Not to take anything away from it, but the 10-string guitar plays almost exactly like his 5-string guitar. Each regular string has another one very close by that is an octave up or on the same octave similar to what you'd find on a 12-string guitar. That's what's adding to "the body" as Jacob put it. It takes not too much effort getting used to it and most people that can play a 6-string, can play immediately on a 12-string without much adaption. Wonderful performance regardless and obviously it sounds beautiful.
I was blessed to receive tickets for Father Day from my wife and daughter to Jacob's Detroit incredible show last night were he played this guitar. It was simply magical! Thank you!
His musical composition ability is what makes him amazing. His music isn't my cup of tea, and he isn't a master of any one instrument. But he has such an intuitive sense of what notes will sound good that he can throw a bunch of weird stuff out there and make it sound good. He's like if a prog metal musician decided to make light music featuring only instruments that are considered acceptable in today's pop genre.
Virtuous…don’t know instrument u play..but he s a superb pianist w great facility ..at the upper end of the pro pianist level… That is his main instrument… But it’s amazing how he’s become incredibly proficient on bass ,drums ,percussion ,voice ,4and now guitar not to mention harpegi!
Harmonic master, gifted pianist, arranger, mixer, understanding of timbre,pp, vocal riffs in a class w Kim Burrell, multi instrumentalist at theHIGHEST level, video editor extraordinaire, And humble fun entertainer…yeah. You’re right. Nothing special
@@jayclarke5466 He's very good at piano, but very rarely shows it. Technique wise though that's about average for a pro pianist. Go give Valentina Lisitsa a listen. She's a pro pianist on another level. Other instruments where the person is on another level: Drums: Neal Peart from Rush, Bass: Charles Berthoud here on UA-cam, Acoustic Guitar: Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac (they had to hire 2 guitarists to replace him when he quit the band). Collier can pull correct notes from nowhere from perfect pitch, but playing a bunch of instruments well doesn't leave him the time to become an expert at any of them. Not that I blame him; that sounds extremely boring and he has way better things to do with his time than become a prodigy on just a single instrument.
Jacob: I got this instrument yesterday
*plays it live like a master*

Thanks for sharing this. Great to hear this guitar.
Jacob “getting the hang of a new guitar” is like a new star getting the hang of it’s orbit. 😊
I'd give a lot to be a fly on the wall for Jacob Collier and Andy Powers chatting about music

magical evening it was San Diego
Checkout the Brazilian 10 string guitar called viola caipira or viola sertaneja Jacob!😊
Clearly Jacob still getting the hang of the instrument 😂
What a magical musician 🥰
Wow so good! Thanks for sharing! ❤
Splendidly performed! Love the richness of that 10-string guitar!!! Thanks, Jacob!!! ❤❤❤
Goodness me, just when you think you've heard it all, Jacob raises the bar! Ten string guitar no less?
those hand-held Mobile-Phone videos used to be nothing but a sh**load, but I'm so suprised how good this sounds o.O
Actual music actually
That's both sides now by Joni
Jk amazing piecing together all of those nice transitions ❤
It sounds like the guitar is tuned to a Lisbon tuning. Is that right Jacob?

@@jayclarke5466ok, you’ve never seen Amadeus. I forgive you though.
I hate him.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
why is he supposed to be good? this is just basic bs from yesteryear.
He can do a lot more than just this... Watch his live show at Barcelona as an example...
