project. Jacob probably wouldn't give that kind of power to another being. But he can trust himself to create his own world, his own life-he can trust his wiser, clearer, self to lead him in the right direction.
You may be but the world isn't. There are only so many drastic awe inspiring events the human mind can take at one time. Goatee Jacob would throw the world into chaos with his glory. For another time
